Hello to all !! ... Good short and to the point video on this 1974-D Lincoln "Aluminum" Cent . All info in this video is pretty much point on . The only thing on this "aluminum" Cent is that it has been declared - ILLEGAL - to own , sell , attempt to sell , trade or barter ... ( plus many other words that all = up to illegal to own) ... With that said there is no auction house that would cosign this specimen . As the producers of this video accurately inform - it has been established that at least 2 - 3 more of this 1974 cent do exist ... and are *most likely coveted in private collections ... never to surface publicly ... as they would eventually be confiscated . I dont believe that there is a team of "G-Men" actively searching for any other thought to exist .. but something of this magnitude would most likely bring much attention if one were to come into the light. As far as finding any in **real sealed** Rolls ... it could happen ...just like anything is possible Lets put it this way - I have about 200 *sealed unsearched unopened rolls of the 74-D cent ... and i wouldnt open any in the futile hopes of finding the subject cent error . (( and i sell these rolls for under $20.00) < and what i mean is that if i thought one of the aluminum errors may be in a roll ... it would be a very cheap venture to search em all. Thanks for reading ( i was very long winded) and much respect to the folks who make these vid's !!
@@mont5584 Hey Monk - I believe in 2016 a 1974 D aluminum cent was set for auction when the "coin police" charged in and ceased the coin. ( Well it was actually "Mint Authorities" I believe.) . The reasons i have heard are many from : "it was not authorized for production" to "it was deemed to have left the mint by way of theft". I also remember that a T.V. program highlighted this cent and if you Search Engine : why is it illegal to own the aluminum 1974 d cent - or somthing close to that ... many articles will pop up on the issue. All my best !! Chris
Clarification : Im sorry guys idk if it was a 1974 P cent or a 1974 D cent ... in my responses i used the Denver minted 1974 cent ... thanks again to all !! C.G.
Could it have been a sample, pre Congress submission? I am just learning about all of these details and find it fascinating that there are so many 'errors' out there with pressing coins. I guess it might be variance tolerances from the mint's cost ratio of scrapping and redoing.

I have 1 original Lincoln penny made of another metal. The question is: is it possible to auction it without certifying? Do you think that Mr. Randy Lawrence returned it in exchange for financial compensation? Thanks.
I have a silver colored 1974 penny with no mint mark. It looks silver colored throughout. How can I find out if it's the real deal. Should it be magnetic or not? What else?
We found a penny that seems to be an aluminum penny that doesn't seem to be something somebody just coated and it has the double stamp error to the left of Lincoln and is pretty I noticed you're talkin of a 74 but ours is a 73 and I believe they're worth 73 aluminum correct?

That’s sucks. A guy that worked for me on my construction crew received this coin in change . He thought it was fake. I held it in my hand , it was a 1974 D and he wouldn’t sell it to me. He has since passed away . God only knows where it is at now. This was near Saginaw Michigan in 2011. Thanks for the interesting video!
Same thing here in Australia one old Rolex watch. The price was 8,000 US dollar but in reality it cost like 200,000. But I was with the dealer up and down to make for $7,000. However, I went out to have a coffee and I tell him that I will come back in 30 minutes or hour or so. What happened is somebody else went there and buy it right away without question. When I went back he told me I'm sorry I sold already. I did not think much but after day or two I checked in the internet and it was really mind-blowing but sometimes things happen 😢

1926 is just a normal penny. It means 1926-P. P stands for Philadelphia, but it is not written on the Lincoln cent. If it is in excellent condition, I can buy it.
I thought those are illegal to own??? One sold for 2,000000 after the sale it was confiscated by the mint. EIEI OH MY!! 👌👍🏴☠️🇺🇸 Sort of like finding gold. Silence is Golden!!
@@ronbarnhardt5201 it's because you can't fucking read! Nowhere does it say their illegal. Only one in question was the Denver minted one and a federal judge ruled against the mint. The Fed's dropped the case on the Philadelphia minted one's and said that there was no ill intent on anyone that has them.
Hello...I'm just wondering if there are a lot of fake aluminum pennies out there? I actually have one, but I haven't seen it in a while now. I can't remember if it has a mint mark on it or not. I guess I'll have to put it on my to-do list and see how much it weighs. Thanks for the information.✌️
@Dirk Diggler yes Dirk(or should I address you as Jerk)? I actually have one, but it's been away in my closet for several years now. Does that help clarify it for you? You sound like a simpleton. Did you even bother to read the full comment? I doubt it. Miserable much?

Can you please help me i have a 1933 penny Lincoln with a s mint mark but i cannot find anything on the internet with a s marked? Hopefully you can help me out. Thank you
I remember when I was a kid I had one a my dad took it from me a put it in his wallet and said he was going to keep it because it could be worth a lot of money. I don't know what happened to it. Then about 3 years ago I was over a friend house who absolutely hated change and said I could have it. So I ended up finding a silver or aluminum penny and opened my mouth and he said I could not have it. He ended up dying from the virus and I don't know what happened to it. I think it was aluminum because a magnet stuck to it.
If it is from the year 1943, they are actually steel, changed because of the lack of copper during the war. If it is from 1944, it could be valued at over $100,000.
P.s I found two of them , 74 p. 74 d and the rarest of all was my 1943 s plastic penny and my 75 no s dime and last year I found 1984 no s proof dime # 1.8grs all stoked
You are absolutely right! I hate when people like him spread faults information. He needs to read everything on them and that includes the federal court case on the Denver minted one. Nothing what he said is true.
I found one of these coins today at work in the tip jar. What should i do now/ any advice
