Excited to incorporate more plant based meals into our diet!

@@flourishingmiranda Yes!! This service is available all over the US and most of Canada. At least this is what they tell us volunteers! Thank you for being so helpful.
My granny just made a vegan cheese sauce. She added cashews. Was so yummy I neednto try this one. I am new to trying vegan dishes. I'm excited for this new adventure of trying to be more healthy.
I love the idea of having cheese sauce on hand in the freezer. You’re recipe looks so tasty and simple, I can’t wait to try it. Also happy to see you saving jars to reduce waste ☺️
We heat tortillas on a comal (or a cast iron pan works too) since we don't have a gas stove. :) Still delicious! Thank you for sharing all of these recipes! I have been binge watching since yesterday. Our grocery prices are going up so I'm looking for ways to cut back but not cut out taste. Can't wait to try some of these!

Knowing that you’re a full time nanny of I think you said sometimes 14 hour days, I don’t know how you find the time to consistently film & edit videos. Lots of credit to you.
A few years ago I tried a potato & carrot cheese sauce from another you tuber, but it just didn’t come out good. It didn’t have a cheese essence and just seemed like potato. Could of been chef error, lol!! Anyway, your sauce looks so good and I will be trying to make it this week.
Make your grits even more delicious by sautéing peppers/onions/mushrooms and seasoning with smoked paprika and garlic salt, then put that on top of your cheesy grits. So good and filling!!! Smokey grits!
I love this sauce. Whenever I make this I can’t resist putting a pot of water on the stove to make pasta for Mac and cheese. Sometimes I get all fancy and bake the Mac and cheese in the oven with a seasoned up panko bread crumb crust. 😋
I enjoy your videos. I have one cost-saving suggestion for when shoppers can afford to get something in bulk and that is yeast for bread. Yeast can be bought in a 'brick' and if you store it in the freezer, it lasts for years. I keep a small amount in a dark jar (actually a 4 oz yeast jar from years ago, when I thought THAT was the cheapest way to buy yeast) and the rest of the yeast safe in the freezer. One could also split the amount of yeast with a friend. It costs a fraction! of the packet used per loaf. Another way to save on yeast is to find a recipe that has one of those super long rise times, and uses just 1/4 tsp or so. From a new subscriber :) PS in Canada Amazon is selling it at 3x's the price so beware.
Yes thank you so much Nancy!! They had it in stock the day I picked up groceries and I saw it was like $3 for almost 300 servings of yeast!! Which cost wise is insane! We haven't had it in stock that I noticed in a long time but I am going to move towards getting it in the large bag because I use so much!
Looks great. I love how simple everything is. I probably would have switched out something to get a bag of dried beans or lentils to up the protein a bit. I think red lentils would have been great in the tomato soup.
I’m so glad your husband will eat this way…..I’m not so sure mine will. He doesn’t complain on things I cook but I do know what foods he won’t and most are ones that I would eat now that I’m going WFPB. I’m going to try making some things and see if I can’t get him to go meatless a few days a week.
Ooh love Nooch! During the fall I like to use canned pumpkin in place of the carrots for cheeze sauce. And another way to make cheap fast cheeze sauce is using potato flakes in the box instead of boiling up potatoes.

I think you are wonderful! Love your simple meals and your humility and realness! I'm a social worker and work to get people experiencing homelessness into housing. They have nothing when they go in. We try to get them a few items for cooking...pots, dishes, etc. I'm thinking of putting together a collection of these kinds of recipes for those who want it. I'm also inspired to stop spending so much money on food! I may take part of my savings and put together some seasonings to give out. Anyway, I thank you for being who you are and taking time to do this!
That’s amazing!! I try to give back a lot to my own community because we have a very large homeless community here in Las Vegas. I recently learned we have a donation fridge system in certain areas that you can take food, drop it into the fridge on certain days and people can come 24/7 and get what they need! I’ve loved this idea so much I drop off almost weekly because while food pantries are wonderful sometimes people need FRESH items too! You continue to be an inspiration. We have finally reached our goal of living in our tiny house, eliminating debt and working for ourselves. It’s ideas like yours that make this possible. Thank you 🙏
I’m moving to university in the spring I was able to save a couple thousand dollars for food and necessities for the semester. Going to try and stretch my money as well as get a part time job
Been loving all the budget grocery hauls. Nice to know a planted based diet doesn’t have to cost so much and be simple recipes. Thank you for all these videos.
