I think so too. They can bill this as the greatest threat to his reign yet due to the numbers and calibre of competitors. And WHEN he retains, Cody at Mania, Cody beats him, makes Cody's win even greater. Bit difficult 🤷🏻♂️😂

i think this is smart because it'll help randy with taking less bumps and not have to worry about him as much when there are others, also chance for roman to sweep them all.
Aldis telling Heyman about the four way off mic plays into what Aldis and Heyman set up weeks ago. When Aldis told Heyman that all communications between management and Reigns goes through The Wiseman
I think it was a missed opportunity for at good pop, but "story-wise" you are probably right. Kind of like the idea of Aldis forcing Heyman to be the bearer of bad news, just to watch him squirm.

Yeah he puts a lot of negativity out there, don’t know if he is the guy for reviews when he admittedly hates everything. Sure he’s a sweet guy and all but still, Kinda a downer half the time

@@ChidzCLAW it is really frustrating, this journalists who say they hate tribalism but doesn't see they are on it too. Nitpicking at every little thing WWE does but AEW gets a pass. Don't they realize viewers enjoy watching when they are enjoying too. I'm not saying everyone here. I enjoy watching Sat and Dan because of the enthusiasm and they get it and actually enjoys what they are watching they criticize it but in a fair manner. Don't do the show if your not Happy about it.
@@Ryuanren I doubt it’s them “giving AEW a pass for it” and moreso that these things with wwe have been happening for years so people are tired when they see similar mistakes being made so often. It’s likely just fatigue with wwes issues, you do see them be this downer about AEW when it comes to their consistent issues.
For the ending of the show you can see it as the same old “bloodline ending” but remember, most of the time they leave with no consequences. Nick Aldis had no hesitation with dealing out the punishment. I think thats the change this year. Romans been gone and has gotten to be too relaxed, or making rash decisions because the bloodline isn’t as strong as it used to be and he NEEDS to make them look strong to convince himself he isn’t on the downslide. Its harder for him to keep control and that will be the ultimate story this year. Not just someones rise, but Romans spiral to his eventual defeat.
It's year 4 of this storyline. The original nWo storyline wasn't this long. I'm tired of Roman winning all the time and standing tall every show ( that's when he's actually showing up for work).I want something new and fresh. Not Malibu Roman.

Pete you are thinking too much. The ending of the triple threat was Roman thought he'll stick it to Aldis by ruining the match but Aldis isn't like Pearse and stuck it back to Roman by making it a fatal 4 way.

