This is so awesome and sad at the same. The mind is still there, so many stories. Great spirit. But the body is just failing. I'm just so glad he made it this long. 90 year old comedy genius and was always consistent.
These two together covers generations of comedy. Don though will always be the man of warmth towards all. May be irony in saying he had warmth but it was all in his heart.
My favorite episode so far. Judd is an amazing person with a killer memory and a sentimental side and he exudes respect like a strong cologne on a warm night.
I grew up in the UK so only the last ferw years heard of Don when I saw this podcast with Scorsese and De Niro, But I remember Kellys Heroes and Bridge over the River Kwai as two stand out war films as a kid when we had a black and white telly
Just to be clear. If they have any reason they will turn on you in Hollywood. The town thrives on spitting out the old or ignoring them. The town even ignored Moe Howard and Larry of the Three Stooges. If Rickles had been a diva, he would not have been as loved right till the end. Don Rickles called Stern one day and Howard Stern snapped to. When Rickles visited him, Stern stood for the whole interview and later escorted Don onto the set of Letterman, sitting by his side. I've met a lot of people in the business just because of where I lived. Someone I knew since childhood was married to someone big in the business who comes off as really nice on camera; but, is a piece of shit. I will not mention their name as they are still alive. Nobody talks shit about Rickles and they better pray they never do because too many people love him that knew him. Rickles was sharper and funnier than anyone at his age except George Burns. Both worked right till then end and never lost it. Difference was, Rickles performed without a net.
I can't believe they missed an opportunity for an old-school joke, "What's near a strip club?", which, with Rickles' delivery could've been anything...
Don Rickles is one of the funniest comedians. Judd Apatow is extremely talented as a writer. He is one of the creators of one of my favorites Freaks and Geeks. One of the nerds is based on him.
You can tell when the guy is a genuine fan. Judd Apatow sighting performance after performance, specific shows...really fun one, could have watched another 8:42.
The way Don sincerely dismisses Totie Fields as a mere woman shows a real weakness of character. Guess some folks just can’t get it right no matter how long they live.
Knowing Apatow's deep knowledge of comedians, he didn't include Pryor in that particular group of comedians, i.e. late '50s/early 60s. He would probably group Pryor with Carlin and stand ups that became big in the late 60s. I bet he did mention Bill Cosby but it got edited out.
Whatever you think of Apatow as a person, he's been a writer, director, or producer on Anchorman The 40-Year-Old Virgin Pineapple Express Forgetting Sarah Marshall Talladega Nights Funny People Step Brothers Wanderlust Superbad Walk Hard The Larry Sanders Show Girls Freaks And Geeks and many others. He and good comedy seem to wind up in the same place a lot.
I like some of Apatow's movies, and loved Freaks & Geeks, but he is to Rickles in comedy what Trump is to Lincoln in politics--technically in the same business, but an asterisk compared to a legend...
Don't disagree...but one is a stand-up, and Apatow became a film maker. Never achieved stand-up stardom, and until recently had walked away from standup as a performer. But Rickles never directed a film either.
@ hmm wonder why you'd consider Lincoln to be the worst hmmm.

@@leelohaskin7941 The intentional slaughter of the most humans in history to that point in time. And of his OWN people, has a lot to do with it. The fact that he was an unabashed openly bigoted racist and white supremacist didn't help much either.
I love how Don’s face lit up when Judd mentioned Rodney Dangerfield, another great comedian! 😃👍🏻
haha I was waiting for this. Didn't disapoint
I just finished watching all of these. Truly man who could punch you with his words while hugging you with his heart.
A wonderful and uncommon skill.
This is so awesome and sad at the same. The mind is still there, so many stories. Great spirit. But the body is just failing. I'm just so glad he made it this long. 90 year old comedy genius and was always consistent.
10😮😢
He died about four months after these great segments
Absolutely the cleanest comedian, funniest human being that ever lived! Sharp as a tack to the end. R.I.P my Hero!
I wouldve been so humbly honored to have met Don. I wouldve hugged him, kissed his cheek, looked him in the eye and say " thank you" 😊😘✨
DominiQue White and he’d say “who are you?”
Love the sly smile on Don's face. RIP one of the GOATS.
These videos were fantastic. One thing I always noticed, Don never ate a damn thing! God bless him, May he rest in peace. Thanks for the laughs Don.
“Why is he here, is the war over???” OMG 😂😂😂

