I'm so glad Mosquitor is coming out early. I hope they continue to bring out the later wave figures early. Also, Green Goddess is awesome. I'd also love if they made Bow and some of the female Horde villains (Catra, Scorpia) in the MOTU style as well.
Yeah, these repaints and variations all feel a little disappointing when instead we could have more characters. I'd especially like to see more from She-Ra/The Horde and then so many childhood favorites like Buzz Off, Clawful, Sy-Clone, Whiplash, Moss Man, etc...

DAMN!! I can't believe it's 2021, and my ANTI-cancel culture, ANTI-female-chauvinism self is having to call out some actual damn 1800s male-chauvinism about some superhero/superheroine toys. SMH.
Mosquitor. I don't have any attachment to this character, didn't grow up with MOTU, but I've been watching your videos for like... 7-8 years now? And I want this Mosquitor simply because it's your favorite. It grew on me so much because of your genuine love for that original figure. And seeing all the great stuff they put into this one, the crazy blood draining effect piece, alternate head, but most importantly - the working blood pumping action feature. So good. I don't have a lot of MOTU action figures but I'm going to get this one, simply because it almost feels like a figure celebrating your channel and all the hard work that you have put into it.
I would never call myself a toy collector. I have very little interest in limited run figures aimed at adults. I am though a very nostalgic nerd. When I stumbled across the play focused Orgins in the toy aisle I picked up a bunch to gift to the kids in my life. Watching them enjoy the same characters that I loved as a kid brings a huge smile to my face.
Dan, thanks to you and to Reuben and Josh for once again giving us fans some insight on the line and upcoming products. This is something I wish other toy manufacturers would do. A one on one with backstory information on the production and ideas that went behind it is just pure gold. Regardless of how difficult it has been to obtain these (I only have a few, and I have been hunting since the line began unofficially at PowerCon in 2019) I still strive to complete the set. I *must* complete the set!
I love buying this line...when I can find it. All other nostalgic lines should follow Origins design and concept example. Lots of love showing through.
I hope hey made enough of the Power-Con exclusives, especially the Castle Grayskull pack, to give the opportunity for everyone that wants one to be able to purchase it.

They all begin to look the same after a while aside from a little tweak here and there. The best Skeletor and He-Man head to me, we’re the vintage super 7 releases. Surprised that they didn’t fly off the shelves like origins did. These were ten times better.

Yet I think every figure being released in the new year are target exclusives. And that translates into having to most likely get them on eBay because our wonderful scalpers will be there at the crack of Dawn to buy every single figure on the shelf. It just gives me this put in my stomach at this point. There’s no fun in going to these stores and constantly still seeing skeletor and he-man on the shelves. I spent $90 on that target two pack exclusive. Thinking that was the best price I’d ever get if only I waited another week as people are now looking to get $50 for it. Just one example where you don’t know if something is going to go sky high .....or not. Mattel did a horrendous job in distributing these. In Dans video he was even told 2 figures will go to each target store. My question is, why is that? Why not 6-10? Is Mattel only making 100 of these? So the fun and joy in collecting these I kinda lost at this point. Gave my preorders with BBTS I’ll hopefully get soon. But I’m done after that. $150 for the horde 4 pack? Give me a break. Its like were paying g the prices we would with the classics line. They should really go back to that. I’d buy a sub in a heartbeat
Over here in Europe, we would greatly appreciate an active marketing team or at the very least a customer service team. There's so many stories of literal Oddyseys some MOTU fans had if they had questions or issues around the Origins line. For example if you got lucky and were able to secure yourself a Grayskull - and then there were parts missing, there was absolutely no chance of getting a replacement part (Because no contacts to Mattel possible), or a replacement Castle (not available anymore). It really is a bit disheartening.

Yes Mattel in France does not care about press stuff and the distribution is really bad. I think Mattel does not care about shops and about to deliver the shops without any delay. This is really bad because the masters of the Universe origins is a great line

it's cool that they do the exclusives for PowerCon and I get making something like the Leo Faker pack scarce and special, but that Grayskull Accessory Pack is something that every kid with a Castle should be able to have ...but then again, with the scarcity I doubt that many kids are getting much anything from this line. I just hope that when the pre-orders open next week there will be some available.
Let them know next time you have their ear that NOBODY was happy about how those exclusives were handled! They sure were excited about the Grayskull accessories pack with the space armor, but they made it near impossible for the everyday fan to get one!! I personally would love to see them release those items again, at least to give the rest of us the opportunity to actually get them without having to pay a scalper.