I really really don't enjoy Pete as a reviewer, and it's not because I disagree with his takes, not everyone is going to enjoy the same things in wrestling and that's okay, like what you like. The issue is that his analysis never goes anything beyond going through the big moments of a match or segment and then assigning them "fine" "pretty good" etc.
I think Roman’s goal was to force a no-contest and therefore, there’s no winner of the match, no number 1 contender and no one to face at the Rumble. While it’s happened a lot yes, it makes sense that Roman doesn’t see anyone in this match on his level, so he wouldn’t want to face anyone in the match at the Rumble.
I genuinely enjoyed the show I get some of Pete criticism but I was very much entertained
1 Owens & Escobar delivered with the right result & I like that the LWO took out Carrillo & Garza. If Rey is back in time for WrestleMania I could see us getting a big ten man tag match at WrestleMania with Rey Cruise Joaquin Carlito & Dragon Lee vs Escobar Dom Garza Carrillo & a returning Andrade since he has reportedly signed with WWE
2 I’ve always liked Kross I think his big pushes probably like a lot of big plans Hunter after Mania got delayed because of the five month period Vince was back in creative after mania before Endeveour removed Vince. AOP really liked as a throw team & though highly of there work in NXT. Paul Ellering should definitely be a mouth piece for the group a feud with an over like Lashley group can hopefully get them over. We’ve seen other acts that Hunter pushed recently like Escobar Dragon Lee & DIY get over with the audience hopefully this works out well for then. Also AOP are a solid addition to the tag division.
3 Mia Yim vs Io Shirai delivered & was a great showcase for Yim hopefully she gets more opportunities like this to showcase herself. I’m into the Bayley & Damage CTRL storyline & I’m all for Babyface Bayley vs Io Shirai at WrestleMania. Charlotte injury is unfortunate for her & while I don’t wish for anyone to get injured it may have been a blessing for the rest of division as we are seeing other wrestlers like Mia Yim get an opportunity to step up & be in the title. Genuinely I’ve been impressed with the rebuilding of the tag & woman’s division in WWE since Hunter take over they are stacked.
4 I do want Pete Dunne to get his name back but having him & Bate as a tag team on the main roster is the way to go a new British Strong Style without Trent Seven. Glad Bate on the main roster he has been in WWE for seven years now & when he was in NXT up until the rebrand in 2021 I think we all did consider it the third brand. I think moving Ridge to NXT & putting Bate on SmackDown is a good swap & adds to a stacked tag division. WWE might genuinely have the best tag division right now in wrestling & they have really been putting a lot of time & effort into. Ever since the Sami Zayn Kevin Owens & Bloodline story those titles have actually felt like they matter & have been elevated look at the stacked tag division they have. On RAW you got Alpha Academy Creed Brothers DIY Imperium The Judgement Day tag team of Balor & Priest as well as The Judgment Day Tag Team of Dom & JD you also have The New Day Indus Sheer & The Viking Raiders. On SmackDown you got AOP A Town Down Under British Strong Style Legado World Order Latino World Order The OC Prietty Deadly & The Street Profits. Honestly it’s a good looking you got Nineteen tag teams across both shows. Nine on RAW & eight on SmackDown. There are also some teams from NXT that could be called up to make it bigger if they wanted. Honestly WWE could & I think should split the tag titles the divisions big enough for it to justify a split.
5 I did enjoy the main event I assumed either Ortan or Styles were winning & Knight was there to take the pin the finish suprised but also continues the antagonist relationship between Aldis & Reigns . With the four way being set up it changes The Roman formula & it wouldn’t suprise if this is how WWE gets the belt of Roman if him vs Rock is happening at WrestleMania

Raw and Smackdown were great this week, shame the reviews didn’t really reflect that.
The thing that i like About HHH era, is just because someone doesnt get a push and look strong for now, that doesnt mean forever. Example Kross and Damage Control etc
I personally really like the fatal 4-way match. And especially how it’s now Herman’s job to tell Roman about it, maybe something interesting can happen with that?
I think Sat is onto something with Nick Aldis. Along with getting to a fatal 4 way, they clearly started building tension with him and Roman last week, and I think it could grow into even more. This could be how it ends up with Roman double main eventing Wrestlemania. One night against The Rock, and the other against Cody Rhodes. Because he pushed Nick too far so he makes this booking for Roman
This is the first title defense in ages that Roman doesn't have the numbers advantage and it's because he was upset that Rock came back and mentioned his name. If Jimmy and Solo try to get involved, They have to take all 3 of Knight, Orton and Styles out to win. And you have to know that Gallows, Anderson and Mia Yim are probably still on AJ's side and are playing the long game.
Personally, I think your going to see a title change at the Rumble, probably Randy. That leaves you Rock vs Roman, Jey vs Jimmy vs Solo, La Knight vs Logan Paul for US Title, Rollins vs Punk for WHC, Cody vs Randy for WWE title
Roman isn’t losing that title before WrestleMania lol

@wrestletalk Pete if you think back to it, Roman reigns started making these erratic moves because of the power dynamic between him and Nick Aldis so though normally his character is calculating he didn’t have a back-and-forth power struggle dynamic with Adam Pierce so that’s why he’s not making rationale moves

After the bloodline attacked, Roman should have said "This is my ring, my table and my seat!" And it would connect the Rock and why he attacked the triple threat match.
I personally really, really enjoyed this weeks episode of Smackdown. Every match delivered for me, with the exception of KO v Santos.
I think all of Pete’s criticisms are fair. It’s interesting the comments on the WWE podcast videos are usually people upset about whoever is critiquing WWE..it’s the whole point of the podcast 😂

I love how Pete said he hated the booking and that we've seen it too many times, then when challenged to come up with something better came up with something worse that he didn't even fully map out how it would work and was actually also very much in the space of things we've seen a million times before (the tournament he proposed, not the weird and basically impossible triple pin situation
To get to a fatal 4way, do one of two options.
1- announce a fatal 4 with 3 qualifying matched over the next few weeks.
2- have Roman cut a promo saying he's not going to wrestle at RR. Bloodline destroys everyone b4 the match even starts. 10 minutes of bloodline carnage.

