Rotary is a very under rated watch company. Im in England and my late Father would only ever wear Rotary, he swore by them. You get a lot of watch for the money. They do automatics also...
Rotary have an interesting history being a Swiss Watch brand from the late 1800's. Because they had the most success in the UK they moved their head office to the UK. I think they're Chinese owned now, but still based in the UK. They have a big back catalog of watches, but many of their current watches homage more famous luxury brands.

I like both! I went for the RZE no date version which is terrific! Regarding the Rotary, I have a couple of their models. I really like, their “Reverso”! Ideally I’d love the real version like yourself Dave but I think it’s not a bad compromise!
Good morning from England Dave. I slept to you and awoke to you. Thank you so much for doing a review of Rotary. People have deridingly said it's a fashion brand. From memory (not great!) the company was Swiss and founded by Moise Dreyfuss in Switzerland in 1895. Some of their higher end watches are still branded Dreyfuss I believe. Dreyfuss smoved to England because Great Britain was where his market took off I think. My memories, I'm very nearly 67, are that Rotary watches were considered (in our poor corner of the world) to be posh meaning classy and expensive. If you had one in the 50s and 60s you were doing quite well thank you. A deal was stuck with the government ordinance to manufacture watches for troops in wartime so British RAF pilots wore Rotary watches in Spitfires, Hurricanes and Lancasters. I think that it's more of an association with the UK than actual ownership of Rotary though. They're still very popular here. The brand is now Chinese owned, the watches are designed in Great Britain, are mainly quartz and made in China. They do have higher end ones with mechanical movements (maybe even some quartz too) made in Switzerland. Theres is a whole Wikipedia article on Rotary (never the last word for accuracy though). Concerning the Reverso, Rotary made the Revelation. I have one. It's a slightly rotund dress watch and is a two hander like yours. And you can revolve the dial, one face in black with Roman Numerals and one face in ivory with markers. You can use two time zones. I tracked one down for a good price and bought it from the USA. Now it's available on Amazon UK for 234GBP, less than I paid I think. So that's it. I had a Rotary (bought another since) homage to an Explorer (I had no idea) for years and my mother was impressed. She wouldn't have known a Rolex from a Timex. It had a date Cyclops at 3 o'clock though which the Explorer didn't have. They are all round good quality, very attractive watches and have good customer back up. Sekonda is another story and involves the Russians. That's more of a fashion brand. You'll get a 50 thousand fathoms look alike though. Sorry for being long winded. Sumimasen. 🙋🏽♂️👍🙏⌚

I absolutely love both watches. I've had my eye on the RZE Endeavor since your full review. I don't know much about Rotary, but I've looked and like some of their watches. This Rotary Cambridge is beautiful. I don't have any rectangular watches and this may just be it....
BTW, I just purchased 2 more of your t-shirts- F91 and Scuba Dude. I liked the one I bought a little while ago, wear it constantly, so decided to treat myself to a couple more.

I bought that very same Rotary Cambridge two weeks ago from Amazon for £112 - it's a bargain really, a nicely screwed together watch, that looks and feels great
I have not seen anyone mention Rotary since I returned from my assignment to the UK ( from 2000-2005). During my time in England, I actually bought the 2 dial Reverso style Rotary you mentioned and still have it in my watch box ( beautiful mother-of-pearl dials, white on one side and black on the 2nd dial). It is a major pain to replace the battery (at least in the USA). The last time I tried the well-respected chain watch store I brought it to had to send it to their main branch office because they could not figure out how to open it up with the two dials (i.e. where is the back of the watch!). Alas, it has been sitting in my watch box needing another battery for years now (partly because I graduated to mechanical watches and just forgot about it) but after this video, I took it out to look at it and it's still beautiful!
Isn't that just a tank not a Reverso? I'd be really awesome if it was a dual-time reverso. Now a reverso type watch is something a Micro brand should do. Talk about a unique watch to do an homage of.
The Chinese already have done a reverso, I can't remember the name but it's easy to find on Aliexpress