Great interview, Dan! What a get for the fans who have questions we weren't sure we would get answers to until a figure's release. I wasn't planning on owning more than one Grayskull but now that it's getting tricked out with add-ons I have to have it! I am a little disappointed that Green Goddess isn't translucent (because this will be my first time owning the character) but I won't dwell on it. There's some truly exciting things coming and I couldn't be more hyped!
Pixel Dan, Do you think Mattel is going to reissue some of these figures? I haven’t been able to get my hands on some of the first two waves and pickings are slim unless you want to pay an arm and a leg on eBay or some other second hand market. Just want to get your thoughts.
The grayskull accessories need to be retail so kids can add it to the playset. No 4 and 6 year old nephew of mine is ordering from powercon. Lol. I mean yes I buy it for them but it needs to be widely available

MOTU has a HUGE fanbase here in India. Unfortunately, due to Covid & BIS (Indian Govt's new rule), we haven't even got wave 1. We were so excited last July (which was supposed to be the official release month), but all turned into a dust like a Thanos snap ! We probably have to wait even more, probably around August-October for the official launch. Some of the fans got their figures from US online stores. But it's pain in the butt & not so easy considering the current pandemic situation. Fingers crossed for the future !

Hard to see demand on a product when it can't physically be purchased off the shelves. So this argument that it's not selling, so we won't order more is partially a self fulfilling prophesy for retailers.
Loved seeing all the powercon exclusives I tried getting earlier but will never own. Why they made an acessory to complete your castle a limited exclusive is beyond me. Way to go Mattel on bringing back more frustration to collectors of this line like the wave 2 fiasco wasnt enough. Like flocked panthor and rise of evil 2 pack wasnt enough. Im starting to think its not retailers distribution problems but Mattel not being able to fill demand
retailers don't see "the demand" aspect for certain items, according to employees when they scan the label it'll say "discontinued"... the Mattel reps have no clue as to what gets shipped out to the stores... those guys are the "design" guys and not the ones that actually deal with store supplies and shipping to the stores themselves.
I'm waiting for BBTS to ship also. They can't ship what they don't have unfortunately. BBTS did email me to expect my Mondo Mer Man and Man at Arms soon though.

well Copy Cat is actually the the name and the idea from Joe Amato who made Faker Cat customs for many years now in all versions.... vintage, origins and classics. It’s about time that Mattel would acknowledge Joe’s work and give him credit for his idea instead of saying they came up with it while spitballing ideas.
I get that event exclusives must have a bit of exclusivity 😅 but I don't know about the Castle Grayskull accessories... I feel like everyone should be able to have that one. I mean I would definitely go to power con if I could but unfortunately I can't. I hope it won't be too hard to get cause here in Europe we were also big Musclor fans!

I have never seen a figure beyond wave 1 at any retail store and its May 2021. You have FAILED the fans, Mattel. Making Flocked Panthor a Walmart exclusive is another FAIL. Don't blame this on Covid. What a copout. I understand the importance of exclusives in this day and age of no TRU (in the states at least), but online is the way to go. Target exclusives are very problematic. My closest one is 47 miles away so I'm generally screwed. My issue. I work at Walmart, though I work at one that is in an semi affluent area. You would think that means this location gets the best of the best, but the opposite is true. I saw two Castle Greyskullls about 3 weeks back. I was tempted but passed. I saw two flocked Panthors about two weeks ago. Again tempted, but I've kinda passed on this line since I actually don't love the majority of the face sculpts. And no, I cant help with exclusives. We get basically none 90% of the time. Saw one case of the Hasbro 6" star wars for the first time in about one year. Crazy

exclusives sometimes show up in stores in sweden long after their original release. no fanfare, no announcement, they're just suddenly... there. i saw some US exclusive transformers in a regular grocery store just the other week maybe a year and a half after they were originally revealed. it's weird stuff.
Maaaaan... Mattel really needs to make that Grayskull set available else where too! Ugh!!! Maybe give it some sort of slight variation or something? Hell, or at the very least release the space suit figure solo. Of course, I'd like the whole set but the space suit is a must if I had to choose.

