Home lab is very powerful, also having good customer service is also a plus. This channel is awesome.
Thanks Jai.
I have customer service and sales experience. Need the IT experience.
That should help kevtechitsupport.com/helpdesk-getting-started-1
Currently 17 years old trying to get into IT and your channel is the place where I have learned the most, thank you for your content.
Thanks. Good luck on your tech journey.
around the same age here so I too hope I succeed.
The hardest part is knowing what to lab. You really helped me see that you can put a home lab on your resume and I have been working on that a bit. I've had my A+ for a decent amount of time and not really know how to get started so I studied the N+ 007 and still could take that test in a week, if it was still currently being able to be taken. I was told to get experience before I get another cert so I tried to not really any success so i have been studying the CCNA and loveing it. Just came across your videos a few days ago even though I saw that your in network chucks discord. I'll be finishing the AD lab when I get the exchange part done and rocking it out to put on my resume. Thank you for what you have been doing man because there are plenty who dont know where to start thier passion.
thanks Darth.
Life changing info right there for free!
Thank you Kev for putting out great content during these times. Hope your Dad is doing better.
Thanks
Thanks buddy! I hope your dad is doing better!
I see... A nuclear fusion of Customer service and Tech skills shining like the Sun 🌞🌞😎😎
Kev thank you for all your work in helping the newbies. I want to start a home lab but I'm not exactly sure what to do first. It's really hard to see what you're reading, and equally as hard keep up with what you're saying while trying to figure out what's on the screen. Thanks again
The helpdesk playlist is in the description of the video. Which is the home lab.
Already have my home lab set up on my laptop, currently learning AD and some Linux.
Nice
Thank you for the video best wishes for your Dad
thanks.
I just got a phone call for a interview later on this week after updating my resume using ur videos. Hopefully I can land that first job. Thanks for the help Sir.
Nice
thanks
I got my A+, but not really helping me to get a entry level position. I even set it up Virtual Machine, will do home lab watching your video. Wish me luck! Thank you so much Kevin
Need a good resume.
@@KevtechITSupport thank you. I have a good resume but half of the things in my resume I don’t know😀. What can I do about that?
Talk to teegan on my LinkedIn.
Cool

You start with this ua-cam.com/play/PLdh13bXVc6-k_u2RPqYAp8R8HtYT_ONht.html
Helpdesk Lab
If this doesn't make any sense, combine it with professor messer A+ material

Than you prepare to job interviews with these videos ua-cam.com/play/PLdh13bXVc6-kKU28wHX8dfnHMpmSfty3d.html
IT Interview Questions

Just make sure you understand what I'm doing
If you can explain what your doing in the lab than you should be ready for the interview
Since a lot of people follow a video but can't explain what there doing
Last but not least, you make the resume after learning the labs and hands on training using this video ua-cam.com/video/9FogsgVnpDM/v-deo.html
Went back to setting up my home lab PC. It's an older Optiplex.
Nice
Just was talking about this. Not 2 minutes ago! Mind reader! 😁
The power of the mind.

hey kev whats your dream job in IT? or end game? like 5 years out or something
Can't answer that question because I like everything. I can't see myself setting into one thing. My mind is always changing too because I work with different vendors and different departments.
Can I do a home lab with a Chromebook? Thank you for all of your videos!
That won't work. You may be able to do on azure using a chrome book but I haven't tested it.
Is the Helpdesk Playlist the Homelab Playlist?
It's in the description of the video, helpdesk playlist. You can use mine or someone else. Home lab can pretty much be any video you follow or decide to create.
I have VMWare on a windows laptop which was install to prace linux. I have a linux sever and nothing else. Could I use the same vmware and create new windows based server to create my help desk home lab?
yep.
Hey Kevin, I have a laptop that has a 128gb ssd (c drive) and a 1TB hdd d drive). I know you recommend having 250gb of storage space. Would you recommend using my hdd to install virtual box?
That could work if you install it on the other drive.
@@KevtechITSupport So just to clarify, you mean install it on my HDD (D drive)?
@@miguelflores1094 yes. Need to do research but there a way to put on the other drive.
@@KevtechITSupport cool will look more into it thanks.
Hey @KevTech, my current laptop has VirtualBox already installed to practice Linux OS, and it looks like I mistakenly allocated 300.5GB of space on there. This Issue I now have is that I cannot download a windows 10 os in my current VirtualBox. I do not want to delete or uninstall VirtualBox because of all the jobs I have on there. Am I able to adjust the space I allocated for the virtual machine that I initially created, or do I have to uninstall and reinstall? If I uninstall, I think I will lose all my Linux servers' work, and I do not want to do so. Any walk around this? The next option is to get a used pc/laptop and use it to do a new virtual machine download. Please help!
You have to delete the vm or copy the vm and lower the hard disk space onto a new vm. That's the only way. serverfault.com/questions/779106/how-to-decrease-virtual-size-capacity-of-a-virtualbox-vdi-file
also.. can this be done on a macbook?
it's possible but will be very painful.
So I don't have a spare PC. can I use my personal desktop for this?
You can do it on your personal pc or on the cloud.
Hello Kevin. I have a new laptop with 16 gig of ram, 512 ssd, intel i7 cpu but it came with windows 10 home and now it automatically wants to upgrade to windows 11 but I’m guessing is going to be home too.and that won’t work if I want to put a virtual machine.is there a way is there a way around this where I could install windows 11 pro and not let Microsoft stick me with the windows 11 home edition? Thank you!
If your computer has home. You need to make sure the pc supports it. Need to do research online for the motherboard.
@@KevtechITSupport before I purchase the laptop I read the specs and it says the cpu supports virtualization so I think I could install a vm on it.is a gaming laptop too.so that makes it even better the only thing I may have to pay Microsoft for windows 11 pro or 10 to get it to work.I don’t know if Microsoft will allow me to install windows 11 pro for free.thanks Kevin for your help.:)
@@garylove2836 make sure your laptop supports it. You can also contact the vendor.
@@KevtechITSupport ok will do.thanks Kevin.
hi kevin do I have to get a separate pc to work on homelab? Is it ok to do it on my main pc which I use for everyday usage?
do it on virtual box.
@@KevtechITSupport yes but I meant can I do it on virtual box using my main pc instead of getting another pc to do it?
@you tube on my helpdesk playlist I'm doing it on my own machine because I have a fast computer.
@@KevtechITSupport thank you for the answer kevin, one more question if you don't mind. I've seen one of your replies saying that windows 10 home edition doesn't allow virtual box to work so I should go for azure instead. So after I go through the setting up homelab with azure video, which video of the homelab playlist should I watch to get started?

Is there a laptop you reccomend to 300 dollars or less?
Get a desktop
@@KevtechITSupport cdesktop isnt feasable for me. Is a desktop absolutely necessary?
You can get a cheap used desktop for vms.
I have a laptop with 8 gigabytes of RAM. Would that be okay? I’m not able to get a new laptop or desktop.
not going to work, need more ram.
@@KevtechITSupport Even for active directory?
Your put it on a server. Minimum requirements is 4gb ram, you only have 8 so it will crash.
@@KevtechITSupport Do you have any videos on how to do that?
@@mabberthegreat1501 on what upgrading your ram? Nope. You either upgrade the ram, get a new pc or do it on the cloud Azure Training With Ryan: ua-cam.com/play/PLdh13bXVc6-lezrcGA7JrE7iFhRqcyJRl.html
