It’s kinda insane that none of these shows on this list (apart from NWA), I would consider “bad” or “the worst” at all. Yeah there have been some mediocre and mid shows, but apart from that there were no bad ppvs from WWE or AEW. Just overall a great year for wrestling
Well if you add the number of ppvs from aew and wwe it's only about 20 or a little more than that. It's not that many
@@bfh2792 20 is quite a few
Tbf the worst 5 PPVs are probably NWA ones. No AEW or WWE has been bad. Some average but yeah I agree none are bad
@@northleedspoppaso revolution, all in, all out, and wrestle dream don’t exist??
@@alt_ronnie disregard this guys opinion....not one AEW PPV was even Mid
@@northleedspoppa that's just factually wrong
@@alt_ronnieyou're not gonna change his opinion, let him have it.
TripleManía 31 Monterrey was bad
Its insane how three WWE PLE's this year have been made slightly worse because of the Jimmy Uso heel turn at Summerslam. That ending basically made the two previous events pointless, all just so they could turn Jimmy back into a lackey whos there to eat pins so Solo and Roman dont have to.
Jimmy wasn’t even at Payback lol stop trying to push an agenda
@@CarlStevenson21 "two previous" talking Crown Jewel, MITB, and including Summerslam where the turn happened. Learn to read.
Night of Champions* these Saudi Shows getting mixed in my head
@@drc9374 learn to understand storytelling. You live in a bubble.
@@CarlStevenson21What's the story being told then? If you wanna come at everyone with an attitude. Enlighten everyone with your wisdom.
Payback being on this is a total joke. Becky vs Trish was a legitimate match of the year contender. The lists this year have been pretty bad,
Becky Trish was fantastic, as well as the street fight, and I thought the main event was also great
"Sheamus vs Drew McIntyre"
"Usos vs Judgment Day"
Are y'all ok?
Also I thought Fastlane was the PPV with the Uso/Cody press conference?
@@Steadysphere it was.
My problem with SummerSlam as someone who was there was time. A main event kicking off after 11pm EST is fine when the local time is 8pm. That match started after 11pm local. We were friggen tired, man. I’m old
Cody didnt have a Match or a Press Conference on Payback also that PPV had Becky/Trish and JD/KO and Sami doesnt deserve to be #2 imo.
Facts that was a good show overall
I loved it! It was short and sweet, couple absolute bangers, nothing stood out as "bad" on that show to me.
@@northleedspoppaWhat the heck are you talking about? They have literally done nothing but Praise WWE all year and then say AEW has been lacking which they have….
@@northleedspoppa I see you haven't been paying attention at all to this channel for the last 16 months.
@@northleedspoppaIt has been alright…It has not been awful but it hasnt done anything major Ill say…It has been just Alright….And thats fine man…
To be honest, I didn't find any WWE or AEW PPV "bad" this year, like at all. Some were better than others, but I never felt like I wasted my time or money watching them. Overall I think both companies had a great streak of PPVs this year, especially WWE, which is a GREAT thing!
I don't watch much of other wrestling promotions promotions so I can't speak on that.
Facts, it was great year for wrestling this year
Yea this yr wasn't bad at all ppv wise. Both companies have done pretty well with their ppvs
Double or nothing was real fucking bad
I’d say the worst for each was probably SummerSlam and Worlds End. Both were just extremely mid
Something I’ve noticed with a bunch of the AEW entries that have made the “worst of” list proper this year has been the entries aren’t on their for it in an of itself, but rather circumstances surrounding them(e.g. All Out having a 1 week build, MJF vs Jay White having a poorly booked night long angle).
Also, I feel like considering the worst non-NWA PPV is “just fine”, Samhain should’ve been #1 by default solely because it might’ve nearly killed an entire company.
Bayley’s outfit alone was better than SummerSlam
The cody and jay tag was at fastlane not payback. Payback had the judgment day vs sami and kevin tag match
And it was a great street fight
Don’t retire the award just veto it and tell us about 5 NWA PPVs that none of us wanna bother watching
This just shows NOBODY watches the NWA. There is no way that a show that nearly killed the company isn't the worst of the year
I felt like this list was pointless this year. As mentioned none of these were particular bad, just weaker that the other show. The fact that everyone of these shows had at least one really good match tells you everything you need to know.
