Sirron Bailey thank you for your kind words. I just love the sport so much and want to spread the enjoyment. Where do you fish? Also note that UA-cam doesn’t notify me on comments anymore and I just happened Ed across your comment. Tim
@@skunkedagain I live in Texarkana Texas. Just move there and trying to learn Lake Forks and a couple other areas. This weekend I'm in South Carolina at a fishing class at Lake Hartwell. Maybe we can get together sometime where are you located?
Sirron Bailey Fork has a lot of big bass and Crappie. I”m in Austin. Anytime you’re near, let me know. If there’s an empty seat, you can be on the list!
great video on brush piles and finding crappie! I enjoyed it very much. You must have had all your settings right cause I could see the lure or minnow really good and the strike and the fish slowly being pulled up. Good technique!!!
Awesome vid! Now, with the livescope, you should change your name to skunked no more! :) Can you tell the difference between crappies and small school of shads, do they look the same in LVS?
Thanks! I've had my share of skunk days, which only make days like this that much more enjoyable. The more you use LVS, the more you'll be able to differentiate between bait and crappie. Baitfish will show up in balls and move rather quickly. Whereas Crappie will be indivivual fish movement. Time on the water will help you. Are you getting a LVS system? Tim
@@skunkedagain Yes, I just got mine. I have it hooked up to my float tube. I don't have a boat or kayak. I tried it last week and I loved it! But I was seeing so many shads that it was hard to tell which was which; they all look so similar in size. Eventually, I start noticing the fish behavioral differences. Like you said, the shad seems to travel in balls in one direction, the crappies are more individual in their group.
Darryll, I figured you'd be interested in Decker Crappy. I have only seen a few reports of Decker Crappie. Now I know there are plenty there. We're going to find the Hybrids next.... at least we'll try. Tim
Dennis, you'll love it. We went after work today (yes in the 30mph wind), still caught around 40-45 crappie. We were limited to the north banks to shield from the wind. Good luck with the new toy. Tim
Thanks. I wish I could record directly from the unit instead of putting a camera in front of it. But good enough to show the Crappie swarming, thanks, Tim
The more I watch this the more I want one lol. Its just really unbelievable what they have come up with! Does the package come with monitor and transducer?Where ya slaying them tomorrow Tim?
Austin Bassin' no fishing on Easter. But hot Decker with a friend and his daughter and did well on those brushes. Never knew there was so many crappie there.
Hi SK, Thanks. Yes, I have SI on both the Lowrance and Garmin units. I sometiems use those to find brush piles too. I find the LVS looks ahead, and if I miss it, SI will catch it behind me. Then, my lazy arse have to turn around..... Tim
Love your videos. I have the same LVS system but my screen is not as clear as yours, at one point i could see your line!! Its hard to find my lure a lot of times. Can you share your settings please. Thanks
Pretty standard settings. I just amp up the gain until I can see my lure. It helps to have your transducer on a rotating rod so you can pan it around until you see your lure. Also zoom in the distance (25' and maximize your depth) so the screen is full. send a pic I'll help. Tim
Mark, that is probably it. I find that even on the same lake, it's different day to day on the adjustments. I have my screen drop-down as "gain" so I can hit one button and adjust it on the fly. Tim
If you don’t mind, can you give some info on that customized handlebar on your motor guide trolling motor? I have the exact same one and would like to do something similar. Thanks.
Love the video. I am looking to buy one of these. Where should I mount it. Front of boat on a pole or trolling motor. What kind of pole. Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks Langston. It's mounted near the console for searching, and I move it to another mount for fishing since it's closer to the anchor point (less movement that way). I have a video on the DIY mount; ua-cam.com/video/1c4P1rBKr7g/v-deo.html
skunked again so many questions. So I use a trolling motor anchor point also, but still get quite a lot of movement in the boat Swinging around the gps anchor point. How does that affect you LS. I suppose your head unit is always mounted at the console and all u move around is the transducer?
Langston: That's correct. I move the transducer closer to the trolling motor to reduce the swing of the boat. Then I rotate the transducer to re-align to the brushpile as the boat moves around a little. Where is yours mounted? Tim
skunked again my current helix transducer is on the back of the boat. I was considering putting the garmin head unit on the console and moving the helix to the bow. And had thought to put the LS transducer on the trolling motor. But I don’t like that as the trolling motor is always moving around when the boat is on spot lock. So after seeing your vid and talking to you, I think I will keep the helix and garmin head units at the console. Leave the helix transducer on the back, put the general garmin transducer on the back also, and try to rig up a pole like you did to move the LS transducer from mid boat to front when fishing.
skunked again I don’t have a rail, so will have to come up with a way to attach to the boat. When I do, I will send the solution to you so you can post. We fish lake Conroe in Texas. If you are ever up this way, look me up on Facebook.
Hi, You have to calibrate the compass to get that icon. From what I can tell, it's fairly accurate and more steady than my Lowrance compass. It enables you to selesct waypoints far out in the LVS view and it be accurate. Do you have a LVS? Tim
@@skunkedagain Thanks for the reply. I have mines mounted on the trolling motor and running the echomap 93sv plus. The compass section on livescope or the unit? Lol sorry new to Garmin
I just have it hooked up to by battery through a Perko switch that I switch off when off the water. If you're asking about between spot moves on the water, I don't turn it off. Tim
Great video... Just got my Livescope and can't get as clear of a pic as you are getting... Are you using auto low, mid or high setting on your gain?? Thanks
I actually adjust my gain for the water conditions. Sometimes it's crystal clear, other times, I have to amp it up to 70% to be able to see my lure. It's probably the clarity of the water and floating debris. Good luck Tim
Hi, I use the Motorguide Xi5 on GPS anchor mode.