damn that Webstor is defo a pick up . he was my first classics villain figure I got (due to some guy call Pixel Dan going on about how great the line was :P ) and my collection just grew from there .
This interview has me pumped for the Origins line going forward and extremely excited for Revelations and Masterverse! Great interview Dan! I loved the energy they brought as well and their enthusiasm for what’s to come is infectious. Unfortunately, my son and I have made many trips to our local Walmarts and Targets and have walked away empty handed for months now. We’re fortunate enough to live in the L.A. area and have 7 Targets and 3 Walmarts within 10 miles. All of those opportunities and none of the Targets have stocked anything past wave 1 besides Panthor and Walmart doesn’t even stock the Motu Origins line around here. Maybe we’re just unlucky and losing the race to other collectors or, god forbid, scalpers. The excitement of “toy hunting” is practically over for us and now it’s just watching tracking numbers and waiting for boxes to show up from our savior BBTS. Thanks to them we’re mostly caught up with the exception of flocked Panthor, but I’ve given up hope on that one and got a normal version from BBTS. I don’t blame these guys at all and put the responsibility on the retailers for this issue. It’s just taught me to temper my expectations, especially for retailer exclusives, a.k.a. Scalper Goldmines.

How the hell are we supposed to show demand for Rise of Evil if there is no way to ORDER the damn thing? Its all backwards. What I want to know is how hard is it going to be to get the Power Con Greyskull kit? Is there only gonna be 2 of them available?
What I want to know is if/when the Power-Con exclusives will be released as retail available. I'd also like to suggest including an Origins-style Faker head in a heads & weapons multipack. They can include alternate heads for certain characters and have included or separately the weapons pack that the original 80's toy line and maybe include the Staff of Avion, the Shaping Staff & the Ram Stone.
Wish I could get into origins, I’m just too deep into collecting classics on the After market, and I’m not a fan of the sculpts on origins. Guess I’m too connected to the Horseman, but, it’s still fun to see this brand back in retail. Edit: Spoke far too soon, omg they fixed this line for me. Giving me that vintage head for He-Man makes him a must get for me, also love that vac metal armor. Congrats Mattel, you won me over on Origins.

How about putting together an add on playset for either the throne room, or Duncan's workshop. same colored stone, additional storage for kit, some secret passages, maybe a trap or two.... Maybe a secret door or notches to add in an additional future playset....

Stinkor used to smell so much even inside the box in the shop that we used to hold our noses while looking at MOTU figures.

Regardless of how difficult it has been to obtain these (I only have a few, and I have been hunting since the line began unofficially at PowerCon in 2019) I still strive to complete the set. I *must* complete the set!

@@thunderpunchheman I feel like how many more variations do we need? Of course I’ve got every single classics version of He-Man, and there were a million. They all begin to look the same after a while aside from a little tweak here and there. The best Skeletor and He-Man head to me, we’re the vintage super 7 releases. Surprised that they didn’t fly off the shelves like origins did. These were ten times better.
@@frankpetersen6624 the 5.5 filmation style Super7? The Skeletor is dope but I don't agree on the He-Man head from that line. I like the vintage, perhaps because it was our first introduction? I really like the Origins line and will continue to support it, if able.
@@thunderpunchheman I loved the origins line but I think after this year ends I’m done. I thought Mattel was done with store exclusives? Yet I think every figure being released in the new year are target exclusives. And that translates into having to most likely get them on eBay because our wonderful scalpers will be there at the crack of Dawn to buy every single figure on the shelf. It just gives me this put in my stomach at this point. There’s no fun in going to these stores and constantly still seeing skeletor and he-man on the shelves. I spent $90 on that target two pack exclusive. Thinking that was the best price I’d ever get if only I waited another week as people are now looking to get $50 for it. Just one example where you don’t know if something is going to go sky high .....or not. Mattel did a horrendous job in distributing these. In Dans video he was even told 2 figures will go to each target store. My question is, why is that? Why not 6-10? Is Mattel only making 100 of these? So the fun and joy in collecting these I kinda lost at this point. Gave my preorders with BBTS I’ll hopefully get soon. But I’m done after that. $150 for the horde 4 pack? Give me a break. Its like were paying g the prices we would with the classics line. They should really go back to that. I’d buy a sub in a heartbeat
Over here in Europe, we would greatly appreciate an active marketing team or at the very least a customer service team. There's so many stories of literal Oddyseys some MOTU fans had if they had questions or issues around the Origins line. For example if you got lucky and were able to secure yourself a Grayskull - and then there were parts missing, there was absolutely no chance of getting a replacement part (Because no contacts to Mattel possible), or a replacement Castle (not available anymore). It really is a bit disheartening.
Even if you had contact with Mattel they dont give a f@#%.I send tons of emails about the poor distribution and they always send me Good luck in your search lolll

