First instinct was "jeez we dont need ANOTHER celebrity making beauty products" but hearing about the packaging and how it can be helpful for people with medical issues made me (a disabled person) get on board. I just never even thought about how a makeup product could be made more user friendly and thats a bit sad. Im honestly just very used to our society being very ableist.
edit: oh wow thank you all for liking my comment, I felt really sort of ashamed opening up on the internet about being disabled because people have been cruel to me in the past about it but this support, silly as it may sound, really warmed my heart
Oh lord same. I’m not physically disabled, but being autistic, I know the struggle all too well.
It kind of reminds me of the bandaid thing like how band aids are a nude color so they don’t stand out as much but the nude shade is typically associated with white/Caucasian nude shades. That is because where these bandaids are sold are typically majority white. I never really thought about it until it was brought to my attention and I saw other brands pushing bandaids with darker shades.

yes, its pretty well thought. heard the packaging is thought to be user friendly as Selena herself has lupus n arthritis so she really fights for it to be easy to apply. even with her hand weakness n shakiness, she still can do her own make up n not worry if she throws her make up for being weak it may break as its plastic container. also, make up is vegan, cruelty free, other stuff cant remember, plus supporting mental health orgs, hope it grows n inspires other brands to be more user friendly!!!

She's literally a "Rare Beauty", she's so beautiful and also, as a girl with dark skin, I am always bullied. But after seeing this Video, she and her confidence inspired me to be confident of my skin color.

I'm so sorry you've had to deal with that nastiness and ignorance. Beauty comes in all colors and I'm glad that people are starting to realize how much beauty is at the darker end of the spectrum, but society still has a long way to go. People like Nyma and people like you showing confidence make a huge difference.

Just an FYI/fun facts about the makeup and packaging:
☆ The packaging has a ball on top for people that struggle with arthritis making it easier to open items since selena struggles with as well due to her Lupus and it makes it easier for them to open
. You can see videos of her doing her makeup and her hands shaking. The reason why the brow pencil is thicker than what most people expect a pencil to be, as well as the eyeliner tip, is also to help people with motor difficulties and those who struggle with precision. The aim of the packing and most of the products is to work well with each other and to make it easier to work with those who struggle with things the majority of people don't.
☆ The brand's goal is to donate 100 Million for Mental illness foundations.
☆ It is vegan and Cruelty-free.
☆ The packaging is Eco friendly.

I will buy my mom some of these products, didn't think there will be some make up products for arthritis patients ever.
I love that she made the packaging easier to use for those with disabilities and I love that she offers shades for ALL skin tones.
so sad that some people were making fun of Selena putting on eyeliner. People seriously dont understand that she has Lupus and how it affects her. I hope Rare kicks off. People with disabilities dont really get a lot of recognition if at all.

Sam R supposedly she was shaky when applying it - I didn’t even notice and didn’t see anyone making fun of her for it but I did see people in the comments saying how she’s shaky because of her lupus and expressing their support.

Ikr, I clicked on this vid for a review and seen her glow and was like boi is this girl a diamond or something. She is so pretty, her skin is so perfect. Gorgeous shade too. I’m a Copper toned fair with undertones of gold and olive. So my skin is alright except my dark circles be the only thing shining on me. My darker skinned sisters be out here not needing makeup because they don’t have visible dark circles and they glow and are pretty. I’m kinda jelly honestly.

