The change to blonde hair in the show also kind of gives off Zeus vibes. Though maybe that's just me having too strong an association between a certain blonde-haired character and Zeus...

The difference between the movies and this new Show is that "Rick Riordan" aka the Author of the Books, wasn`t involved with the Movies unlike he is with the Show. Rick Riordan himself also hand picked all the Casts for the Show..
Great start to the series! Very insightful commentary for someone new to the series. Im glad you seem to be enjoying so far. I wont answer your questions because of spoilers, but keep inquiring because youre asking the right questions! ALSO they did actually make brief mention of a child of Zeus named Thalia when Luc was explaining the concept of "forbidden children" to Percy, so it makes sense that your mind would go there when you began to suspect he was forbidden. Youre keeping up pretty well with the theories
Hi, new to the channel! I loved hearing your thoughts at the end. I grew up with the books and it's fun watching someone new to the Percy Jackson world react to this show!!
Well, the difference between the movies and this new Show is that Rick Riordan wasn`t involved with the Movies unlike he is with the Show. Rick Riordan himself hand picked all the Casts for the Show..
Annabeth is a daughter of Athena so she is really *really* smart! So, in the books, demigods don't leave very long lives because their smell attracts monsters and most of them don't get training against them before they have to face them. That's the reason Grover and his mom wouldn't tell him anything, because when a demigod becomes aware of what they are, it gets exponentially a lot more dangerous. They had to push it back as long as they could. That's the reason camp exists, if they get to go there, they get training till they're 18 and then are sent "back" to the world (there are campers that stay full time in the camp and some that go back home, won't tell which ones 😉), the camp is protected by Zeus, so no monsters can enter. From the first year you get there till your last, you gain a necklace that will gain a different bead for each year (with the year's biggest event painted), so at the end of every summer, the campers that completed the year add a bead to the necklace. When you watch the next episode, you can look for Luke, Annabeth or other campers' necklaces! In a way it's a way of counting the years they survived. In camp they develop their abilities and gain a community just like them, since most demigods have ADHD and dislexia (or one or the other), and overall just difficult lives, so it's also a bonding experience. The gods aren't really present in their children's lives as u could notice. Another book curiosity that wasn't really explained, maybe they'll say it later, but it isn't a spoiler so I'll tell: they have dislexia because their brains are wired to read ancient greek/latin, so they have a really difficult time with English. And they have ADHD because their bodies are always trying to be ready for combat! (Annabeth loveees reading - in greek - so she oftens forget she also has dislexia until she needs to read English hahahaha)
It's super interesting to see someone react to the show without knowing anything from the story, it really makes me appreciate it more. Like, it never occurred to me that Percy being a child of Poseidon instead of Zeus was a subversion of expectations. Hope you continue doing these!
Yeah. They can definitely be enjoyable if you view them as separate works. But if you are watching them as adaptations..... oh man. It's a struggle lol
Honestly, I love the immediate "chill older brother" vibes that Luke has. Despite being so young himself, you can definitely see him looking out for the even younger Annabeth.
I read these books before I was 10 and the Riordanverse has been with me ever since. Every series he has is connected in some way. Percy Jackson and thr Olympians leads into Heroes of Olympus, which leads into Trials of Apollo. Interconnected are the Kane Chronicles (Egyptian mythology) and the Magnus Chase series (Norse mythology) and a few one off books in between. I may be in my 20s now, but these stories will always have a special place in my heart and i could be married with kids and still first in line for a new book in this universe. I highly recommend reading them when you have the chance, although maybe wait until after this season is over for a good, completely surprising set of reactions. Its always fun to see what people think when they know nothing about the source material.
New to your channel and I already love the way you’re reacting to this show! I love watching people with no prior knowledge react to an adaptation a lot more than watching people who already know the source material, it makes for a much more fun reaction experience. And you seem like a very insightful reactor already. The reaction is soo good so far, although I don’t exactly like one choice they made regarding Percy’s stepfather. I won’t go into detail because I still hold out hope they’ll dive into that at some point but other than that, I’m a big fan of the show so far! It sticks very closely to the book and the author even had a cameo in the first episode back when Percy was questioned by the principal. Finally, I just wanted to mention that the books originally started out as a bedtime story for the author’s son, who has both ADHD and dyslexia. Hence why the demigods all have those as well. One thing the episode didn’t quite spell out is the fact that Percy was kicked from every school he’s *ever* been to. Meaning, as he is in 6th grade (right? I’m not American we count school years a little differently) this means he’s already been to six different schools. So he’s never really made lasting friendships before, always being the new kid. That’s why the moment where he finally made friends hits so hard. can’t wait for your future reactions 😊
Oh my god, you have NO IDEA how happy I am your watching this, Chainsaw! AND it's a blind reaction! These books where basically my entire personality in late middle/early high school, I am BEYOND excited to finally have an adaptation! (Movies? What movies?)
So glad you are reacting to this! Just found your channel bc of this show and i love it! I love seeing people with no prior knowledge about the story watch this show it is so exciting to see people learn about this world for the first time!
The reason Clarisse was so mad that Percy broke her spear is unfortunately not clarified in the TV series. In the book, its mentioned that it was a gift from her father.
Percy doesn’t really have a force push. The water grabbed her from behind and pulled her in. I think they just didn’t wanted to show it that way to spoil his water powers.
I recommend that after this season is over, you go read the first book. The first season is based on the first book. This series is amazing, and I guarantee that when you finish the first book, you’ll have to restrain yourself from reading the rest.

I know it's too early to say because we only have three episodes at the moment, but I'm very satisfied with the series (and I can say that because I've read all the Percy Jackson books and other books that continue the story)
Watch the movies, they are better than this show so far and it's only bad because it didn't do the book justice but after these few episodes I'd say it's good they didn't follow the books.
The movies are nothing like the book they changed everything to be more mainstream the author hates them and i dont blame him. Good thing he worked on this show tho its much more faithful.

It's understandable to think Zeus would be Percy's father. Percy's full name is "Perseus". In Greek mythology, Zeus was the father of Perseus.

This show is great. I love the concept Rick Riordan created and it lends itself so well to a tv adaption.
So with the fountain scene if you look closely you can see the water wrap itself around Nancy and pull her in
I mean the Camp for Demigods thing isn't that odd if you compare it to the X-Mansion training up powered individuals
I love the book series I hope they continue into the Heroes of Olympus series too.
Please watch the new episode!
Today!
it's Annabeth's guess that Percy could be a son of Zeus as well in the book, so you're not alone in this lol

In the books everyone suspected that Zeus was Percy's father because Zeus was an infamous horn dog that banged everything he saw.