You know you’ve got a classy watch when it’s square, that rotary is beautiful. In 1999 I bought a brand new rotary Lexington model gold bezel white face black leather strap with fancy lungs, quartz, very thin, and it’s still running beautifully after 22 years it has a three jewelled ETA movement (I believe it is ETA) and it says Swiss Made below the 6 o’clock. It’s very difficult to find pictures of the Lexington on the Internet and the last time I checked I couldn’t. Anyway that watch will last a long long time very classy. I had no idea they ever used Japanese movements in what is essentially a Swiss watch company. I should make a video of it while I’m visiting family, I gave it to my dad.
I got the Medallion Yellow no-date as a part of the Kickstarter campaign and really like it. Wears great, looks good, and best of all: my wife likes it. Good vid. Keep at it!
Very nice looking watches, the Rotary is extremely classy and looks great, I personally prefer the RZE without the date window though.
Tank style: Seiko SUP880 - although it has a bit more of the Cartier Tank look to it with the crown.
Yeah, Rotary! Huzzah! One of the few watch brands that gets even less coverage than Citizen 🤣 I have 2 of these models, one in silver, another in rose gold. Amazing looking watches. Though I think you were stung price wise as these go for less than £130 in the UK.
At least remaining unknown means there most likely won't be anyone else wearing one!
Rotary is underrated for sure. I have a Rotary Henley GMT. It’s a fantastic watch for just under $200 US new with all the specs watch lovers like and Seiko seems reluctant and even not capable of giving us in this price range for some reason.
I liked in Japan for a few years, in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Wonderful place, wonderful country, wonderful horology. Definitely picking up the shirt and the Rotary!

Dave, you really should get a Reverso. It's a grail for sure and surprisingly not _that_ expensive; you can get a brand new one from Jomashop for $5229 and probably cheaper pre-owned. You know how it is, once one's in mind it never leaves. Ever.
that square Rotary looks so good. So sharp.. Not sure about the blue numerals and the font of numbers looks a bit too cartoonish. But overall looks very sophisticated. Funny thing, I hate quartz without the seconds hand :D Never know if it is dead :D Small seconds hand in the place of a date window would be perfect.

I got my Endeavor (gray dial) about 2 weeks ago and I absolutely love it, one of my favorite everyday wears now.
I was pretty bummed about the case it comes in, pretty much pointless after you get the watch. Wish they would have done a watch roll or something useful. The clasp is pretty mediocre but overall it is a fantastic watch and I'm happy with my purchase!
Check out Lip watches. They have one made in France called the T18 Churchill. Pretty cool looking.
I fancied a rectangular watch and ended up with a new Hugo Boss Quartz for about €60.
It was far chunkier than it needed to be; I sold it on.
This style of watch works best when it’s skinny.
I am not sure if it was mentioned already but many years ago one of the cable networks used to sell different watch rands on TV, Rotary was one of them and they had a complete homage to the JLC Reverso and it was automatic, I made the mistake of not purchasing it at the time as I should have. I have seen it occasionally on ebay but they are asking more now on the pre-owned market than when they were new

Hey Dave, there is Rotary Elite Reverso in case you don't know.
Rotary.. I think loosen up by one notch and the leather strap looks a tiny bit stiff.. as such, I usually condition such by gently rolling the strap, especially by the spring bars, so it added more curvature and thus won't shift the watch head as awkwardly towards one side of wrist or the other, if u know what I mean.
Both cool new additions.
Rotary is a great and overlooked brand.
They might be "non Swiss" but im on my 4'th.
One sold, and i have 3 in mty collection and monthly rotation.
I have a Jura, Le Locle Rose gold automatic. Awsome dress watch.
A cheaper "Breitling Navitimer" homage, that i use at work.
And a Ocean Avenger Panda quarts, that's in my top 3 of watches i own.
I have expensive ones too, George Jensen Banks, Longines Hydro Conquest 41 mm auto, but my Panda Rotary, is just below those two.

Purchased this Rotary at First Class Watches UK. You can get it at 150 US dollars plus additional 10% discount if first purchase from the site. The Cambridge Dial and Case looks very sharp in person and really pops out. Would recommend changing the Strap as it looks fake leather. But overall a very nice watch at the price point.
Been curious about Rotary watches for a while now. Also, I had a Casio aq 230 with similar dimensions (30mm, 38.5mm, 18mm) which I felt was too small for my 7.5" wrist. I'm really interested to see how you get on with this one considering we share the same wrist size. I'm kinda hoping that the slightly larger lug width & lug to lug of the Rotary make a considerable difference 😄

Rotary is kind of an old man brand in the UK, very common in high street jewelers, lot of quartz etc. They are currently trying to engage the watch community more with the Scuba 7 and the Heritage.
I was looking at a similar model to that but with roman numerals. After I saw it in person I realised it was never going wear well on me. If it was 35mm or less l2l I would've bought it.
the rotary is beautiful, but I would have left the date off and made it a hand wound.I especially like the way the crown almost disappears when recessed.
We have a couple of rectangular watches, not My style exactly but I have worn them occasionally but my wife wears them quite a lot. Two nice watches here, I do like yellow dial divers and just waiting for a Steeldive 1975 to arrive. However titanium even with the coating does scratch. I do dive and don't think it's the right material. When scrabbling around on the ocean bottom, it gets covered in scratches. I have a Seiko Air Diver SBDN019 that has a diashield coat on the titanium case and after just a few dives the cases is quite badly scratched, bad enough to only wear it diving as its not looking good for everyday wear. Stick with 316L steel if you dive or use it for activity sports like mountaineering, but as a desk diver titanium is fine.

