Great recipe as I lived in Sweden many years. Instead of breadcrumbs you can also tear up some bread and soak it in cream or milk for a few minutes and then add to the meat mixture. Amazon has lingonberry jam from Sweden too. This is a Sunday supper for us at least twice a month. Looks delicious. We always pan fried them to brown then baked in the oven to finish them off and used the browning from the pan to use in the sauce. There is no wrong way to make them. We serve them with mashed potatoes and lingonberry jam. Then we have some mixed veggies of some sort on the side.
Thanks for sharing!
This lady should know better. And make sure she has no nail polish or acrylic nails .especially when she s not using gloves
Gravy I cook meatballs in cast iron skillet then use juices to brown flour and slowly mix whole milk in for rich creamy gravy. And after frying my venison I will save old oil and pieces for later in a quick easy gravy recipe it’s all about preparations. As with all cooking I a seasoned self proclaimed chef specializing in wild game cooking deer elk salmon. All harvested with in 30 minutes from my residence come on by sometime
Thanks for the tips!
Those sound so good, Christina! Thanks for sharing!
They are!
I can't wait to try this!
Thank you my Swedish friends will love me❤
Hope you like it! Enjoy!
Thanks for sharing your recipe
My pleasure 😊I love that my grandma's recipe is being enjoyed by others.
Really enjoy your site, informative and not lots of chit chat. I’m making these for a bday. Smaller as an app. Approximately 100, can you advise me on quantities. Thanks much
Awesome, thank you! It truly depends on the size. I would double to start. You can always make extra and freeze.
Do you always use the oven? I grew up with my mother using the frying pan.
Truly we always used both.
One of my friends always makes a LOT of meatballs. She uses the oven and afterwards put them in the freezer. When it's time for this culinary gold she takes them out in the morning and in the evening gives them a fry for the crispy texture.
The best of both worlds 😉😊
Yes. It pained me to see all that flavor stuck to the paper, instead of being added to the gravy
I have a question, what is the difference between Italian and Swedish meatballs, yours looked lovely 😊
The main difference is of course the sauce that they are cooked in. But there can also be difference in the type of meat and seasonings that can be incorporated.
Different seasonings.
Siden du er halvt norsk så kanskje du forstår hva jeg skriver her. Hvor i Norge er moren din i fra? Artig at du lager skandinavisk mat. Har du prøvd fårikål? Kanskje en ide for kanalen din?
Add little garlic infused olive oil
Great suggestion! Garlic makes everything better in my book!
Ours is way spicier served with formed read clumped potatoes And green beans.
Looks really good! But your sauce is a little runny, too soupy for me.
You can always thicken it with cornstarch if you prefer a thicker sauce.
IKEA sells meatballs? Since when? I thought it was like an appliance store
They have a cafe. They have always sold them in my IKEA.
Hopefully the parchment paper didn’t go in the oven too just saying 😋😋
Parchment paper is oven safe so it did go into the oven without issue.
The bar is pretty low if you're comparing to IKEA. They're rubbery. Their gravy they use isn't very good either, rather tasteless.
This is my grandmothers recipe but most people only know the IKEA recipe which is very propular.
This was the same as all the other recipes
There sure are a lot of recipes out there!
No offense but ANY meatballs are better than the IKEA meatballs😅, the meatballs at IKEA taste nothing like authentic Swedish meatballs!
I’m Swedish but living in the US (20 years now). Thanks for the recipe, I like the idea of putting them in the oven rather than sautéing since the meatballs easily lose their shape and dry out , I like to put my meatballs in the air fryer at the end of cooking to achieve a slightly crispy surface. I agree that lingon (or moderately sweet cranberry jam) is essential for this dish.
Thanks for the insight.
You can cook even if you can’t read! 🧐🫤😏
