MARCH 4, 2023: March 4, 2023, is Chris Rea's 72d birthday. Wishing Chris a spectacular new year filled with endless happiness, good health, and good fortune!! Hoping that Chris will grace us with more of his great music in the near future. Chris, never forget, you have our undying/unwavering love, respect and appreciation!
Always amazed at how humble and how much time a guy like chris, who sold millions of albums, put into explaining stuff (you already know if you've been playing for a while but still) while guys in music stores are so snobbish and aggravating to their customers....
Have been a Chris Rea fan for decades. I don't know much about guitars, but always find his videos about his guitars and technique extremely enjoyable.
I recall an interview he did and he something like people call me a rock star, why can’t I just be a musician? Fantastically humble and down to earth, a guy I would love to share a drink with!
Yes - talking to Richard and Judy, who are pleasant enough but pretty clueless and know nothing about music. He said that interviews are always about entertainment not music, and they proved the point!
Chris Rea is sooooo! naturally gifted----he's a multi-instrumentalist, has a great singing voice, and is one hell of a songwriter. When I was growing up I discovered him by and loved the song "Fool If You Think It's Over," which I heard on the radio in the 70's.
He's one of the most distinctive slide guitarists I've ever heard. Like Sonny Landreth, you can always tell when you're hearing Chris Rhea work his magic. A great singing voice as well!
No problem! You can clearly see that Chris loves talking about guitars, tunings, playing styles and such. He truely is one of the most underrated musicans and guitarists of all time.
Never fails. The best most tasteful players are always humble laid back dudes, while the big mouth ones range from crap to overated. Thanks for being the genuine article Mr. Rea, and thanks for many hours of first rate music.
Yep - they are. Several musicians I see regularly, all of them massively talented (and one played on Wired to the Moon) are like that. You say, that was brilliant after watching them play, and it's as if they are surprised almost. As one guy said (and he has played for the Royal Family) - you're only as good as your last gig.
I thik like U, or U think like me hahahahaha, bot I can also add Eric Clapton to them. I'm fan of all three, but Mark Knopfler is out of reach for my tastes.
Nothing fancy nothing fast no funny hair style, Everything is so simple even his rig and yet he sounds this awesome. It is actually very hard to do that. You have my outmost respect chris
Wow, just listening to Chris talk is a treat. What a nice bloke! What a genuine man despite all his fame! Might just be your next door nice neighbor. But he's not - he's a star in his own prescence!
I was running through some of his songs and this vid popped up. I wasn't looking for a guitar lesson, but the guy is so likeable and engaging I listened to the whole thing. Along with being a great musician, he's also a great teacher. Love this guy! ----------------------------- same here. I'd always thought he was a rather cerebral kind of musician (in the best sense of the word) only to discover what a great blues and rocker he could be. keep 'em coming Chris - you're truly an original
I was running through some of his songs and this vid popped up. I wasn't looking for a guitar lesson, but the guy is so likeable and engaging I listened to the whole thing. Along with being a great musician, he's also a great teacher. Love this guy!
He makes me WANT to listen to him, his style is so warm, friendly and fun. He makes it seem as though I could begin to learn. I relate strongly to his enjoyment of the different tones/sounds. What a great video!
I find a new video of you everyday and learn something new about you....AMAZING could listen to you all day even when its something I dont understand ❤your guitar and your voice are so Beautiful Love you forever
Chris is our hero musician! I still not believe i'm one of the lucky guys having one of this Fender Chris signature. I was chasing one for years and I finally got one! 🙂 Beautiful guitar!
I first discovered Chris Rea when I was travelling in Perth, Australia, in 1983, when I bought the CD of On the Beach. He has been a music friend ever since! A fantastic guitarist, song writer, story teller and vocalist and he has immense talent in a sea of musicians. I have read that his health is not well. Sincere best wishes to him, on his Road to Health! And thanks for playing and sharing your gift with the world. My mahogany Strat doesn’t quite reach Pinky’s heights ..... but it’s trying! Chris Rea - a master class. 😎👍🎸
What an artist! He is for sure one of the most valuable thing of the mankind thesaurus. For me this man is one of the best product of our civilization. Look at him how musical he could be!. You like his music from the first audition. Incredible!
Thanks for sharing. I love me some Chris Rea. I know it does not make any sense for him to come to the States. But I wish I could here him live. I remember hearing him on top 40 radio around 1978. One of his first hit songs was released in the US. "Fool If You Think It's Over". For some reason I never pursued his music beyond that song. I was messing around with yt one day and I saw a video of him with Bill Wyman and the Rhythm Kings. It knocked me on the floor. Then I noticed a few other songs like Diamonds and On the Beach. I was hooked. Then I came across "Still So Far to Go- The Best of Chris Rea". Once again it blew me a way. I have been playing primarily acoustic guitar for 50+ years. When I heard his guitar playing I said WOW! Then I really started watching his vids from yt. Thanks for yt. I have listened to a lot of UK artist that I never knew existed unless they had an agent or US exposure. Quiet impressive and then I found out about his health problems. But he still pursues his art. That says a lot about his passion!
You can tell this guy learned guitar the good old fashion way. By creating a relationship with it. Discovering, exploring and unlocking the notes that would become his great songs in the future.
Been a huge fan for the past thirty years...I was fading away until Stormy Road came out....Santo Spiritos Blues proves that this musical genius still has so much to share. I always knew he was a great story teller, I never realized he was so good on camera. I feel we've grown up together!

The moment the man touches the strings, the guitar starts to sing! And the extremely warm and down-to-earth way of Chris' way of conversation and explaining his way of guitar handling, in his heartwarming accent! Love it! Thank you , Mr. Rea. I enjoyed your lecture very much!👍❤🇳🇱😎 Too bad we have never met in real life.
