He is a threat but at the same time he is rather weak and insecure man. He couldn´t deal with George McFly after George had punched him once. He can only thrive in extraordinary circumstances like this where there are no serious obstacles for his rule. He is also not highly intelligent or particularly cunning but incompetent. I think he is much like Donald Trump of the 1980s.

Now I get why Biff is considered one of the best villains in Sci-Fi. He is an average joe who torments the main character by proxy of his time-travel doppelgangers and shows how time travel can truly be used to screw up reality just on the whims of one guy.

The filmmakers should have kept the deleted scene of the burning high school, because it would have add more complication to Marty realizing he is not in the reality he returned to.

I agree, but they would have had to change the dialogue a bit by getting rid of the part where Mr. Strickland said, "Last week? The school burnt down 6 years ago." To something more like, "I still don't recognize you, and as for your "detention", you don't have to worry about it. The school is now up in flames." The reason for this is because, since Biff married Marty's mom, Marty wouldn't need to go to his old school anymore, now that his mom is married to a rich guy. He would probably either get some sort of rich class education, or probably not even have to go to a public or private school, at all. Remember, Biff now owns the country & possibly the world.
Or, Option B, you could have Mr. Strickland lower the gun, recognize Marty, and have him say, "Wait, Mr. McFly?! Is that you?! So, you're the son of a bitch who has been stealing my newspapers?!
Otherwise it wouldn't make sense. If the school "burnt down 6 years ago", then why would it still be on fire? Did they rebuild it, & then did it go up in flames again? Again though, I still agree that they should've left that deleted scene in.

This is why Biff Tannen is one of my favorite movie villains ever. He goes from your average thuggish Bully to menacing the entire TIMELINE. And his ancestors terrorize Marty no matter which era he's in.

Hmm. To be fair, Lorraine's breast implants aren't that freakishly large to be honest. She looks like a 38DD and not like a freakishly large 50 DDD. At least Biff didn't have her look like a huge FREAK and made her look kind of natural. :)
I agree. On 4:29, you can even see that Lorraine doesn’t have a happy or glad expression. It’s just a sad/upset expression because Biff killed George.

She had THREE YOUNG CHILDREN to raise and her Husband had JUST died. Linda, Dave, and Marty would have been SCREWED had Biff not decided to financially support them. Sure, Lorraine could have gotten a job after George's unexpected Death, but her first paycheck wouldn't come for at least two weeks and her kids need to EAT, so, her marrying ultra rich Biff in 1973 was actually the best option for her.

I like how this scene gives you one hint at a time of the nightmarish new reality... The ominous music, the gunshots, the screams of terror, the dog howls, the wrecked vehicles, the murder victim outlines, the passing cop cars, the trigger-happy citizens... 😱😱😨😨 And then finally the reveal of the enormous skyscraper containing the root of all the evil!

I actually did not notice either. And that’s funny because I just watched the movie earlier. I did not watch the third one but I would love to have. My sister is not a fan of the third one, so I said you are not a true back to the future fan then like you claim! I can understand if it’s her least favorite?But I mean you have to at least like it. Well respect it at least. It has a lot of good scenes in it.

I always get a kick out of the fact that Biff doesn’t even waste his time relying on the police to protect his interests. He’s got his own damn private army that’s even better equipped than the cops.
He did say that he owns the police in a later scene, though.
If you look closely, you can see that the tank has a license plate that says "Hill Valley Police." That means those soldiers and that tank are not from the US military, but one of the many benefits Biff gave to the police once he took control of them.
That second scream at 1:40 and the way he just stops is classic. Such a good actor.

I've always loved after the whole light hearted futuristic stuff , the film takes a dark turn into this Alternate 1985 and then gets exciting again when they go back to 1955.

