Fun fact: this episode first aired immediately after the Long Night episode of Game of Thrones. I was so immeasurably disappointed by it that I forgot to switch the channel or turn the TV off, and this became the very first episode of Barry I ever watched. What a fucking intro. Still one of the best of the series and one of my favorite standalone episodes of TV of all time.
Literally the exact same experience for me. Weirdly a perfect way to get introduced to the show, cause it does stand on its own so well. Though I did expect the whole show to be trippy like that after this one lol. Still loved it though.
@@skyereacts125 It was a mixed bag. I know a lot of people were fine with Arya taking out the NK at that point but I wasn't. There was also a few too many "dumb" moments in that episode. The Dothraki charge.
This is one of the greatest tv episodes of all time. It’s plot relevant, dark, dramatic, and hilarious. I could watch it a hundred times and it never get old
@1:14 Movie Trivia: The actor playing Ronny Proxin (Daniel Barnhardt - the guy dating Detective Loach's ex-wife) is a legit multi-blackbelt bad ass who has appeared in numerous action movies. He's the guy that finally gets the upper-hand on John Wick in hand-to-hand in the first movie and throws him over the second floor balcony in the nightclub. Once you notice him you will recognize him again and again in action movies.
Following up one of the most disappointing television episodes of all time in that Game of Thrones episode leading in, what a rollercoaster of a night that was.
Fun Fact: at 19:02, in the reflection in the window, you can see the head of the mannequin they used as "Loach" FLY ACROSS THE PHARMACY Bill Hader said that was one of the hardest he's ever laughed
"What was that!? What kind of kick was that?" Well Maple, as a professional TKD instructor, I can tell you. That is called a spinning kick or spinning hook kick by some schools. And yes, it can break the neck. I should also say, they actor had an excellent execution.
The actor is Daniel Bernhardt, he's lifer in martial arts movies and tv shows. A lot of B level stuff but sometimes he shows up in things like The Matrix, John Wick, and this.
Every episode of this show is like a beautifully cut diamond. This is one of those where I was thinking “how was that only a half hour?” Not a frame of wasted time.
Fuches is not his safe space. He is realizing that he’s the devil. He always leads him into darkness, and he shows in this episode that he doesn’t really give a shit about Barry. He doesn’t care that he’s stabbed. He just wants him to work. But when Fuches is injured, he flips out on Barry telling him to hurry up for HIM.
This is one of the funniest episodes of the whole series in my opinion. So ridiculous. The whole time it feels like the cold open and you're waiting for the title and theme music to pop up and it never does. So good.
8:29 "i'm surprised he didn't say Funyuns. I always feel like those are the chip of the shady guy." -arianna sponsored by Frito-Lay. chad is brilliant the way he's getting the advertising in.
Yes. Fuches is an absolute piece of garbage. Stephen Root (the actor who plays him) is one of the best actors of all time and he's the reason that Fuches still has a level of likability.
I've worked on a couple of shows with a stunt coordinator who is good friends with Daniel Bernhardt, the stuntman who plays Ronny. It is so funny how this badass martial artist and stuntman acts like the stereotypical middle-aged dad in person.
It was cool to see Daniel Bernhardt in this and still able to literally kick some butt he was also in the Matrix Reloaded and in the first John Wick movie these three episodes were my favorites
People that don't like this episode take a show that's not supposed to be taken too seriously too seriously. Learn to laugh! If the show can lean more into the dramatic in later seasons, why can't it lean more into humor at other times?
Gotta say I’ve seen a lot of reactors bust out laughing at the absurdity and how funny it was and be all into it. You guys were into it but this might be the first pair of reactors that really didn’t have much of a reaction to the episode (other than a few moments throughout). Not that I had hoped for anyway. Bummer. All in all you both still seemed to really enjoy it and I guess that’s all that matters.
Hader directing, crew member putting his daughter on the show, the wet fart of them writing themselves in a corner with the whole Loach thing, wanting to have their own long one take scene. It amazes me that people think this episode is "the best ever on tv". It's such a jarring episode compared to what the show has been thus far. It was too absurb and while I could have found it hilarious in a vacuum, the tone shift whiplash it gave me just ruined any chance of ever being able to enjoy the episode. Which is fine, its my opinion and I'm glad for anyone that was able to turn their brain off and enjoy it for what it was.
It’s a great standalone episode, but also a real cop out in terms of Barry being caught as a hitman. They decide to go the route of dropping the more realistic elements to the plot of season 1 which was disappointing to me.
I’m shocked so many people love this episode. I think it’s potentially the worst Barry episode. The show walks a great line between absurdity & realism and this episode goes WAY too far into the absurdity.

This is the episide, that made me completely fall in love with this show at that time. I almost died laughing that night.
I guess they must have discovered their audience is mostly morons, and the few of us who aren't, well, they can do without that handful.
This is the most random, insane, yet brilliantly written episode in the series, lmao

Love this guy. He was the main henchmen in John Wick 1. Threw up over the balcony in the club.

Been waiting for this episode.
My favorite episode of any show I've ever seen
Fuches having no sense of urgency when Barry was bleeding to death, contrasted by yelling at Barry to help him when his hands were stuck.
This episode even works as a independent film. One of the best writen and directed on tv history.
Love whrn lilly lads on the roof of the car.."IT'S HER"...😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
One of the best episodes of anything EVER.

This is perhaps the strangest episode of a very strange series.
I kinda feel personally attacked by Funyuns being the "chip of the shady guy."
That fight scene being all a one take shot is insane to me.
And..... here we go...
This is the best episode of the series IMO
I’ve been waiting for this episode ever since you guys started reacting to Barry

Ronny went on to have a big part in Nobody, getting stabbed on a bus by ... Bob Odenkirk. The man has been kept busy as a stuntman and actor.