Yes Mattel in France does not care about press stuff and the distribution is really bad. I think Mattel does not care about shops and about to deliver the shops without any delay. This is really bad because the masters of the Universe origins is a great line

it's cool that they do the exclusives for PowerCon and I get making something like the Leo Faker pack scarce and special, but that Grayskull Accessory Pack is something that every kid with a Castle should be able to have ...but then again, with the scarcity I doubt that many kids are getting much anything from this line. I just hope that when the pre-orders open next week there will be some available.

Let them know next time you have their ear that NOBODY was happy about how those exclusives were handled! They sure were excited about the Grayskull accessories pack with the space armor, but they made it near impossible for the everyday fan to get one!! I personally would love to see them release those items again, at least to give the rest of us the opportunity to actually get them without having to pay a scalper.

Well at least we're getting a retail release of the prototype Mer-Man. I actually like the way he looks a lot better than the regular one.

Great interview, Dan! What a get for the fans who have questions we weren't sure we would get answers to until a figure's release. I wasn't planning on owning more than one Grayskull but now that it's getting tricked out with add-ons I have to have it! I am a little disappointed that Green Goddess isn't translucent (because this will be my first time owning the character) but I won't dwell on it. There's some truly exciting things coming and I couldn't be more hyped!

The grayskull accessories need to be retail so kids can add it to the playset. No 4 and 6 year old nephew of mine is ordering from powercon. Lol. I mean yes I buy it for them but it needs to be widely available
It makes no sense. That guys is so excited talking about the exclusives, but the regular working man isn’t going to be able to get it without having to buy it on the secondary market!

Yup, these guys live in a Mattel bubble. Only reason Pixel Dan gets his hands on MOTU exclusives is because he has a UA-cam channel. It’s so dumb all the effort they put to making and selling exclusives yet most people can’t get them. You don’t want our money???
Yeah they’re out of touch with reality. Only sclapers make money with the way they’re doing things. The money might as well go to Mattel, if only they have them widely available.
MOTU has a HUGE fanbase here in India. Unfortunately, due to Covid & BIS (Indian Govt's new rule), we haven't even got wave 1. We were so excited last July (which was supposed to be the official release month), but all turned into a dust like a Thanos snap !
We probably have to wait even more, probably around August-October for the official launch. Some of the fans got their figures from US online stores. But it's pain in the butt & not so easy considering the current pandemic situation.

scalpers are vicious in my area, I have only seen wave one, super bummed, never intended to pay 30 dollars for a 14$ figure. :(

Hard to see demand on a product when it can't physically be purchased off the shelves. So this argument that it's not selling, so we won't order more is partially a self fulfilling prophesy for retailers.

Loved seeing all the powercon exclusives I tried getting earlier but will never own. Why they made an acessory to complete your castle a limited exclusive is beyond me. Way to go Mattel on bringing back more frustration to collectors of this line like the wave 2 fiasco wasnt enough. Like flocked panthor and rise of evil 2 pack wasnt enough. Im starting to think its not retailers distribution problems but Mattel not being able to fill demand
Rise of Evil went from hard to find to hard to sell.
retailers don't see "the demand" aspect for certain items, according to employees when they scan the label it'll say "discontinued"... the Mattel reps have no clue as to what gets shipped out to the stores... those guys are the "design" guys and not the ones that actually deal with store supplies and shipping to the stores themselves.
I'm still waiting for Clamp Champ and BA He-Man and now I learn the Fisto wave is out.... I really with BBTS would get caught up on shipping these.