When I saw this for the first time, I had no idea that they threw us in for a loop with this alternative reality, and then the return to 1955
2 is the best then 1. Third one was good but least fav for me
It was meant to show us just how dangerous time travel could be if misused. Technically that had been done in the first film with Marty nearly being erased, but that was something reserved exclusively to himself. Hell Valley shows how the lives of many could be upset, changed or ruined by time travel.
I hear you. I can't really decide. They're both great. Although I'm kinda leaning toward 2 now since our present is like the Alternate Biff Dystopia not the sort of Utopia seen in the 2015. It. I like the parallels it presents now more than ever.
Wish we could have really seen 2015A, futuristic and dystopian at once. Technically we did as they were leaving Hilldale, but since it was already a rough neighborhood they arguably wouldn't notice any changes

I have it, and I like how we get to see Biff's grandma, and how Strickland rewrote history in his own mind. I also like Biff's interactions with Nixon.

Well, "Biff to the Future" should be BTTF4, but in a much different vein.
After the murder of US Marshal Strickland, Mad Dog Tannen would hang by the neck,
& without him Loraine & George would have never met. Ref in BTTF.
So Doc & Marty would have to go back to the Past, 1885 to save Biff from the execution & whisk him to the mountains.
Where he would be guarded by a mountain-frontier gal that had the hots for him
& that he had to flee in the 1st place.
So this BTTF4 would be "Saving Buford Tannen".

Unpopular Opinion but Back to the Future 2 is my favorite in the trilogy!
It’s certainly a lot better than people give it credit for, but it lacks the heart of the first movie.

really wish they'd put out the full version of the Biff Tannen museum video. We only have that VHS copy someone posted on UA-cam. I was actually surprised they filmed a good amount of footage for it...and we barely see more than a few minutes of it.
I saw the three minute version of the Biff Tannen Museum and it was shown that even VERY Young Biff(Like 6)was a Bully and a Sore Loser/Cheater, messing up a Game he was losing and HITTING his equally young Classmates, kind of like how no good Henry "Rocky," Francis Valentine from A Nice Place To Visit from Twilight Zone was a Low life as an Adult and even as a child, he slaughtered a small dog, looted a Toy Store, and Organized a Street Gang....

The one thing I honestly never understood... When old Biff went back in time and gave the Almanac to his younger self, why did not the future change when he returned to 2015? Whenever Marty changes things in the past and leaps forward in time, everything always changes accordingly, so why did the same thing not happen with Biff
@@MikeWoodall It was changing. Apparently, when Old Biff was clutching his chest when he came back, a “Time Wave” was occurring which would have changed things. Unfortunately for Old Biff, he would have disappeared because at some point in 1985A, but before 2015A, Lorraine would have had enough and shot him.

I never realized the references to "It's a Wonderful Life" in this scenario.
Seeing this nightmarish version of Hill Valley and Marty seeing what became of it is kind of reminiscent to Its a Wonderful Life where George Bailey witnessed an alternate reality of Bedford Falls.
Reminds me of when Scott Lang/Ant Man finds himself in the post-Snap world after being trapped in the Quantum Realm for 5 years (which to him was 5 hours) in Avengers Endgame.
Yknow its likey they took nods from Back to the Future for Scott’s portrayal in Endgame. Plus yknow he outright mentions Back to the Future.

So just so I know the entire timeline correctly....
Timeline A: George McFly was a wuss, but married to Lorraine, and bullied by Biff. Marty was friends with Doc Brown, but everything seemed simple enough.
Timeline B: George McFly was an average guy, and married to Lorraine. Biff was his wax guy, and Marty gets fired in the future, with children alongside Jennifer.
Timeline B™: George is dead, Biff is married to Lorraine, and Marty is supposed to be in Switzerland. Hill Valley is in chaos.
Timeline C: George McFly is a normal guy while married to Lorraine, Biff is not rich and still the wax guy for George, and Marty doesn't get fired from his job because he learns to handle his irrational decisions over being called "chicken." Oh, and Coronavirus comes around in about 35 years after returning to the present day of 1985

COVID-19 has not happened yet in their timelines, the flying cars and Laser Discs were 6 years in the past when the first cases of COVID-19 were showing up in China. Nothing to worry about, just the fact that Marty somehow got born in all these alternate timelines.