My husband isn't picky-- which I am very grateful for! We also have the other flip side to him eating this way and that's that we can pay off debt faster by bother crunching!
This came at such a great time for me, I had to take my little girl out of school because her health was complicated and had to quit my job to take care of her. So every penny counts now and your channel is helping me so much!
You're very welcome! I also hope you contact the resources in your area for help! Don't struggle through because there are places designed to take care of your needs!
It’s so great to see you and your husband working together to get out of debt! I love your videos on budgeting for meals it teaches me how to handle the money I have but also how many meals you can have with so little! Thanks for sharing ❤️
How much liquid smoke? And if you add liquid smoke, do you still use nutritional yeast? I want to make it right now, and don’t have any nutritional yeast, but I do have liquid smoke. Do you add liquid smoke to instant pot? Or in blender?
I love that you show just how inexpensive it is to eat healthfully, and all your recipes look delish! Thanks for the great content! And I also love reusing jars/containers
I am working on saving more this year. My husband and I budget $40 a week each for eating out lunch during the week. I would like to meal prep and start taking my lunch daily to put my $40 towards savings. This past week I took munch to work all week. I’m not plant based but would like to add more plant based meals to my diet. Thanks for sharing. 🤗
You are so good at this low budget thing! I am definitely a fan of these vids (it's so hard to come up with new stuff to eat when trying to stick to a small budget). I have big financial goals this year and am really loving the motivation you're giving me (groceries can be where I struggle because I don't spend anywhere else!)
If you sauté a Mirapois (sp?) to start and use crushed tomatoes instead of tomato sauce, blend with immersion blender when done, you’ll be shocked at the difference!
Omg I absolutely love this this week of recipes with the vegan cheese sauce because i loooove that sauce. This is very helpful because i need to meal plan as a busy mom. Thanks for sharing the grits recipe!!! Im a savory girl and people always show sweet breakfast and never savory ones , what a great idea ! I can eat that every breakfast!
Thanks for the simple meal ideas. I am a 60 yr. old single mom with my last 2 of my 7 children still at home. I am taking the challenge this month. Tonight we had planned Cheezy Broccoli and Rice. Perfect timing. ♥️ U!
Finally someone using grits! All of the videos are using oatmeal. Grits are delicious and so cheap. Back in my broke days, my kids had grits every morning.
@@flourishingmiranda I've been using them for years now since I avoid plastic due to health concerns. I have only had the jar break twice. Once was when my son put soup in a jar and didn't leave the headspace. And once was recently when I used a thinner jar and tried to microwave it straight from the freezer. Now I am careful to either use thicker jars like canning jars or to only nuke for a few seconds to get the food out of the jar to put in a pan. Otherwise I just take the jar from the freezer and put in the fridge for a while.
So happy to have found your videos! My NY's resolution is financial freedom, I also started eating a wfpbno diet in June 2020, so you have combined two of my priorities into one channel! My grocery bills have significantly increased during the pandemic, so it is encouraging to finds tips on reducing and simplifying meal prep. Thanks!
Thank you for all the meal ideas. I'm doing a no spend month (basics and bills only) in January. Your channel along with a few others will keep me full and on track as I'm giving myself $40 food budget and cleaning out the pantry/freezer.
I make a lot of similar meals for my family. I make sourdough bread and my cheese sauce has sunflower seeds in it which are a little bit cheaper than cashews but I still spend 2 hundred plus a week on groceries. Thanks for the simplistic inspiration. We are doing a no spend challenge this month so these help.
