Since 1896, athletics has been on the programme of each edition of the Games of the Olympiad. Its presence on the Games programme has allowed its popularity to increase across the world. This popularity was also strengthened by the creation of the IAAF in 1912. Women's events appeared for the first time at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam, while the men's programme was standardised as of the 1932 Games in Los Angeles. Although at the beginning women were authorised to participate in only some events, today their programme is almost identical to that of the men.

Sadly, disrespectful drug cheats robbed the fair athletes from a place in the final and an opportunity for glory.
seems like everybody was on the juice, so unfair ! Such a mess.
Laura Weightman made it to the final as a faster loser and she got to the finish line before the other athlete basically on the line. She only just made it and she ran a great PB.
the 1st semi finals were so much slower than the 2nd ones, its sad bc some of the athletes from the 2nd heat were faster than those in the 1st heat but didn't qualify

Since the have(Or had in 2012) 3 strong top runner in this discipline and all of them are gorgeous.
Probably of those 24 in the semifinals all the 3 brits are in top 5 by beauty. Impressive.