Every time I watch this I’m amazed at what a dark turn the series takes. Strickland threatening to shoot Marty’s nuts off. Drive-by shootings with machine guns are apparently a common occurrence. Biff killing George and Lorraine choosing to marry an obvious sleazeball because she saw no other choice. Biff forcing Lorraine to get implants. Not complaining, mind you, because I think this is what makes part 2 interesting and memorable. No WAY this would get a PG rating today though.

Another thing that stands out for me in this scene is the music. The great composer Alan Silvestri also made the music for the Predator film, which actually sounds very similar.

Here's an idea for Back to the Future 4 that I'd like to see, and hopefully others, on the screen before we lose Christopher and Michael to death's embrace. After visiting the future (though, they've already been there), Doc's family visits Marty in the year 2035. Marty is now a successful musician. At Lou's Cafe, they inform him about the drastic change the Earth is about to undergo thanks to the effects of global warming, climate change, and the cosmic process. Marty is shocked to learn about the details of Earth's future and says, "that's some heavy news." Marty follows his routine and orders a drink but never finishes it. Doc and Clara share their plan with Marty on how to save Hill Valley and life as they know it. Biff overhears the conversation and exchanges pleasantries with Marty, Clara, and Doc. Biff offers his assistance as he is concerned for his family's safety and his own. Meanwhile, Doc has left the steam time train with Jules and Verne who are tricked by Tiff (Biff's granddaughter) into telling her how the time machine works. Tiff is the first in the Tannen family to become a scientist and has somehow predicted the Earth's future. Tired of being mocked by the media and her community, she throws the teens off the train, calls them buttheads, and heads to the future in order to escape the growing temperatures, rising sea levels, and the increase of gravity on Earth. Verne attempts to chase the train with Marty's hoverboard but is unsuccessful. Doc is shocked to learn about Tiff and these plot events and says, "Great Scott!" Nevertheless, Doc continues the plan and gains the sponsorship from the Hill Valley Preservation Society which is revealed to be a secret society that is responsible for maintaining the temporal junction point of the entire space time continuum. However, little do they know that Tiff has proliferated Earth's doom in the future by causing a third genesis flood. This comes about when she and her future self sell their idea of organic land mass production and alter their fate in the year 2055 by commercializing the control of submarine volcanoes. As a result, Earth's mass increases and a domino effect ensues. Back in 2035, Doc and the society set off on building a time traveling boat made from the homes of Lyon Estates and Hill Valley buildings (recycled materials). The courthouse's tower clock is upgraded with a flux capacitor and is placed at the boat's helm as the steering wheel. Of course, lightning (1.21 gigawatts) is needed to activate and power the time traveling boat at a specific time in the future. As per usual, Marty doesn't understand why a time machine has to be built out of a boat and Doc chastises him once more for not thinking 4th dimensionally.
He says his famous line, "where we are headed we still don't need roads," and he explains that after all the ice covering Antarctica, Greenland and mountain glaciers has melted, Earth's sea levels will rise 300 feet and open a water roadway around the globe. He also explains that the boat needs to be covered in interlocked leaves and a heavy magnetic field as they both repel water. Doc goes on to explain that this is necessary because the acceleration will be slower due to the weight of the boat and its occupants, so they will need more assistance to reach the max speed (88 mph) needed to break the time barrier and travel back to the future where Earth is habitable once more. Once the boat is built, Doc and Clara's next stage of the plan is to gather three pairs of every kind of animal and insect, a male and female. Doc and the residents of Hill Valley use shrink rays to capture and place the insects and animals in the boat. Next, they collect two pairs of all the kinds of plants, especially pine trees (making old man Peabody proud). After gathering everything they need, Doc and Marty break uncle Joey out of prison who is now 81 years old. In a flashback, it is revealed that Biff sent uncle Joey to rob the home of Emmett Brown's mother as initiation into his gang. Joey got caught and was arrested. Joey and Biff bury the hatchet and say to each other that their beef is in the past. The next stage of the plan is to wait for the day that Hill Valley will be covered by the ocean which happens the very next day. During the boarding process, Marty finds the DeLorean's license/vanity plate and attaches it to the stern of the boat by using his hoverboard. The residents of Hill Valley shrink their belongings, board the boat, and wait for their transition into a brave new world. At night, Marty wakes up thinking he's had a nightmare and is consoled by his mother. The deadline approaches and the second genesis flood comes right on time (not affected by the actions of Tiff) and so does the lightning storm. The boat receives the bolt of lightning directly into the steering wheel's circuits and it starts to accelerate the boat around the globe. The boat travels along the Earth's spin around its axis and arrives at the intended destination in the future where they retrieve Tiff and scold her for her actions. As her comeuppance, she is accidentally covered in the manure of the animals onboard the boat. They wait for the third genesis flood and once again the weather service is more reliable than the postal service. The steam time train is left behind on the train tracks and is consumed by the ocean. The lightning storm activates the time traveling boat once more and back to the future it goes. That same night, the McFly family and Tannen family have a dinner where McFly Jr. and Tiff fall in love. The occupants celebrate by having an Enchantment Under the Sea Dance on the boat's deck. Marty and McFly Jr. play a set of songs for the party guests. Later, the occupants arrive at a future moment in space and time where life is inhabitable again and start to rebuild civilization in the aftermath of the Earth's cataclysms spurred on by humankind's actions. The occupants release the animals, which reproduced during their commute, into the wild. They rebuild Hill Valley and restore the courthouse and the clock tower to its former glory. Doc and his family stay in the future and vow not to meddle with time anymore; accepting the natural flow of time and remaining organic time travelers into the future, repeating historical arcs and all.
I love this movie trilogy, also for those who don’t know (and I know a lot probably do) the song they are playing when Marty finds Biff’s hotel? Is Sammy Hagar’s “I Can’t drive 55” . (Not only am I a back to the future “freak” I am also a music freak!) and right now I’m in my 20’s. I guess you could say I am the Doc Brown of music (well one of them) because I have made it my life‘s work to become a musician and study music. Mostly rock ‘n’ roll, the first female in my family to not be a police officer or a military person. And that last part clearly does not go for just females. Considering I am the youngest of six children. And the third daughter. I guess that’s why I know this movie trilogy because my middle sister was born the same year this movie came out, she will be 36 today September 23, 2021.