Whaaat! How amazing was the judd/mushroom story!? Thats amazing!
thats the most i've ever heard Judd speak in an interview...
well when your with don you ask as much as you can if you can !
Was just gonna say, I love JA , BUT SOUNDED LIKE HE WAS INTERVIEWING HIMSELF, STILL GREAT THO
Watch his one with Jerry Seinfeld in Comedians in Cars man he was so talkative I thought he was in coke
I love how Judd is talking so loud and pronounced like Don is deaf. He's old. Not dead
Actually
Judd Apatow was a cutie patootie back in high school 😊
I hope that last part is auto correct.
I think that’s just how he talks lol
Self importance does that to people.😮
im a grown ass man at 56 and all these make me tear up everytime. He was like our crazy Grampy growing up. loved him. Another era gone.
I grew up in the UK so only the last ferw years heard of Don when I saw this podcast with Scorsese and De Niro, But I remember Kellys Heroes and Bridge over the River Kwai as two stand out war films as a kid when we had a black and white telly
Judd Apatow makes Rickles look understated and tactful.
Don propping someone up till the end, respect!
Love to see this done with Bob Newhart. He really is the last of the old Vegas comics standing.
Somehow, during this interview, the phrase 'the Emperor Palpatine of Love' popped into my head. . . . ?
Sad seeing Don so thin, yet he was as sharp as a razor. He is missed.
Imagine what a legend you are when you get to forget Richard Pryor's name
Was anyone else shouting Richard Pryor at the screen!!
Someone should get Don Rickles on Broadway now. Fulfill his dream
He died last year bud
The decomposition might hinder his movement but they have prosthetic for that now I'm sure.
I think he did do something on Broadway. Or at least a ton of live shows all over the country.
erm....Don is someplace thats even better than Broadway now
Sorry to break it you but he died

What has been seen can never be unseen.
I love when Don mentioned Joan Rivers. They both were legendary comics. RIP to the both beautiful souls. 😇😇

I've actually saw Don yesterday at a restaurant, was so cool to see him!
did you know him before you saw him?
He died 6th April. You need to stop lying.
Glorius - That's so weird, because I really did meet him, I had a photo with him

In music and movie (non comedic), writers don’t get nearly as famous as comedy writers... like Jud and Mel Brooks. It’s a very interesting world
Fire the sound guy that did this episode.
Did he say....Will Smith?? Geez...
Don couldn’t care less about judd
Me either!
i miss ricklels
Judd sure likes to talk about himself a lot.
God, imagine if he had done an episode with Eddie Murphy
😂Time Capsule material 😇
Every comedian with the bill joke🙄
God damnitt these intros kill me
How the hell did Judd bag Leslie is beyond me.
Louis CKs new hour is better than anything judd has ever put out.
I was disheartened when judd didn't name Richard. Don may you rest in peace O.G. Richard pryor had the stand up everyone remembered

Wanna know what Rickles is drinking 🤔
Vodka
Enough about you Don....more about me......Judd this is not about you
So, seriously, let Rickles speak.
Don never eats. I've watched.
I love how thick Judd is

Don seems pushed over to continue with him
this is great - these guys are all but gone - only a handful left

Thought you had to be someone of significance in order to be a guest?
Judd is beyond annoying.
Looks like Judd Apatow is totally wasted in this interview. Maybe he was too nervous. I would be talking to Don Rickles. :-)
Is there anyone more disgusting the Judd Apatow?
Nope.

Why the hate on Apatow? He’s a movie guy, not a standup comedian.
Because he’s aggressively obnoxious and self-centered, that’s why. The worst kind.
The saddest part of watching this video was the realization that alot of my heroes, such as Judd Apatow, are getting really old
This guy is wasted
