Just discovered this fantastic project and the good knowledge sharing videos. Highly appreciate it as I`m also more or less in same stage in a restoration project on a K4. thank you from Norway
Johnda P Nice to hear from you. Always wanted to go to Norway! I'll get out there one day. Thanks for watching and I'm glad the videos could help you out.
Glad to see you tried out the Shine Seal. You won't be disappointed about having your weekends back instead of having to constantly polish it to keep her shiny. Powder coat is a stubborn beast. If you end up with powder coating inside of bushing or bearing journals, try using a Dremel with a flap wheel on it. On flat surfaces use a sandpaper disc. You can bring them back like new in under a minute, and no risk of scratching the surrounding surfaces. :)
good stuff!! love the squeezing mechanism tool. definitely referring back to this video when i reassemble my build. more info on that led in the frame loop plz!
Andys Garage I got that hoop from a bike shop here in Canada called Bullit Custom Cycles, it was custom made for me by them. You can contact them through their email -- info@bullitcustomcycles.com
Hey there, just wondering how the Shine Seal is holding up on Iris’s polished parts? I’m just rebuilding my forks on my 77 XS500 and noticing some wear on the fork lowers finish (OEM finish). Debating on polishing and refinishing them. Any info on the Shine Seal product and maintenance you did after (if there was any) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for posting your videos they’ve helped me a ton :)
hey man ive been watching this build for long time now. you've come a long way and it gives me hope for my build which im just starting. I was hoping you could link me to where you got your bronze bushings from?
I have a question. I am trying to get the bottom come race off but am having trouble getting off. Any suggestions? Also, Does the thin metel that is under the original rubber seal supposed to come off too? Thank you! Ive really enjoyed your videos!!
Jim Bean I don't think you can to be honest. I actually have a lot left and was looking to sell it at discount. I covered a lot of parts and I only used about 1/4 - 1/3 of it. If you're interested email me saturdayswrench@gmail.com
+brucekirk89 I use their garage because I live in a metropolis and garage space is limited (read - non existent). Plus my dad loves helping out and I thought it would be a cool project to do around him since he is very experienced.
Good impact driver would come in handy there but I like the idea used to squeeze them in 💪

Mind if I ask about how much the powder coat ran you? A range will be fine if you don't want to say exactly how much
+Tristan Popowski it was $380 for the frame, swing arm & various other parts like chain guard, rear set brackets, engine mounts, battery box etc.
do you still live with your parents??
