I wouldn't mind exclusives If I could get my hands on them but unfortunately I can't, it's impossible for me to get them unless I buy a plain ticket from Portugal to USA and that would make the exclusives a bit to much for my wallet.

I've been lucky enough to get this exclusive via ebay, but it cost about $200! I feel like it was worth it, though, with the interchangeable heads and hands, the "combined" power sword (rather than just the gray half that combines with the purple half), and the comic book which recapitulates He-Man's origin story using Prince Adam instead of the Conan-like barbarian introduced in the first mini-comic. It's really a delight and looks fantastic on display. Thanks for another excellent video!

Absolutely amazing! Mattel knocked this out of the park!! This is the love I’ve been waiting to see from Mattel towards MOTU!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let this become a full line!
From what I have been able to research online, the character of Prince Adam (along with his parents King Randor and Queen Marlena) debuted in DC Comics Presents #47, which saw the Pre-Crisis version of Superman crossover from Earth to Eternia. Any toy pack-in mini-comics that featured this version came after the release of the DC comic, followed by the juggernaut revamp that was the FILMATION cartoon !
Yeah. The blue-vested Prince Adam debuted in DC Comics Presents #47. Though his look with blue shirt is different. This version seen here in packaging though came in DC Comics Mini-Series '82. Filmation was '83 and the minicomics that have for example Prince Adam in "Masks of Power" is '84 wave. :)
I've had my complaints about Mattel's toys and their execution, but damn, they have always knocked it out of the park with the SDCC packaging. This is phenomenal.
Wooww!!!! This is amazing Dan!! I can't believe it. This is the first time we have a decent Masters of the universe vintage toy. Just imagine if when we were kids the vintage Toy line had of these features and articulated joints. I remember asking to my parents how I can't poste my toys as the mini cómic, the mouth shield-armor in man at arms, the hands, the position of legs in the vehicles. In other way we could put in boiling water the toy hands and close more, the same thing with the head hole or may be using a dremel tool. Alma fondo vintage and the 200x. Classic just tried to emulate the vintage but looks ridiculus a "new style" radius design problems or aesthetic from a vintage Toy in this years as the reusing and the big fat clothes. . Disney online are not trying to do a new style. They are just upgrading with new features that we never seen before in the vintage toys. Filmation classics is the same problem. Filmation vintage is OK,, they are not trying to do a new line, they are just upgrading vintage according to filmation. This is the toy lne we always wanted as kids and I am going to collect all of this as my new vintage display poseable.
Yeah, I would definitely leave this in package in hopes of getting individual releases down the line, at least of He-Man. I freaking loved the mini comics back in the day.
@@adrionjones I was thinking that after SDCC that these figures would probably get reissues without the glamorous packaging. And that the packaging for the SDCC versions could become or sought after than the figures themselves.
@@80sTransfromersFan Totally agree. I'm cool with that too. The figures in place are an intricate part of the storytelling/packaging, so I too would be pained to remove them.
Man I hope this becomes a full retail line. I think those vintage proportions are so much fun, I mean they are toys after all. I'd love to see what they do with the ladies, Teela or Evil-Lyn. I haven't been so excited for MOTU in a long time.
I want to see them too on the shelfs in the stores , but I hope they change it that the figures can be part in the middle or that you can only part them if the torso looks backwards .
Excellent review, Dan. I really want to get my hands on this set. So glad you attempted the swaps because I was definitely wondering about the heads and weapons before you covered them. Kudos, sir.
This is the first SDCC exclusive that I'm genuinely stressing about missing. The packaging is wonderful. I really hope they've made enough for non attendees and the international market
This is ridiculously awesome, packaging alone, being able to be resealed of sorts, I'm sold, this is definitely going to cost me an organ or two getting it from eBay.
Very good MOTU homage, the action figures the box every thing is near perfect. I agree that they could try to hide the elbow bend and that the most powerful man in the universe should be hung like a horse. I would rather have a two pack with He-man and Skeletor but that is because I have a shelf devoted to them. I really hope this turns into a line and that these exclusives will be sold online. Nice review Dan thank you.
I have a feeling we'll be seeing more of these types of figures once the new film draws on the horizon. This is most likley Mattels first forray into taking back the MOTU license from Super 7
If this does get a full toyline, i only have three hopes: - Sell these in stores, like Hasbro's Marvel legends. The reason I never got the original Classics was because I could never find them in stores. (I was like, 7, give me some slack) - These need to have their original gimmicks. The powerpunch on this guy is sorely missed, so a release with that feature reincorporated would be awesome. It would also be one of the only toylines nowadays with action features like this, so that could help these figures get some more mainstream attention. -plz give me my boi Skeletor. Nothing else, just need a Skeletor in this style.
I don’t think the toy’s weird I think they’re awesome! I hope they release some origins Snakemen like tung lashor and king hsss. Makes me think of robot chicken’s He-man sketches where they took apart certain pieces and put wire and clay to the figures to give the vintage toys more articulations. Can’t wait for them in 2020 I just wish they at least come at winter 2019. Also the 15:03 music sounds like a He-man video game on Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis. two thumbs up!
I really hope this becomes a full line. I missed out on classics and now prices for them are insane. Besides, I really love the idea of them being in the original scale instead of the 7in scale.
I wasn't a fan of these at first, mainly because of the head being odd-looking and I didn't want a He-Man figure full of visible joints - but when I saw they included a vintage-style head you can use - and this video that shows how cleverly the muscle sculpts hide the joints, that changed my mind. Will definitely get one now.
Awesome review! I played it safe and have a friend hopefully picking 1 up at convention and did a preorder just in case. I hope i get both now so i can display that amazing packaging and display the loose!
YES, this is what I've been waiting for. I'll admit that I never took to the classics toy line, due to their larger sizes and sculpts. These vintage compatible figures are exactly what I've longed for since the 2001 reissues came out. I'm beyond hyped to see what else they have in store.
Dan, I cannot even find words to express my excitement for these! Good job, dude! A Mattel rep (I forget her name! Doh!) did state that these figures WERE INDEED headed to brick/mortar retail, like Walmart, Target... etc.!!!
Really great review Dan!!! You showed off a lot of cool things in that video. As soon as I saw the power sword didn't fit I was wondering about the Classics sword and boom! You answered that question. I'm really hoping I can pick this up!
Seems to me that the comic sword for these figures is comic accurate in its dimensions (including the handle). I wouldn't mind a hand with a wider grip just for the sword as I do like the esthetic of that big handle.
To add, I've really been waiting for an Alcala inspired line. Those first four mini comics really hit their mark. I hope we get blonde Teela and red Beastman too. You can imagine my surprise and confusion when the cartoon series debuted. Poor five year old me.