I am from germany and it is good to hear that the older origin figures will be still produced because they are hard to get there. Are there more, maybe bigger display bases coming like some plates with some fright zone trees? Or bigger rocks, for displaying more figures at once... It is good to hear that Mattel tries to make Our childhood fantasy buyable, like the extras they showed and Mattel is doing it great! Would be cool to get the bone bridge in Front of castle grayskull..

well Copy Cat is actually the the name and the idea from Joe Amato who made Faker Cat customs for many years now in all versions.... vintage, origins and classics. It’s about time that Mattel would acknowledge Joe’s work and give him credit for his idea instead of saying they came up with it while spitballing ideas.
I get that event exclusives must have a bit of exclusivity 😅 but I don't know about the Castle Grayskull accessories... I feel like everyone should be able to have that one. I mean I would definitely go to power con if I could but unfortunately I can't. I hope it won't be too hard to get cause here in Europe we were also big Musclor fans!

I have never seen a figure beyond wave 1 at any retail store and its May 2021. You have FAILED the fans, Mattel. Making Flocked Panthor a Walmart exclusive is another FAIL. Don't blame this on Covid. What a copout. I understand the importance of exclusives in this day and age of no TRU (in the states at least), but online is the way to go. Target exclusives are very problematic. My closest one is 47 miles away so I'm generally screwed. My issue. I work at Walmart, though I work at one that is in an semi affluent area. You would think that means this location gets the best of the best, but the opposite is true. I saw two Castle Greyskullls about 3 weeks back. I was tempted but passed. I saw two flocked Panthors about two weeks ago. Again tempted, but I've kinda passed on this line since I actually don't love the majority of the face sculpts. And no, I cant help with exclusives. We get basically none 90% of the time. Saw one case of the Hasbro 6" star wars for the first time in about one year. Crazy

Great interview! Wow, so many new cool characters. And Mattel also doing it right with releasing new versions of He-man and skeletor with vintage heads, the way they should have done from the start. Love this line and so does my son. It sucks though that only US and Canada gets the exclusives since Europe and the rest of the world don't have Targets and walmarts so we have to pay scalpers on Ebay to get em. Motu love from Sweden!
exclusives sometimes show up in stores in sweden long after their original release. no fanfare, no announcement, they're just suddenly... there. i saw some US exclusive transformers in a regular grocery store just the other week maybe a year and a half after they were originally revealed. it's weird stuff.
Maaaaan... Mattel really needs to make that Grayskull set available else where too! Ugh!!! Maybe give it some sort of slight variation or something? Hell, or at the very least release the space suit figure solo. Of course, I'd like the whole set but the space suit is a must if I had to choose.

This interview has me pumped for the Origins line going forward and extremely excited for Revelations and Masterverse! Great interview Dan! I loved the energy they brought as well and their enthusiasm for what’s to come is infectious.
Unfortunately, my son and I have made many trips to our local Walmarts and Targets and have walked away empty handed for months now. We’re fortunate enough to live in the L.A. area and have 7 Targets and 3 Walmarts within 10 miles. All of those opportunities and none of the Targets have stocked anything past wave 1 besides Panthor and Walmart doesn’t even stock the Motu Origins line around here. Maybe we’re just unlucky and losing the race to other collectors or, god forbid, scalpers.
The excitement of “toy hunting” is practically over for us and now it’s just watching tracking numbers and waiting for boxes to show up from our savior BBTS. Thanks to them we’re mostly caught up with the exception of flocked Panthor, but I’ve given up hope on that one and got a normal version from BBTS.
I don’t blame these guys at all and put the responsibility on the retailers for this issue. It’s just taught me to temper my expectations, especially for retailer exclusives, a.k.a. Scalper Goldmines.

What I want to know is if/when the Power-Con exclusives will be released as retail available. I'd also like to suggest including an Origins-style Faker head in a heads & weapons multipack. They can include alternate heads for certain characters and have included or separately the weapons pack that the original 80's toy line and maybe include the Staff of Avion, the Shaping Staff & the Ram Stone.
Wish I could get into origins, I’m just too deep into collecting classics on the After market, and I’m not a fan of the sculpts on origins. Guess I’m too connected to the Horseman, but, it’s still fun to see this brand back in retail.
Edit: Spoke far too soon, omg they fixed this line for me. Giving me that vintage head for He-Man makes him a must get for me, also love that vac metal armor. Congrats Mattel, you won me over on Origins.

How about putting together an add on playset for either the throne room, or Duncan's workshop. same colored stone, additional storage for kit, some secret passages, maybe a trap or two.... Maybe a secret door or notches to add in an additional future playset....