I'm excited to make this cheeze sauce. I have one I like but it uses soy milk and while I don't mind using soymilk per se, I feel like it's more expensive and doesn't have the filling nature of one that has potatoes. Plus-- Yukon Gold potatoes are amazing! Also, I wanted to say-- I've used this bread recipe for some time now and it really is great. I see you buy the yeast in the packets but if you can find the glass jar, it's much cheaper, lasts for a long time, and because the bread uses such a low amount the jar will last a long long time. Thank you the pizza dough idea with that bread...gonna make that!
I need to switch over to buying my yeast in bulk! I was just telling someone in another comment the large bags and even the jars are now back in stock so I'm going to buy those from now on!!
Grits are an awesome breakfast! We usually just sprinkle the nutritional yeast over the top but we will try it with cheese sauce this week. Thanks for the great video
Thank you so much for continuing to do these types of videos - it is allowing me to see I can try some other things. Also, i need to control my food budget - so thank you for all the examples!!!!

You continue to be an inspiration. We have finally reached our goal of living in our tiny house, eliminating debt and working for ourselves. It’s ideas like yours that make this possible. Thank you 🙏
Thank you!!! ❤️
Love all these great meals! It's great when there are leftovers so dinner for one night and lunch for the next!
Agreed!! Less time in the kitchen on busy days!!
I am new to the vegan lifestyle and so your videos are helping me learn. Thank you.
I’m moving to university in the spring I was able to save a couple thousand dollars for food and necessities for the semester. Going to try and stretch my money as well as get a part time job
Hopefully you can take away from good ideas from me!! Eating doesn't have to cost a lot and it can also taste good!
Been loving all the budget grocery hauls. Nice to know a planted based diet doesn’t have to cost so much and be simple recipes. Thank you for all these videos.
Glad you like them!
I wish my husband would eat like yours.
@@flourishingmiranda thank you♥️
I add Rotel to my cheeze sauce. Delicious!
Great idea!
It’s so great to see you and your husband working together to get out of debt! I love your videos on budgeting for meals it teaches me how to handle the money I have but also how many meals you can have with so little! Thanks for sharing ❤️
You’re welcome!
I’m lactose free if you add liquid smoke to the cheese sauce it LITERALLY taste like cheese!
Oh interesting! I bet my husband would like that! I’m not a smoke fan but thank you for the tip I bet many others would love this too!
You are so welcome!
I’ve been vegan 5 years and have never tried a potato carrot cheese sauce. I need to do it!
You should! Its really good!!
@Aubrey Freeman, same here! I thought I was the only one!😂
I love how authentic you are in making your recipes thanks!
Thank you!
Yum, I’m going to try that recipe for the cheese sauce.
It’s so good!!!
Wow! What a simple recipe! Others can be so time consuming with a lot of ingredients. Thank you for sharing this!
Love this video! Can’t wait to try this simple cheese sauce
Hope you like it!
You're welcome! I hope some of these meals ideas are helpful for you! Way to go setting a food budget!! That'll get you to your savings goal so fast!!
I'm so glad I can be of help to you!! I find that because I'm sharing so much of my meals it pushes me to be more creative!!
I am loving this budget friendly wfpb series! Thanks!
Glad you enjoy it!
I am so impressed that you are showing us how obtain good health through WFPB lifestyle and that it does NOT have to be cost prohibitive!!!
Thank you!!
Never seen this type of cheese sauce made. I m a fan! Ty for sharing it!
Can’t wait to try making this sauce omg! I lived LCHF for years, and I’m just starting my plant based journey, your channel is SO helpful 🙏🏼😊
Welcome to HCLF!
If you sauté a Mirapois (sp?) to start and use crushed tomatoes instead of tomato sauce, blend with immersion blender when done, you’ll be shocked at the difference!
You are well-disciplined young lady 😊.
I will go into a store planning to buy up to five things but end up with a basket full.
Thanks for the video.
Wonderful! I'm so glad you gathered some new ideas from me!
Seriously gurl how is it that you don’t have thousands more subscribers? Your videos are so informative, helpful & delicious 😋 ty 🙏🏻🥰
Thank you so much!! You're so kind!
@@flourishingmiranda #justtellingthetruth😃
You made my day!❤️
@@traceyzvirblis4909 I totally agree! She's gonna blow up in 2021!
