Faith Kipyegon has proven all her doubters wrong with her world record in Florence. After her win in Rio, the commentator mentioned the injured athlete. Her win in London 2017 was labelled as unpredictable by the commentators. She is now without doubt the GOAT of middle distance running
Contrary to what many thought, I believed that Faith Kipyegon had what it takes to beat Genzebe Dibaba given her (Kipyegon's) recent performances. Even went Genzebe beat her in Beijing 2015, it was largely because in the last 200m or so Sifan Hassan came between her and Dibaba and that interfered with Kipyegon's game plan. Kipyegon was then forced to chase Hassan (whom she overtook) before getting to Genzebe, but by then Genzebe was on her way to the finish line.
1:57.8 for the last 800m! That would put her in contention for a medal in the 800... leaving aside the fact that she'd already run an additional 700m. Brilliant running!
It's a running start, though. In a 800 meters race you have to accelerate from a standing position. Most of these ladies lack the speed to content with top 800 meter runners
@@roddo1955 The "running start" is more than negated by having already run 700m even at a steady pace. Anyone that can run a last 800m in around 1.57 can easily do that at 800m which by the way Faith showed us in 2020. Only Kipyagon ran that time for the last 800m if you noticed the other ladies were some way behind.
This here is why mid/distance events are so much more exciting to watch than sprints where you blink and you've missed out. Athletes can change things up and react to different strategies and whatever the competition throws at them. Tactically the most exciting races for me at the Olympics were 1500m, 5000m, and 10,000m for the women and 800m, 10,000m, the steeple and the marathon for men. But sometimes, overthinking strategies might turn into a disaster for favourites and make for a complete snooze fest that the men's 1500m was. Spectators didn't get their money's worth for that one.
How many are here after the Kipyegon Tokyo win?The commentators said Kipyegon won because Genzebe had an injury which is very shameful, where are they now?
It's been 8 years and 3 Olympics and Kipyegon has only lost a major final in the 1500 ONCE (and it was her season back from childbirth). There's a reason why she's so dominant and it's just because there's no way to run this race that does not favor her. She has the best pace across 1500 and also the best kick in the last 200/400/800. Everyone else will be run down and no one can catch her.
the thing about running is that the Africans have very high advantages because Africa has mostly high elevation, so when they train there they train their hearts to produce more blood cells to compensate for the less oxygen. But when they compete at a lower elevation they have an advantage over the other runners because they have more blood cells being pumped from the heart.

It was a great race. Faith Kipyegon is really awesome and good at finishing.
She wins in every way;
6:15 You'd think this is the final lap. Absolutely insane race.
Amazing last 800m. This is real gas!
The smallest young lady came away the biggest winner.
She is Ethiopian
@@selenah25 She's a credit to her country and to the sport. She exudes class while remaining humble. She's a great tactical runner as well.
@@MrMarco855 it's true I agree
@@selenah25 she is kenyan...Faith Kipyegon
It's 2022 and still kipyegon is unbeatable
I love watching this particular race.
This never gets old !
2022
1:57.8 for the last 800m! That would put her in contention for a medal in the 800... leaving aside the fact that she'd already run an additional 700m. Brilliant running!
David Franklin what an observation?
Truly awesome!
Spectators didn't get their money's worth for that one.
freedomm I feel like I got more than my money’s worth in the men’s 1500 at Rio. Matt Centrowitz was money!
Incredible race from Faith. But Genzebe should have pushed the pace earlier I think. Incredible focus from Jenny to reel in the bronze!
How many are here after the Kipyegon Tokyo win?The commentators said Kipyegon won because Genzebe had an injury which is very shameful, where are they now?
beautiful kipyegon love you😘😘😘
wow..what a race....congratulation girls...you are much better than all the commentators like us...
7 years later and now she has both the 1500M and 5000M world records. What a disciplined and determined athlete!! 🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪
@@frazieromondi9331 I tell you 👌💪🤞
Why am I crying watching this. Proud Kenyan
kenyans people are very good and polite
they take panadols...they wake up running, dream running and live running
the thing about running is that the Africans have very high advantages because Africa has mostly high elevation, so when they train there they train their hearts to produce more blood cells to compensate for the less oxygen. But when they compete at a lower elevation they have an advantage over the other runners because they have more blood cells being pumped from the heart.
@Blasphy B the filth you are omg!
Its the genuine hug btn faith kibyrgon and dibaba for me!.. pure sportmanship
They liked each other so much. I wish Dibaba stayed around longer. They were great friends and always so gracious to each other in interviews
Kenyan queen Faith Kipyegon was just brilliant
I love watching Faith kipyegon 🇰🇪7 years down the line she is still doing magic ❤️

Proud of you Faith 💪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪
I love mid & distance races because they can be run in so many ways, unlike the sprints. The cat and mouse game here was so suspenseful.
I love Genzebe and I love Faith too
Looter Jr ..,.Pick one and leave one for me.
2021 in Tokyo we are here after winning gold again
I just cant get over how Ms. Faith was in number 17 or something..... Yes, that is how you beat the fave...... Ms. Kipyegon, run, gal..... run.... we were cheering you like we were there....
Nakuru County's (Kenya) very best talent . We give God thanks for your victory. CONGRATULATIONS Faith Kipyegon.
I don't think people realize how slow a 76 second opening 400 really is.
So slow
@@bethwanjiku1576 that's my average for a 3200 and they're doing it for an OLYMPIC 1500, that's crazy
At the final especially..
@@EliMarszalek which makes it all the more impressive that the final time was 4:09, despite the slow early pace
Have you ever competed in the world championship or Olympics?
I never get enough of this race
Absolutely terrible coverage. We missed the most important part of the race as the winner was making her decisive move the camara was watching the 3rd and 4th for a prolonged period, the race was essentially over when we got back to the gold medal battle. Totally spoilt a wonderful race.
exactly. muir and hassan
May 2023,, still watching ❤❤❤❤❤Faith🎉😢🎉🎉🎉❤
"the medals have been decided" bud there is still 300m to go, chill
It's 2022 and Kipyegon near broke the World record this year in Monaco...she is the GOAT...