For the main event, the story is there for why Roman did what he did. There has been clear confrontation between Aldis and Reigns/Heyman. Reigns didn’t approve of the triple threat so he ruined it so there would be no winner. He didn’t think Aldis would do anything. That’s the story. Whether you like it or not is up to you. But to say there was no reason is wrong

I think a three way pin is way worse than what they did, it would be so easy to mess up. When we get to the rumble and the match, no one is gonna remember this match.

I know Pete gets a lot of hate, but one thing I agree with Pete on is the fact that triple threats are no DQ so it technically would still be going on lol. But for my own head cannon I’m gonna assume aldis called a stoppage once Roman interfered.
It was a New Years Revolution in terms of the new talent and stories that theyre setting up for 2024. I liked it
First time Roman will be outnumbered and against it, I like this direction and think it'll be a great match at the rumble. This also frees up more spots in the rumble match itself too. Like tge AOP return especially with Paul Ellering by there side, that should be a top 6 man match when that happens. Sorry Pete but I think your finish is far too complex, I agree with Sat.
I think it was more or less Roman making a statement to Nick Aldis
I truly believe this movement from Roman represents the beginning of the end. He has been the author of his success, smart, deadly, unstoppable... But this might show that the cracks within the bloodline are unfixable,, so he's making dumb moves and sloppy decisions to keep himself in the top. Too many contenders (Rock, cm punk, randy, cody... All of them involved with him, and mentioning him, and his title, thanks to a promo or a match) are starting to make him feel threatened, therefore he will do anything to keep himself as the head of the table, even things that we clearly see as dumb, but he sees them as the right choice. And that will be his self destruction, because he is the only one who can destroy himself. Besides, a fatal 4 way at the rumble opens the idea in our minds of a triple threat match at Mania (following the tradition of triple threats every 10 manias) between Roman, Cody and someone else. Night 1 he loses the head of the table title against the rock, and night 2 he loses the wwe title against any other contender in a triple threat match. A proper farewell, the empire has fallen and now he is just a fallen former champion who has been the author of his own decadence.

Easy answer. Have the Bloodline attack, and they're about legitimately hurt them when Aldis calls security out to stop them. The escape but are proud of the damage they caused. Aldis chastises Reign and makes it a 4 way. Boom, solved.
Eric Biscoff is still my favorite GM. He actually felt like the GM, everyone after him minus Teddy Long and a few others were good, I like Aldis but most feel like a parody of Eric...

And then the same reviewer does not hold other companies to the same high standards, it starts to become unwatchable . Wearing good jeans isn't a problem. DDP did it for a few years, and they were a fixture of bunkhouse matches.

I think this is how we get to Rock v Roman at EC Aldis will book it in a power play aswell as a number one contenders EC featuring those who have lost to Reigns in the past year which Cody wins and then gets to Mania to finish the story.
Sat continues to be a gem.
The four way is a great idea, I think pretty much all of Romans title matches during his reign have been one on one ( I think) why not change up the formula of his matches a bit.
Sat CAN make dad jokes and so can Luke.
Pete, however, made a good point (on another video) and I must have this written down before it happens...Pete has wanted a MITB holder to possibly run out of time to cash in because it's never been done before...so WHEN Dom wins MITB this year, he'll cash in by the end of the night so Priest runs out of time...book it!