C'mon guys! Speaking as someone from Pittsburgh who went to the event, Payback wasn't THAT bad. We had fun!
I mean that's what they said, it was just fine. There really wasn't a bad show this year
For me, the worst show of the year is either Fastlane or Double or Nothing. The former was just fine and the latter had a good opener and fantastic double main event, but the middle was boring as get out
Apart from the NWA stuff there isn't a show that I would put on this list... We had a very good year for wrestling all across the board. Even the "B-shows" from WWE had good wrestling or were "mid" at their worst.
I think we need fact checker tempest to fact check himself and Luke on this one
Sheamus Vs Drew at SummerSlam?
Usos Vs judgment Day at payback?
😂😂
Also all out on this list
Huh
Might need to go back and check but did WWE payback 2020 get put on the worst list cause that also had a one week build
Maybe CM Punk getting fired the day before might have played into the decision making of some choosing all out for the worst list but thats just me assuming
Ok you guys were off on some points
Cody and jey did not win the titles on payback it was on fastlane
Payback was the ko and sami vs judgement day in a streetfight match which was the end of their tag run
But imo fastlane and payback were good aswell
The thing i can agree on is crown jewels was the worst wwe pvv of 2023 i didn't even watch the main event i know what roman matches are (even when the stipulation is no one is allowed to interfere it ends up having 2) man that summerslam main event sucked
So, the worst PPV's this year, besides all of NWA's PPV's, are basically WWE's fall lineup - post Summer Slam - and AEW ALL OUT (because of the build up). Worst doesn't mean bad. It just means the lowest rated.
For me, Summerslam is easily WWEs worst PPV. Almost if not every match disappointed, plus no Becky vs Trish and no tag title defense. The show had an amazing build so it sucks that the show disappointed so much
Dunno how else to fix the build if All In/All Out are a week apart other than just do better, but I think having some kind of bundle deal as well as perhaps a discount to order the other if one gets a ticket for one of the shows would go over great!
Personally I think SummerSlam 2023 was the only bad WWE Premium Live Event that year. Apart from that one, the rest were solid in their booking which makes me excited for 2024 if it continues with that level of quality.
The fatal 4 way at DoN was phenomenal. My favourite 4way match ever.
Agreed but it should have main evented.
I was AT Crown Jewel, and I had a good time, and I thought the matches were rather solid. What might be skewing my perception of the show's quality though is the fact that I had just gotten back into watching wrestling at around Summsrslam.
I didn't have the likes of Wrestlemania or the Royal Rumble to compare to in my head.
Really disagree about Payback. Steel Cage match Becky/Trish was awesome. The Steel City Street Fight is a potential top 20 match of the year. It was so dang fun.
Sami/KO vs Judgement Day in the street fight was amazing fun as well
The best way for Wrestletalk to get away with the worst show of the year is to say its the Saudi show, I’m not surprised
Well, looks like we need to add an extra entry around the top 3...
I’m sorry but Double or Nothing or Worlds End not being on here is criminal
"Contractual Obligations" Name of your next WWE PPV
Just get rid of all the 'worst' categories... there's no real need for any of them.
I find (and particularly this year) that AEW ppvs have a couple of outstanding matches but also absolutely dross matches on a very up and down card and WWE have fewer high point matches but far less crap ones so are a bit more consistent from start to finish.
To be honest, I'm surprised that All Out was on the main list as much as you are. If it's just because of the build - or lack there of one - then maybe I could see why slightly, but...still doesn't make sense. I'd have laughed though if the list had just been NWA shows.
13:28 that press conference happened after fastlane, not payback.
The “problem” this year is that there wasn’t a single BAD PPV from WWE or AEW this year, so they kinda have to stretch for this
There was someone who nominated all tyrus matches and all NWA shows?
Who could of done such a thing...
Whistles non chalantly
It says something that Summerslam was easily the worst WWE ppv but it was still pretty good
Yeah😁
13:34 the press conference was fastlane not payback
Cause it was Sami and KO v Damian and Finn not Cody and jey v Damian and finn
World Ends already made this list outdated lol
It's a good year for wrestling when a worst ppvs of the year list almost entirely consists of shows that are, at their worst, mid.
