I live in America and I've been to Cape Town twice.. I've also been to Johannesburg do Johannesburg twice but only in the airport and by far it is probably the best airport I've ever been to in Johannesburg! That place is insane I stayed at 2 different places the 1st place I stayed on my 1st trip was at camp's Bay retreat And by far with their singing chef it was the best food I ate in Cape Town with the exception of of my 2nd trip where I had lunch in hout Bay on the waterfront. Both were 5 stars in my opinion but if I got to pick one last meal on this planet it would be at camp's Bae retreat made by their singing chef! The 2nd time I stayed for a month in hot Bay and it was a nice experience. I've been skydiving I've been to to go on safari oh I'm so sorry I almost swam with the sharks but but it not enough time for that 1 I have to say I did experience it's a different swear as at Johannesburg airport they had military inside and at Cape Town well let's just say their security is extremely lacking You're right about trying to find friends there but I made friends with the hotel staff and had the best time and our lifelong friends and hopefully I can get one of the housekeepers and her two daughters to come visit me here in America Thank you for your video I feel kind of homesick now
Lol me again when I lived in Pretoria I was glad that I was a loner and although I made friends quickly.. I also found it to be too much. Lol. Atleast I could stay locked up in my house when I didn't feel like being social. But yes people are always inviting you over which is nice though. I have since moved back to cape Town a year ago and still haven't seen much of my family. Lol we are wierd like that. I think im turning into a recluse though.
I miss Gauteng. I grew up in cpt... Moved to Pretoria in 2015 and then back to cpt 2021...i had a ball over there. One could easily mingle with many different kinds of people. In the beginning it was a bit overwhelming but lekker. I then realized what people would always saw about cape Town being a different country. The vibe is totally different. Since I moved back to cape Town I so just kept to myself lol its like I can't relate to anyone anymore
Totally agree with your appraisal of social groups, moving to Skaapstad it took me almost a year to find my mense and to start to build friendships. In Jozi I could do that in one night.
Why does everyone complain about cape Town? It's lekker here. I will never go somewhere for people.. But ok that's me. And I'm just a loner like that. I always enjoy getting lost in a crowd where no one knows me. Also over here the way we are is everyone will just be in their families and friends we grew up with. But then again I'm a non social person in general. And yeah go out join social groups you can make friends that way.
@@supremepinahcolada9667 naaa like even with our neighbors we keep to ourselves.. I don't know hey. To me it's wierd just to insert yourself In other people's lives. Yet I did feel more free to do so when I lived in Pretoria. Then when I moved back to cape Town it was just me on my ownsome anyway and I think I grew more antisocial here in cape Town. Just doing my own thing. Also I think with age I just don't go out much and just keep to myself.. So it works for me I think.
Lol here but we not gonna be friends 😂 it's actually such a topic. So I don't think we really care though because we have our friends and such. I mean we friendly if t hey ask for directions and suc.... And then we part ways. In Gauteng they will show you directions, the invite you over to their house for a braai. Lol
@@AGirlNamedVanAs a born and bred Cape Townian (for perspective, middle-aged, coloured male) I beg to differ, but I guess we all have our own experiences. #CapeTownLove
I beg to disagree with you. There are definitely Shopping Malls in Cape Town. A lot of Malls. I think your opinion of Cape Town is fraught with prejudice.
Oh really, No malls in Cape Town? 🤔 I'm from Cape Town and I 100% disagree with you on that, there's a lot of malls in Cape Town and surroundings. You probably haven't been to one yet. V&A Waterfront, Canal Walk, Bayside Mall, Somerset Mall, etc to name a few. So start exploring and give viewers accurate info. 😊
I would say that the city has a higher presence of law enforcement but that doesn’t deter from the unfortunate reality of violence and crime in South Africa. With that said the city bowl is much sheltered than the outlying suburbs. My final note as a South African is that I take precautions to not place myself in situations where I am vulnerable to crime but I also choose to not be paranoid and live my life in fear. Use your discernment, move smart 😉
It's quite safe in the city in my opinion... I've never seen any crime actually.. But shady people do exist. But it's way safer than other places. You can walk around the streets and be ok. But like use logic and you will be ok
Hey all, I’m thinking of moving to South Africa in a couple years. I’ll be 26 and I’m a white English guy. Which would be better for me? Joburg or Cape Town? Primarily on the safety aspect, lifestyle aspects, and finally the dating/social life, I won’t have any friends in SA so would need to make some I’ll be earning R15500 per month before tax. Which city would I get the most value in? Thank you In advance
With that money you will get more in Joburg, but Cape Town is much more safer though and you could also live a comfortable life in Cape Town with that money
@@phindileRams Cape Town CBD and surburbs are generally much safer than Johannesburg CBD and suburbs. You can actually walk with your phone in a cape Town CBD at night because the neighborhoods have a constant neighborhood watch that's something you can't do in a Johannesburg CBD
Joburg is the best City in South Africa. People are friendly and easier to go. You must just get a good job so that you stay in the Suburbs. Cape Town is for rich people, whites and etc. And western cape has too much crime yhooo. Those coloured guys zase Cape flats 😭😭😭
As a Capetonian I love Joburg but I get tired of the freeways. You have to use a freeway to go to the loo.

Your video really helps :) I’m leaning into relocating to Cape Town
I’m glad that it gave you some insight into relocating!
Let me know how your move goes :-)

First time on your channel. Helpful video, thank you for sharing beautiful.
Cape town has some really great malls....besides the waterfront...century city is one of the many
She said there are no malls.😭😭
Excellent local video of South African Cities thank you Kagiso
When you talk about Cape Town do you include the Cape flats like khayalitsha or Manenburg or you talk about white areas only.
CBD not poor suburbs