Crazy how Tom Wilson played 1955 Biff, 2015 Biff and 1985 Alternate Biff in the same movie!!! And crazy how Marty meets all of them too!!!
2:46 - i like to think that this is the Clock Tower Square.. But in this alternate timeline Biff destroyed the Old clock tower and built his Mega Casino and Hotel Empire.. and also converted the park into a parking lot for the casino now a homeless camp.. A great hint for this is this classic camera position that repeats itself throughout the series to showcase how the park looks in different timelines and that big tree in the middle of the parking lot.. maybe the same tree where Doc's Lightning cable was stuck in back in 1955.
The old clock tower is still here, Biff turned in hôtel-casino but he keep the Clock Tower, and yes it's the same tree that in 1955 and in 1885 we can see a little tree 😉

My biggest contention about part II and the alternate 1985 is: Biff is so powerful and corrupt that he would likely not even be living in Hill Valley anymore. What's the point of running a big empire from a small town?
Very True he'd be worth billions and would probably have numerous homes. NYC, Palm Beach Florida, Martha's Vineyard as well as homes all over the world.

My first crushes I ever had as a little kid were on Marty McFly and young Biff Tannen. And I still get nostalgic butterflies in my stomach when I see these old scenes of Marty.
So, in an alternate reality of BTTF2 everything is normal like the life actually is and the normal world of BTTF is utopia.

Hill Valley is a small town. Small towns generally didn’t suffer from the same problems large American cities in the 80’s did, at least not nearly to the same extent.
