Have you tried B+L’s Lumify eye drops for redness relief? How was your experience compared to “traditional” redness relief eye drops (visine, clear eyes, rhoto)? Share your feedback in the comments below!
Why do you think there's been such a slow uptake on briminodine tartrate to treat red eyes? As far as I'm aware, B&L are the only company offering a drop, which is great, but I find the preservatives too harsh for regular use. I really hope that somebody comes up with a preservative free briminodine tartrate drop to treat eye redness
B+L made the effort to get it FDA approved. It was only released last year so I'm sure similar products will follow. Also, I'm sure there will be a preservative free version that eventually comes out!
Thank you doctor for the information. I think bright white eyes make you look healthy, so I’m going to purchase them. As long as they’re safe, I’ll try them!
Will not last forever. I've been using prescription strength brimonidine tartrate (Alphagan P) for glaucoma for over two years and I can personally tell you that there will come a point in time that the drops will no longer whiten your eyes! It will also give you dry eyes, but then again my guess is that vanity will win out over common sense. I use this stuff because I have to.
Thank you for your feedback. Alphagan P is a significantly higher concentration of brimonidine tartrate. As a result, using it longterm could lead to a decrease in effectiveness. From my understanding, since Lumify is at a much lower concentration and is only indicated for
My eyes are always red! (Chronic Dry Eye), I tried Systane, over priced and did nothing. Rhoto works but only for a few hours, and Ive used B+L Opcon-A, which were amazing but I can no longer find!!!!! So my eye doctor recommended Lumify eye drops. Ive been using them for 2 days now, and to be completely honest, they work for 3-4 hours and then my eyes are back to red. So for me, ill stick to Rhoto, MUCH MUCH cheaper with the same results....
Thank you for your feedback. This is interesting. My guess is that your eyes are still inflamed from the underlying dry eye disease. Unfortunately, Lumify is not indicated for redness relief from chronic dry eye disease. Hopefully you're able to get things under control with a proper treatment plan from your eye doctor!
Doctor, I used lumify 5 hours and 10 minutes after my last application. I know it says you can re apply every 6-8 hours. Is that an issue using it 50 minutes early?
I’ve heard that the BAK preservative that is used in these drops is not good for your eyes and can actually cause damage and toxicity. In addition - it’s been studied that BAK can cause increased dryness. What are your thoughts on BAK preservative?
Some people are sensitive to the preservative BAK. As a result, if you are sensitive to this preservative OR use Lumify more than directed, it can lead to irritation and toxicity. For the vast majority of people looking to use this drop, the BAK preservative is of little concern, especially if the drops are used as directed.
Does it really last upto 8hrs? I want to use it occasionally for good photo, i get red eyes when im in an air condition room with or without contacts i use colored contacts for special occasion and its not good to se having those red eyes regular naphazoline hcl works for me but it does not last long enough till end of the day atleast it'll last for 3-4hrs and lesser specially on dry places
These are the best redness relief eye drops on the market. Period. They are kind of expensive but are worth every penny. All cannabis users should carry Lumify. You'll thank me later.
That shouldn’t be a problem. Keep in mind that there are much better dry eye drops on the market that you should explore (Systane, Refresh, Blink, etc.)
This is a question you'll want to double check with your surgeon or co-managing eye doctor, however, assuming your eye is healed and you're not suffering from dry eye disease, it should not be a problem to use Lumify 2 months after LASIK.
Yes, you can purchase Lumify over the counter. It does not cure a conjunctival hemorrhage, as that is a condition that has to resolve on its own over time.
Hi doc what about pterygium redness before ready for surgery? Would traditional redness relieves be better since the vascularity is not primarily venous? Thanks!
@@RyanReviewsOptometry thanks. Very long time from surgery. Just looking at physiology of a pterygium it is much more vascular than many other types of redness with supply on both arterial and venous side. It would be fascinating to see if anyone has done a study for pterygium on whether brimidone is helpful compared to regular vasoconstrictors. Thanks anyways.
I do not know of any studies on this. You should be fine using Lumify until you have a surgical consultation. Regardless, worth getting a personalized consultation with an eye care professional before doing so.
