Also I appreciate you using your own personal experience to discuss Sally’s storyline, helps me appreciate her history and how it’s conveyed in the show even more!
I can't help but find it hilarious how every woman seems to have a sob story about an abusive ex. Either most men are evil psychopaths or women select these men themselves because ANY kind of excitement is better than the horror of dating a boring nice guy.
Season 2 gives so much depth to characters like Fuches and Sally. I love Barry and Hank of course, but on rewatches I feel like I love Sally and Fuches even more. They’re full of contradictions, but that makes them fascinating to me
It's just realistic. We're all hypocrites and full of contradictions, and we present masks to others -- and even ourselves -- that portray ourselves the way we want to be perceived.
20:05 But also, should she have? Personally, I think sneaking out of the house while he was passed out was the wisest course of action. I'm sure it burns and feels like cowardice, but I'm all in favor of people just leaving and not risking getting murdered and I don't think that makes anyone weak. I think obviously she should have left sooner, but that's much easier said than done.
The whole concept of "my truth", I've never been fully on board with that being used to talk about situations in reality. People like to warp memory to be in their favour so when people say "my truth" it just seems to automatically be not 100% truthful to how things actually played out and this episode plays on that theme so well.
Yes, I've always disliked that phrase as well. The truth is the truth. Either you are being honest or not. Sure you need to take into account the malleability of memory and the subjectivity of perception, but you should be doing that anyway. Here's what I remember, here's how I felt, here's how I feel now. Boom: Truth. Maybe not the whole truth, but still truth, not "your" truth, just The Truth.
The whole scene with Sally wanting Barry to play her abusive husband reminds about the show 911 and specifically a character called Maddie, who's also in an abusive relationship. The actress portraying Maddie asked for her real life husband to play the part of her abusive partner in the show, as she said she would completely trust him in those very hard scenes. I guess I understand the feeling, but it still feels like it would be a lot.
You should react to *The Twelve Monkeys* . Although Brad Pitts character ( who is called Jeffrey Goines) isn't the main character in the film he is still really interesting. He starts off in a mental institution then becomes the leader of an animal rights group called *The Army of the twelve Monkeys* Jeffrey Goines also gives an interesting speech about the evils of capitalism and consumerism while he's in the institution. Some film critics have described Jeffrey Goines as *Tyler Durden gone mad*
Not necessarily. The 9th step is “made amends to those we had harmed EXCEPT when to do so would cause more harm to them or others.” So his sponsor would’ve either: A) had him make a living amends aka just change the behavior and be the best person you can be going forward. B) had him write her a letter or call her to ask if she would be willing to hear his amends. You’d never just bum rush someone you physically assaulted with an amends.
That rooftop scene is one of my favs. This show can balance the funny and disturbing so masterfully.
IF I SUCK ASS, YOU ARE KING OF SUCK ASS MOUNTAIN! made me cry laughing

I could watch Hank dancing on the roof all day
“I’m Jewish! What the FUCK, Barry?!”
lol
“You were IN A WAR! And you give us pitzi kaka?!” Wtf is that man
50/50 with Cristoball is my favorite scene in the whole show
“you give us pitsy caca” is a sentence i find myself saying every now and then

The look on Barry's face in the final shot of the episode, goddamn.
0:56 that delivery.
Something....you mean (smile), like, something BAD?
Thank you for sharing about this. I identify with regret that I could or should have done something more.

“King of suck balls mountain” is an insane line
Braveheart is great.
I watched it as a kid in theater and it traumatized me. 😂
15:42 lobster claws! 🦞
Now Barry is really picking up the pace from here on out

Love george and i'm sure he's completely right haha
Okay, but Hank was right: it *is* true that Thomas Friedman is a bad writer and nobody likes him.
👍🏾
Has anyone ever noticed that that actress who plays Sally looks kinda like Arianna?
You can't provoke a man like that. I'd walk away but that's walking a line you don't want.
If her ex is now in AA, he has to show up to make amends. Just a guess.

you find out in the next episodes that, that's not why he's there