It really is a testament to how good this year was for PLEs and PPVs. None of these would have made the lists if they happened 2-5 years ago
Two comments right next to eachother, one using the word "AEWRESTLETALK" like a moron, the other saying the guys are just praising WWE. Keep up the amazing work Wrestletalk! You're the funnest bunch and the content is always a joy to watch
And Chaotic Neutral! Gotta remember all the channels if you're saying all the channels, Luke! Heck, throw Cut Scene and Pete Repeat in too!
Double or nothing and worlds end are worse than any WWE ppv in 2023 lol.
Might have done this list a little earlier given what was shown on the 30th
9:57 the sheamus drew mcintyre match undelivered like fr lol.
Wish someone made an executive decision and just said the worst show of the year was RawAfterMania. Yes it’s not a PPV or PLE, but my god it was awful.
I thought with Tempest as the Thumbnail, that I’d see some Sat on here as well.
Gonna be honest, I only watch WWE and I'd say summerslam is my least favorite by proxy of being most disappointing ESPECIALLY because that main event was years of buildup which was thrown down the toilet in a dragged out match with a terrible ending
AEW Full Gear was the worst PPV of 2023.
That's a wild statement to make when NWA exists
I actually really really like payback
Anything that has to slow Roman in it
So for me this is a tail of two promotions... I dont have a single worst PPV I have a worst PPV IMO for both WWE and AEW respectivley
AEW World's End: An okay show like the wrestling was good and the final angle with the Adam Cole devil reveal was cool and all, but I feel like I couldn't enjoy it because during my lunch break at work all I got were news alerts about Chris Jericho alleged scandal. As someone growing up in Canada and idolizing Chris Jericho, Edge, Christian and even Name Redacted (we all know who) I never wanna hear that one of my childhood heroes is potentially a suspect of something very bad and even though he was a face he was getting booed. The match was good but I was so distracted by the genuine disdain the crowd had for Jericho and I was kept thinking they should have just took the match of the card until they finish the investigation or until the air became more clear
WWE Crown Jewel: I mean it was a show where I didn't feel like I was gonna miss anything if I didn't watch it. Like the card was 95% predictable and the wrestling was fine I guess but It felt like there was no effort being put in... It was just a buffer for Survivor Series
11:47 rewatch the triple threat. That match was well bad. Charlotte's gear gets loose missed spots oh boy was it disappointing
On WWE ppvs, I usually quit watching at the start of Roman's 10minute entrance.
I don't think the audience, tempest, Pete, or Luke understand the small pool of ppvs that are being considered. The only ppvs being looked at are the 12 or so wwes, even less for aew, prob just Wk for njpw, and one or two nwa ppvs notorious for a moment like the coke spot which ruined their TV deal or a bad spot from tyrus bc he's a terrible champion. So that's 24 ppvs total or less. Choosing the 10 from that list doesn't necessarily mean it's bad. It's just the least good from a small list unless it's nwa then it's definitely bad
Nothing shows how people hate AEW for no reason more than All Out being on this list when it is in contention for their best show of the year
I say this as a diehard AEW fan having a PPV 1 week after the last PPV is just stupid and it could've been improved ten fold if it just had even 3 weeks of build. But no they literally had 5 hours of programming between the two. In no universe is that good
I don't undetstand the payback selection at all
I don't know how many people watch STARDOM but Halloween Dark Night belongs on this list. This PPV (not solely obviously) helped get the president fired a couple weeks later
8:33 couldn’t agree more with tempest there ! I think wwe realised after MITB that they need at least 1 international PLE a year
I'm so happy SummerSlam is in the top 3 for this list
Can we have a 2nd season of WORST Match Ever???
AEW all out being on the list btw is fucking wild lmao.
Why are there so many wrestling fans like tempest these days? If you don't like an aew ppv like all out your opinion is stupid. Or you just didn't like it, you didn't like the build so the matches feel hollow, or the backstage stuff surrounding it. It's OK to have other opinions
i agree with no 1
If nighht 1 and 2 count as 2 then all in and out too
i think you guys over hate roman and some of these ppvs
Honeslty i thought fastlane would be number 1. Payback was way better.
Aew Full Gear was the worst show
AEW Double or Nothing sucked weenie way more than Summerslam.
tempest face reveal?
Have y'all not heard fruitbat Dan?
Hello folks
Double or nothing > all out for me, all out felt like high quality filler great matches but the build and the follow up sucks
Horrible list. Payback and fastlane are both EXCELLENT shows. Summerslam is the only one on the top five that isn’t great.