No, temporary. It's still the best redness relief eye drop on the market and is effective for up to 8 hours (possibly more). This will vary from person to person.
Let me know when they come out with drops that fix redness permanently and not a measly 8 hours. You'll be spending hundreds a month on these small bottles if you want to have whiter eyes everyday.
Eyes that are permanently red most likely have a larger underlying problem. Schedule an appointment with your local optometrist or ophthalmologist for a full assessment.
These work really good, but seriously over priced. The small bottle is between $11 and $15 ..and It's only half full .. maybe 12 drops... that's around a dollar per drop.
Since they have a new and different mechanism of action compared to traditional redness relief eye drops, Bausch + Lomb must have felt they warrant a higher price. If used as indicated (sparingly and
Dry eye disease and redness is from yeast in the eyes. I know that bc I got that a few years ago from trying on store-tester mascara and the doctors told me I had that, but I cleared it on my own by taking Candex and flushing my eyes with Cellfood and Colloidal silver. I am genius tho... Getting these eye drops bc they seem great.
Dang, that’s gross but good to know. I think that might be my issue. My eye doc said I had mild dry eye in the left eye but didn’t mention the cause or remedy.
Thanks 🙏 for sharing I just actually heard about it andI want to try it I’ve heard a lot of good stuff about it and my eyes don’t really get red they’re just really dry because of the winter time and they do are they do get irritated because of the dryness and they’re not as bright as white as I would like them to be so thank you for sharing this I’m going to go pick up some tomorrow thank God I got this coupon book at wall greens or else I would’ve never even of known about Luma phi because I have a coupon for a bottle so I’m excited to try it thank you
Actually I just noticed now that you said something about like almost looking spider veins in your eyes I do have those in my eyes red veiny looking things in my eyeballs so I guess this stuff would be really good for my eyes I’m really excited to try it I was just in wall greens to and I never even heard about it till now that’s OK I want to get some tomorrow
Kind of a late comment but this video just popped up in my recommendations. I was a daily user of clear eyes cooling comfort redness reliever drops for a long time. I didnt know about rebound redness and how redness reliever drops can make it worse. It was so bad i could barely open my eyes in the morning they were so dry and red and burning. I would have to put in like 10 drops per eye just for any kind of relief. So i did a little research and found out about these. I have been using them for a little bit now along with systane to help with dry eye and while they do absolutely work better and i dont need to use as much or often i still suffer from pretty bad rebound redness. It's not as intense as with clear eyes but its still a noticeable problem. So my question is, is there anyway to reverse rebound redness? If i just stop using drops all together will my eyes eventually go back to "normal"? if you will. I'm actually a little scared i might have done some permanent damage to my eyes from using drops for so long. Any advice?
Honestly, it all depends on why your eyes are red. In your situation, I recommend visiting an eye doctor before using Lumify. That way they can rule out causes other than general redness.
I bought them today and used them. Jesus, they made my heart beat VERY fast and I could taste them instantly. In all seriousness I felt as if I'd done a line of cocaine without the euphoria. Then they made me seriously sleepy. I had to take a nap and after waking up my eyes are terribly blurry. I wear gas permeable lenses and wasn't even able to put them back in. Yikes!

Shela Matela no problem. I’m not a doctor so I could not answer that question, but this eye drop does not heal anything it just removes redness and makes eyes whiter You should go see an eye doctor

I can use this drops and then systane lubricant drops? Probably 10 mins after (gap)
That should be fine.

Hey!!! Do you still use and recommend Lumify? Did you ever get re-bound redness?
Can u still use them if u have floaters
What will happen after eight hours?
The eyes typically return to the appearance before using the drops.
Can I get rid of yellowish eyes with help of this???
Unfortunately, no. What you’re referring to is most likely a pinguecula (we have a video on that as well).
Can I also use this while using Similasan Dry eye relief? Thank you

Sorry to hear your eyes feel dry. That is a documented side effect.
They don’t work for me either. Well, no better than any other eye drops.

Where I can ,from the philippines