Finally someone using grits! All of the videos are using oatmeal. Grits are delicious and so cheap. Back in my broke days, my kids had grits every morning.
Grits are truly the most wonderful inexpensive breakfast that are just as hardly as oats but are really a great alternate!!
You can use those jars to freeze in as long as the food has cooled and you leave an inch or two of space at the top of the jar to allow for expansion.
no way!! I had no idea you could freeze things in glass!!
This is so good to know I don’t ever put my jars in the microwave I’m scared they’ll crack!
I love this video. I could put cheese on top of everything, too. I have a bag of nutritional yeast. Now I have another use for it. Thank you.
How generous of you to gift a bag to someone. Happy New Year and God Bless.
Happy new year!
I just came across your videos. I love how your meals look delicious and are not too complicated
Thank you!
Thanks!
I'm so excited for you! Our journeys are really similar!
Thank you for all the meal ideas. I'm doing a no spend month (basics and bills only) in January. Your channel along with a few others will keep me full and on track as I'm giving myself $40 food budget and cleaning out the pantry/freezer.
You can do it!
I’ve seen several people make the cheese sauce but you make it super easy. I look forward to trying to make this.
It’s very easy!!
Good luck on your no spend month!! I'm glad I could add some ideas for you for meals this month!
Your recipes always look so delicious and I absolutely love the simplicity of your food! I’m so happy I stumbled upon your channel!
Thank you so much 😊
Grits are an awesome breakfast! We usually just sprinkle the nutritional yeast over the top but we will try it with cheese sauce this week. Thanks for the great video
You're welcome!
I have made the cheese sauce many times and also your bread recipe. My husband and I love both recipes.
Thank you so much for continuing to do these types of videos - it is allowing me to see I can try some other things. Also, i need to control my food budget - so thank you for all the examples!!!!
You are so welcome!
I love how cheerful you are about frugality, thank you for the awesome videos!
Thank you!!
Great easy recipes😊. Thank u. I also boil quarter cup of nuts with the carrots and potatoes.
Mary’s test kitchen has an amazing tortilla recipe that I think you would love! Super easy and cheap of course!
I love seeing this simple and cheap recipes. Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you!
I have been loving these videos. They have been very helpful with figuring out budget meals. Trying to stretch my money as much as I can cause of covid and shoulder injury I have ended up being a unemployed single mom. Thank goodness for the stimulus check
I'm so glad I could help you with some meal ideas!! 2020 has been really hard on everyone and I think we can all gather inspiration from each other to keep pushing!
I love the cheeze sauce in Twice Baked Potatoes. It's also delicious on Oh She Glows Savoury Oatmeal.
I'll have to try that recipe!!
The cheese sauce looks amazing! The nachos too! All of it! So excited to start our journey eating plant based! I'm going to try all of these! I always love to save money with groceries. I love watching your channel. Thanks for being real Miranda. :)
Thank you so much!! I thought it would be fun to share more "healthy" junk food because it's still fun to eat pizza and nachos!!
OMG I would have never thought of using potatoes and carrots as a cheese sauce base. That looks soooo yummy!
It's so good!
I recently found your videos and really like them. I'm not vegan, but interested in cooking a lot more plant based. You have great ideas and are saving so much money!
Thank you so much! You don't have to be vegan to enjoy a few plant based meals!!
I turned my phone upside down to see that art behind you that’s super cool!
Thank you for this cheese sauce receipe !!!! I love the fact ingredients are usually in my pantry except nutrient yeast. God bless you from grandma Katie in Oregon
You are so welcome!
I am amazed and fascinated with your creativity making plant based foods affordable and delicious. I could definitely eat this way and will try incorporating some of your recipes to our week. I have never ever made bread as I find it intimidating but this one you make I think I can do. I would love to try the cheese sauce...need to get some of the nutritional yeast. Thank you for your inspiration ❤️
I feel like I was meant to do vegan budget videos LOL! The amount of ideas I have is insane I write them all in a notebook but you all keep me pushing to be more and more creative!!
@@flourishingmiranda may I ask..have you always been a vegan?
No, I went vegan in February 2020!