Looking at the comments section of the previous WrestleTalk video this morning, you can tell that the overwhelming majority hugely disagree with Pete's thoughts regarding SD's first show of 2024. I like Pete but the dude can indeed be pretty cynical or overly-critical at times. SD New Year's Revolution was easily a 4 outta 5 caliber show with so much cool stuff that took place thru out the show.
Is Roman defending his Championship in a Fatal 4-Way Match at The Royal Rumble the right decision? Oh Hell Yeah it is! Roman defending against either AJ Styles, LA Knight or Randy Orton 1 on 1 is great but Roman defending against AJ Styles AND LA Knight AND Randy Orton in a Fatal 4-Way is infinitely better. This is a great match to make.
How is this good? It's the same Bloodline beat down angle we have seen for four years now. I'm tired of Roman beating everyone all the time.

When they announced the triple threat I knew there will be a fatal 4 way and I wanted it to be a fatal 4 way as well because Roman has not defended the title in multi-person matches since Edge-Bryan 3 years ago. So this will be something different to see.

Tbh, my only issue is the style of match he is talking about. It would have to be a ppv match or an AEW match. then they would have the time for a long match to make me believe all 3 men would be tired enough for the finish he is talking about.
Heyman could have said to Aldis that it doesn't matter who wins Roman can beat all of them in the match, Aldis says what a wonderful idea and books the 4 way from that. You would need a new main event but i'm sure they could throw together a SD main event.
I'll also say I don't agree with the 4 way being a change of pace for a Roman match, it'll more than likely still involve a bloodline run in and then the other 3 team up to fight them off and then turn on each other instantly
doing the pops for a announcement of a fatal 4 way on mic is cheap...doing the same thing off mic add to the intrigue...please pete learn a little bit about setting the tone of a match and having to tell roman reigns he done messed up , it adds to the drama...in fact go and watch movies once in a while and learn basic storytelling of how to add intrigue and drama to a story..besides the rumble is 3 weeks is a long way away..card subject to change and all that...

Really? After all that Pete's booking idea was worse than what they actually did. Roman Reigns has beef with all 3 men and a fatal 4 way is the only way to involve all 3 men. What would AJ and LA do at Rumble? It's not like they are going to win the Rumble itself
This might be a crazy idea but what they could do with the cody, rock, and roman situation is have a cody match with anyone on night 1 of wm and on the second night, have roman demolish rock in a a few mins. Rock leaves, roman cuts a promo saying this guy (rock) is washed and has proven i (roman) is the head of the table and trashes the crowd and every other superstar in the back saying he's levels above every one of them combined, and says he's had an early night and is about to leave. Cody comes out and says he's here to challenge roman and somehow (probs through a hhh call or a gm call) the match is on, and despite some shenanigans from the bloodline, cody ends the night as champ. Roman can take the rest of the year off until Summerslam with babyface tendencies but still heel, rematch with cody, roman loses, shakes Cody's hand, and have bloodline turn on him turning him fully face. What do y'all think?

Nah. They did the right thing. The end made sense for everyone involved,it protected all 3 men and gives us a great match at Royal Rumble. How can you complain about that?
I've been hoping we get a multi man match for a while now with roman in it. I'm personally really tired of the same old ref bump, visual pin, bloodline interference, Roman wins formula. I know when the time comes and they do all this and the babyface still wins it'll be awesome but untill then i'd like to see something else if there's no chance Roman loses. Maybe the other three can take out Solo and Jimmy but then fight among themselves and Roman still gets a sneaky win.
Reigns stacks and pins la knight,aj styles and randall all at once, stacked like cordwood. Hard cut to HHH, staring right down the barrel of the camera. "Get fucked, marks."
End of rumble
I might have just saved the AJ Styles return for New Year's Revolution. Orton vs. LA Knight in the #1 Contender's Match. We have the same finish as we did last night, except it ends in a DQ because it would've been a Single's Match. AJ Styles returns to brawl with the Bloodline alongside LA Knight and Orton. Nick Aldis comes out and announces that due to the match ending in DQ, Reigns will now need to defend the title at the Royal Rumble against Randy Orton, LA Knight.....and AJ Styles! Match is booked. Tension is immediately shown between the three contenders, and it all makes sense.
They spit nothing but FACTS for the next 3 mins starting at 41:00
