Oh boy do I remember curly pipes from my time in Tenerife! John, it was like re-living the torment and exhaustion of pipe laying all over again, they kink, they recoil and they are so exhaustingly heavy . One of my grreatest memories is of the local people, their willingness to lend a hand and their calm and methodical approach to tasks. They are resourceful and able to problem solve whilst appearing not in the least bit stressed or ruffled, we have a lot to learn from these amazing folk.

Oh my goodness that was a massive water pipe what a job. Hats off to Mario well done what a good neighbour and friend. Cruso is in a world of his own with that sand pit. Watching him play with all the land you have it would be great to have a number of different play area not necessary big play areas just things to do in different sections. Spread the options out. Sand pit in one area and some kind of rope bridge in another area that way he can play where every you guys are on the land at that time.

Good afternoon you all weather busy guys!!! You could actually stone or cement build the trench diverting the water and leave pipe holes at the bottom, wherever you need to join a flat hose which will carry the water wherever it's needed! That's what they used to do in villages, here in Greece...pipes are ugly and get clogged. It-ll take a bit more work, but it will look really beautiful!💞
Bramble bushes make wonderful hedges and provide you with their berries which aren't only tasty but also a medicine for good health!.Hedges are easy to keep in order, as brambles tend to spread if left unattended! Have a nice week to come!!!💞
Oh! And you could use the two Γ shaped poles, over the sandpit , as a shade, until the little ones are big enough to use them as football terminal or for basketball !!! See how you inspire people!!! Thank you for feeding my inspiration!!!

Hey guys, doesn’t it feel great to be gardening with the sun on your back again 😊 take a look at Cindy Vine in Portugal as she is a lovely lady who is living off grid and has lots of Kune Kune pigs that are always testing her, plus some are about to give birth so she will have lots of piglets too 😂 she is not too far away from us in Fundao and we have become friends too ❤ I bet Crusoe thought the digger was going to make more puddles for him too 😀

We also found since we have lived in Portugal for 7.5 years now how helpful and kind the Portuguese are nothing is too much trouble...little Crusoes face was a picture bless him...its been quite hot down here in the Alentejo but cold in the evenings 😀

Just for advice, whenever you are laying either pipework, or laying large Electrical cables, it is easier to just get a few coils of the item and just roll them out into the trough you have dug, you then repeat this sequence until all the pipe / cable is laid, there is no weight, and they then just lay flat

What is Sawyer´s hair color?
That water could be incorporated into a future shallow pond- idealy a distance from lawn mowers that chop up frogs, toads, salamanders, etc.
There is a group of plants that could be useful for your interest in attracting wildlfe- hollies with berries. Too hot and dry here, but you even have acidic soil and more rain.
To help the lawn be less mucky, you could regularly add sand or super-fine gravel shallowly, so as not to smother the lawn.
Looking at that water on your lawn the thing that comes to mind is that you have a free swale- many fadddish people spend a fortune on them

Hello Tara and John, if I were you I would use a metal detector on your property. Especially when you make holes like that. Portugal in general is already a Museum, and there is still so much buried stuff to discover, especially when you imagine who lived there or passed through there, a few hundred years ago. Huge smile with Crusoe's excitement - it was like he was seeing Santa Claus! We rented an excavator to put in drainage & it was so worth it. And we bought a compact tractor (Massey Ferguson) which has been enormously helpful in so many ways. Definitely grateful for machines that make life easier! Thanks for sharing Crusoe with us all 🙂

i noticed in some videos how sad you feel while raining, i like rainy days, as much as i like the sunny ones, in fact i appreciate the different compass that each of the 4 seasons offer us. only with rainy days we have a special shine and reflection of everything that is around us, and then there is that sound, clouds sound reaching us.

I have been watching a young channel named, Hidden Spring Farms.... it is a couple who live in Coldwater, Canada and they are renovating a 90 Acre farm with a 100 year old house ... or nearly bult in 1928?.. I don't remember ... but he has built many building... a garden to die for, etc. You will love it ... He has a new video each Monday and Thursday... I have caught up on his channel and went in search, and found you guys...

I'm late..I like the Swiss Family tree house idea..And, maybe add a child size old Galleon ship with a slide coming off, two swings hanging under the front and other fun stuff. Our grandson who lives in Ohio, loves diggers too. They had a real digger come to do some work at their home. The little boy couldn’t get enough of watching the men work. He wanted to join them so bad.

If you mix diatomaceous earth in with the sand, it'll keep biting critters that like to get into play sand at bay while being safe for Crusoe. Also watch out for poop in the sand if you have cats and foxes about, if you are leaving it uncovered at night!

Now about Crusoe who was so excited with the coming of the digger, his cheeks red from the cold that did not seem to bother him, reminded me of my younger sister at my grandparents'farm, near Mesão Frio, when we went there for Christmas, some 60 years ago, enjoying the time outdoors, her cheeks very red too, while I and my older sister,remained indoors. She is 16 years younger than me and 18 younger than my other sister. We lived in Lisbon and resented the cold but that was not the case with her.
This farm still exists. It produces grapes to make into Port wine. But nobody lives there anymore. It is managed by a cousin of mine who lives in Porto. We are all city people but I miss the glorious September months that we used to spend there. I have the memories and 8mm films that my father made and which I have been converting into DVD.