Honestly, the only celebrity makeup brand I like was Fenty everything else is a money grab but RARE is giving me a run for my money! You can tell Selena truly believes in her products and only wants to make it easier for those with disabilities 🥺❤️❤️100% going to try the only issue is shade matching since I'm not good at it so I'm waiting to get a shade match in store 😂
I am the WORST at shade matching but I'm thinking about trying to use the shade match thing on Sephora. I have a few foundations that I know match me well and so I think I'm going to kind of check them all and see if they land on the same shade?
Yes!! I thought the same exact thing about rare beauty but when I saw the range of products, the shade range and the whole concept of the brand it totally changed my mind, you can see it’s something that had a lot of thought put into it compared to lady gaga’s makeup line which seemed to not fit her concept and was also an Amazon exclusive (I don’t wanna put more money in jeff bezo’s pocket), the good thing with this line tho I don’t think it’ll be too bad if you get the wrong shade since it is that natural skin tint type
yes! honestly i was excited when they anounced it and had a website. her team was amazing. didnt understand the hate. maybe they werent informed
I do think Haus Labs is pretty good. Their liquid eye shadow is actually incredible, and their eyeliner is great too. Pallets are decent, they'll improve over time like any brand..
The shade match on the Sephora site actually did its job for this foundation (for me). And that's saying something because my foundations NEVER match my skin, I always have to deal with it being slightly too dark, off tone, or 2 shades too light or 2 shades too dark. Or its too dry or won't blend out or makes my forehead lines look like I'm 103.
RARE is the only line that has my perfect match. Even fenty couldn't give me that, no shade, my skin shade and tone are just difficult to match. RARE Blended out perfectly. On top of that the foundation really is weightless feeling, just needs to be set.
So, yeah 11/10 the sephora match finder worked for this one. I used my closest match in 3 different foundations, looked at the swatch in store and surprisingly picked the right one.
The"ball" or circle thing on the cap is for us who struggle opening caps. I have Lupus too. Tho mine attacks all internally, hers is more focused on the kidney. One of our struggles is arthritis as the immune system attack our joints so much. There would be days I couldn't walk or everything felt like swollen and couldn't move or painful (which is everyday). Lupus is an autoimmune disease. In layman's term, our immune system is sooooooo active that instead of just fighting illnesses or viruses and bacterias, it also attacks healthy cells and our organs. I just had an operation last month as it attacked my GI. I am in pain every damn day, so having this is so thoughtful. This may be weird looking to others but it will help us a lot. Something that will help us and make us feel beautiful is a plus!
Does the material also make a difference? The foundation, concealer, and highlighter ball caps have a matte finish but the blush has a shiny finish
What were your GI symptoms ? Your stomach hurt every day and you don’t know why ?(currently going through something similar nobody can figure out )

@@pandatours nope. It will both have a grip to it if you're familiar to both kind of packaging. The matte and shiney both aren't slippery (based on experience from other brands and I think she took that to consideration too). It's just the shape of the packaging how big or small or tight the lock or grip of the cap usually makes it harder for us. So the ball help us not grip too much and I saw from other reviews that the lock or grip on the caps are not as tight as the usual or other brands :)

I like how she called it a sister brand to fenty, both are well thought out makeup brands with good products. But they’re not the same, both go for the natural/skin looking foundation & concealer but with other products Rare goes for a natural/subtle look and fenty has products that can stand out and give full glam. No competition, both are unique & worth buying.

the only product from rare beauty that i bought was the eyeliner and i can say that i love it. i did notice that it's not desired for long-wear and it comes off fairly easily, however, it is still one of my favourites.

I want to have a makeup line in the future and your reviews have helped me take note of what I should and shouldn't do considering skin tone. Especially since I've never really struggled finding my shade. I want nothing but to make everyone, no matter what skin color, feel no struggle finding their shade. It stays. She liked the products, specially the foundation's shade. Rerecommend the concealer & long lasting blush.
But she noticed like an oily stuff is the setting spray, and, after trying it; she don't recomend it to oily/greasy skins

I too just discovered Nyma two days ago. I was shocked with how many different products she used. I am so very impressed with her makeup videos!!! I am a 68 year woman and I am looking forward to seeing all of videos. When I was in my twenties I wouldn't leave the house without makeup now I hardly wear any at all. Back then I only used a moisturizer, foundation, and eye makeup. Occasionally some false lashes. She is a beautiful young woman and I hope to learn from her!!! I really wish you could come and do my makeup. LOL Seriously though.

The ball at the top of the foundation/concealer/blush/highlight allows people who suffer from Arthritis to open the product with their palms instead of putting pressure on their fingers. Very cute and simple design yet so helpful for people who struggle!! also you look absolutely GORGEOUS ❤️

They specifically tell you to shake the foundation first. That’s why there’s the little bead thing in the bottle to mix it.
