I totally love the version they recorded. As a musician, I understand Chris's frustration, that it didn't come out the way he envisioned. I was in love with this song by measure 2.. About 6 years ago, I googled him, and to my joy realized, he has been continually been putting out GREAT songs.. A while ago, he re-recorded some of his hits, playing all the instruments himself. AMAZING.. This man has a beautiful mind, and beautiful soul, and makes beautiful music..
I'd love to hear an original full-length recording of "Fool", but I'm kind of glad it wasn't released any different than it was. It was immediately one of my #1 favorite (non-Beatle) songs and 41 years later it's still up in my Top 10 of all-time favorite songs. And there are just a tiny tiny handful of songs that has lasted over 40 years for me. "Fool (If You Think It's Over)" is one of them.
Fool is one of my favorite songs ever. Chris has an interesting career. His life has had many struggles medically. A special kind of person for sure. My dream is to meet him and get inside his head. Live that man!!!
there are few songs that impact me like Fool does. It was perfectly executed. Fool is a classic that has stood the test of time vs. the many tunes that were going for what was "in fashion" in 1978 & were soon forgotten.
This song will be with me til I'm gone. I always pay attention to melodies but this song has it all lyrically too. Part of me is happy his original intention was messed up bcuz what made it to vinyl was so special .
My very favorite song in the world! I so love the version that was released it’s so perfect! Everything about it including Chris Rea, so perfect! LOVE Chris Rea!!!❤️ Really would love to listen to the original, also!
That's just another example of how foolish we are to think The Awarders will ever get it right. Chris Rea is a great artist and that's what's important to me, not some worthless award.
Loved the song when it came out and still do! Would love to hear the whole “Memphis” version. The little bit played at the end was/is so intriguing, and soulful as he had intended. Surely there is complete version available somewhere. Will check it out
It's beyond me how "Fool" could have lost out to Billy Joel's song....no offense to Billy, I like him, but "Fool" is a much better song.....always LOVED it ~~~~
Great guy and timeless song. But Gus Dudgeon who was the producer knew what he was doing and a hit maker by 1978 and he helped make "Fool" the classic it is today!
His 70's version was very good for the time. I've heard the remake he did years later and it just didn't have the charm of the 70's production at that time. It sold alot of records and made him a big star. George Lucas went back and added and tweaked to Star Wars 20 years later and ruined it. Leave stuff alone.
Chris songs come from heart & soul. Personally, I'm greatful .....what a talented man he is.
Fool is a masterpiece.
Удивительный человек Крис Ри. Всегда старается сделать свои произведения совершенными и у него это получается. Браво!

@@candygirl9230 Nagyon sokoldalú művész kedvencem, minden dalát szeretem, jó egészséget kívánok neki.
I really like seeing interviews of Chris rea. To hear the thoughts of where the songs came from, how they develop, and mature is just so interesting.
Ez a dal örökzöld, mindig örömmel hallgatom. ❤
I love finding your interviews to listen too makes my day 😊💙❤

Could it be the version he performed in the 2006 Live (The Road To Hell & Back)? Check that out if you haven't listened to it.. Cheers.
I will check it out.

Omg why doesn't he release his version??

I heard this song in a adult movie many many years ago.
(Peter) "O'Toole, won't you, please, bend over?" That Adult Film?
It reminds me of Timmy Thomas..."Why Can't We Live Together".
🙏👍😍
Interesting about the original intended sound...a blues song? Does anyone know if Chris rerecorded the song as intended?

Chis Rea loved the version by Elkie Brooks.