As for Rotary, I did buy Rotary Oxford due to the design of the case and hands, minimalist dial - they are awesome, but the thing that wasn't that awesome was the cheapest Miyota quartz movement inside of the watch! It wasn't accurate and there were significant hands and shaft backlash when setting the time. I would love to see the same watch at least with Miyota 9000 series caliber inside. It would've been a bestseller watch, I guess. Rotary's QC should've been refined too.

Rotary has been around since the late 1800s. They’ve been around longer than most watch brands. The stuff they make isn’t vintage inspired, a lot of it is based on stuff they used to make though every war the UK has been involved in they contributed their manufacturing to help with.
Yeah, I should probably hit a watch Store BEFORE I blow my load in Akihabara in the arcades and game stores if I ever make it to Japan. 😅 Nevermind all the great food to try out... Yep, look at some Grandseikos, JDM Casios, food, Akihabara, food, Akihabara, touristy things like visiting temples and the geothermal baths and bullet trains.😅
Also, I gotta try the "Mario cart" racing they let you do on the streets.😅
The Ryusendo caves look cool too and so does the scenery in Iwate. Definitely look like a cool place to visit. I watch a lot of anime and I think rural Japan and anything that isn't Tokyo looks like beautiful places I'd love to drive around and visit.
The area I live is in the region that Princess Mononoke was set. More specifically the area Ashitaka was from.
I've always wanted to collect the Duo-Face Rotary watches, but they are not only super rare and very expensive for what you get, but I've heard they are not serviceable due to the batteries being sealed inside the case, so once the battery dies... the watch is nothing more than a paperweight at that point.
I want em still, but I'm also skeptical and cautious...
I read in some forum or comment section that in order to change the battery, you need to bring it to the store and have someone change it for you. It's not easy to change it yourself.

Rotary have a far bigger history than 99% of watches out there, a Swiss brand from 1895, I believe that moved to England 20 ish years later, yes there owned by a Chinese group of sorts but most things arnt owned by original owners anymore anyway, there style might not suit the masses in 2022 seeing as most only know what there watch costs these days 🙄 but for anyone that's actually in to there watches and love to dive into a brands history etc then rotary is well worth looking into.

One and the same. Their watch studio where they do a lot of the Grand Seiko and Credor work is about an hour and a half from my house.

Still in the works! Just kind of got distracted with other watches. Short version is it's a great watch that feels a tad over priced. But there's not a lot of decent square watches out there, so if you want an affordable one I think it's still a good option.

Reverso…I went to a JLC Authorized dealer to buy the Classic Large small seconds..
It just was too small for me..
Even the large size..
I liked it but not enough to spend $5k
Instead I bought an Omega Aqua Tera 41 Silver dial with Orange second hands..
It took less then 2 seconds when it was on my wrist to say…
“This is absolutely the best watch I have ever put on..”
Spent ($4k) and been wearing it non stop for 2 months…
I tried the 10k Rolex and for me the Omega is 100% better looking in those Rolex and I like Omega’s movement better then Rolex’s

Colour matched date wheels never seemed a big deal to me. In fact like yourself if it contrasts the dial and somewhat matches the markers its replacing I'm all for it. On the first one I'd probably rather a white wheel...
Although I seem to be one of the few who could care less about hacking and handwinding on a movement that is plus or minus several seconds a day anyway. Cracks me up to imagine people adjusting their watch daily back to +/- 0, because if hacking is that big of a deal to somebody they best be doing that!
I set mine daily. Not like it takes long and I set it ahead anyway. W/ no hacking I can’t pick exactly how far ahead. Not a big deal either way.

Your daily auto loses a known amount of time and you like to include that into the set. I can sort of understand your approach. Most of my daily autos gain a small amount of time. Like the SKX I put on to sleep in a few weeks back and just left on, it runs at +3 seconds a day. In the past with this one I have gone several months without adjusting time, I used to be so careful doing the date adjust not to move the hands!
Just out of curiosity what is your daily running at and if it were say +3 seconds a day would you still set it daily?