First!
wrestletalk taking L’s with their wwe hate
Have you actually been listening to the podcast, in general they have been saying WWE was better than AEW week to week since around march or so
Protect Tempest at all cost
The RR is on this list 😮💨. What the actual fk?
All out? I would say thats a best show of the year contender
All Out was pretty good, unfortunately marred by the controversy, just like last year's. But by itself, it was a good show with a bunch of great matches!
Becky/Trish at Payback was awesome
I am sorry people need to adjust their meaning of the word "worst"
Its a title that helps with the algorithm. They have been doing it for years. This year didnt have many bad ppvs so the list was mostly mid.
They are aware. Unfortunately it’s something they have to do for UA-cam to work with them
It’s not like there were hundreds of PPV’s. Hardly any are actually bad so the title is pretty justified
"Worst" doesn't mean "bad", it is comparitive.
I can say strawberry ice cream is the worst of strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla. It doesn't mean stawberry is BAD, it just means others are BETTER in my opinion.
Technically there is a worst of everything, doesn't mean it's bad. Worst is a comparative term. Among the iPhone lineup this year the regular 15 is the worst, doesn't mean it's a bad phone tho.
I'm so glad we didn't have real bad PPVs. At worst, the worst ones were just....mid. One thing that really helps is that all of the PPVs weren't "gimmicky," which is the best way I could describe it.
All in(took place in England)
I think there was a clear stinker show of the year: WrestleMania Night 2. If you hadn’t considered it as one event with Night 1, it would’ve probably been the easy front runner for worst of the year.
Double Or Nothing and All Out don't belong in this list. They had some of the best matches of all time.
Royal rumble was a very mid show. Remove the rumble you have two bad matches and a mid reigns defense if it wasnt for the angle people wouldnt have liked the rumble
Summerslam was good just remove the Reigns Vs USO match. We can't just remove a match from a show and then call it bad. The rumble is why the show was good
@@lennythegumpsummers8889 that's fair but one average the rumble wasn't great. I'm talking the event there was more bad then good to me
No way was Crown Jewell the worst show of the year, the NWA shows with Tyrus are right there
I must be missing something, I genuinely think WWE had 1 good ppv this year and that was Backlash, the rest wasn’t good, that’s just me
Al fakidor
I personally thought All Out was better than All In
It's kind of funny how defensive ya'll got over #5
Sorry you guys are getting out of touch nobody cares anymore about your 5 star acrobatics aew anymore tempest
So this should just be WWE's worst PPVs.
What the hell are they on about?!
NWA are never going to win a "worst of..." Awards because no one watches him
How in the world did NWA not take number one for any of their? Fans literally voted for the mediocre pay-per-view as the worst? I guess it's because people just don't care about NWA the same way they care about aew or WWE which is fair. You can't be offended when you don't care.
AEW diehards are haters. As a WWE lifer who has been to a Nitro, I hate the division in the online wrestling community
Ain't no way Night of Champions made it. I'm with Tempest. Y'all are dumb 😂😂😂😂
You really didn’t watch SummerSlam or after 😂 Sheamus vs Drew never happened, it was Drew vs Gunther and Sheamus was in the Battle Royal. The Usos broke up at SummerSlam, Jey moved to Raw at Payback while the Judgement Day won the tag belts from Kevin and Sami in a street fight. Cody and Jey won the tag belts at Fastlane which is when they had the hilarious press conference, only to lose them a week later. Y'all really gotta research before hand, and on a side note, Payback was the best show of the year and Shin vs Seth was epic but Shin should have won.
What are you talking about that? Thats what they said. They didn't get anything wrong
@@TheGamerRist you must have hearing problems then 😂😂 they got plenty wrong.
@@adamburke4738 Nope. They said it was Drew vs Gunther and the Usos broke up at SS. Idk what game your playing but its not a good one
@@TheGamerRist not what they said at all 😂😂 and I’m not the only one saying it 😂😂
@@adamburke4738 I only see you saying it. But okay I re-watched it. He says Sheamus but come on dude. It was clearly a simple mistake. A slip of the tongue. We've all done it. He meant Gunther. Its really not a big deal. You say all that like they don't know but they do
Luke really wants to be American, it's embarrassing.
