Great video James, keep up the good work JC
Thank you.. will do
Awesome work pal . How have i not come accross this channel in the past
. Subscribed
Thank you.. you've found us now 👍👍
this is the best engine, my kadett has the same coscast head with 2300cc crankshaft 94.6mm and pistons ford duratec 88.5mm, Brazil lengths
We love a vauxhall xe here... Thanks for watching
Vauxhall is the best ! Very good video
Does it look like HD for you?
We ain’t guess it ,we get it right-Love it 💪🏻👍
Great video James .
Thanks mate
Well done beautiful work
Thank you
Fascinating video James, sounded awesome on the dyno👍.
Thanks Ian
Loved watching the Build process mate.
Can't Beat the sound of a National Hot Rod Engine on Full Chat.
Been a fan for years.
Thanks Steven. I agree the red top is a special engine
Dang the knowledge is insane! Subbed!
Thank you
Great work on the xe mate,
My calibra also likes this build,
Keep the videos coming,
Cheers
Thanks Luke, has your calibra got an xe ?
@@graceenginedevelopments sure does, I'm slowly replacing parts that are on their way out or getting close to like bushings gaskets etc,
Recently the head gasket had been pissing coolant out over the gearbox and I had been keeping an eye on the level and just topping up when needed,
This has led to what I assume has washed away the spline grease on the input shaft and now the release bearing is super noisy unless I lift up the clutch pedal,
Though the weekend before last I thought I would try that nulon head gasket repair - I've been quite sceptical on these additives but took a punt and it has actually worked, but how long for....
Amongst other things that need to be done, the calibra is going well so far
Good show mate
Thank you
Loving this, I've gone from my first love, the 1600 kent/valencia x-flow in my mk1 xr2 to Vaux xe engines. This is the channel for me, great stuff.
I'm in love with that cam lift / duration machine, mind blown.
There all great engine. The cam machine is very good
@@graceenginedevelopments If piston hit gasket dont you think problem is the gasket not the piston?
@@robertokandal it's just the edge of the gasket so relieving the piston is fine, you can only use a std gasket
@@graceenginedevelopments.thought they were aloud up to 87mm bore ?
Your aloud up to 1.5mm oversized.
Great video James, very informative as always, keep up the good work 👍👍👍
Hi Paul.. thanks... Will do... How are you?
@@graceenginedevelopments I’m grand thanks James, you ?? Had a busy week here then the rain came for the weekend !!! I’m about to fire up the Zeus and try get to the reason for an intermittent engine light, should be fun 😂😂😂
I'm ok.. just flat out.. trying to keep everyone happy... The Zeus is a good bit of kit.. guided diagnostic is good.. whats the car /problem.. do you want some help finding it🤣🤣
@@graceenginedevelopments the Zeus is good alright, between the guided diag and the Helpdesk it’s easy to work with I find, I’ll pick you from the airport in the morning so 😂😂😂👍👍👍👍
Lol
Another very interesting video
Thank you
Thank you!
Your welcome
Superb episode ! what a great engine
Thanks Graham.. we love vauxhall XE
@@graceenginedevelopments I love vauxall old engine with 8 valves.thye are strong and reliable,, can you tell me difference for 16 valves? For me basically is for more speed at hight rp,m.. but iam not sure i often dont use them.old stuff
@@robertokandal they do rev very well top end
Great video
Thanks paul
always good seeing other people enjoy these engines in whatever shape or form :D
i got a stock ( for now ;) ) road use xe in my project calibra.
ohh gues the hp, with individual throttlebody's na it should land arround 300hp max ?
Hi thanks for watching..
The power was around 230
The head and valve size are std
@@graceenginedevelopments allright, wasnt sure how far you guys where pushing it on this build :)
il check out some more content later iam a new vieuwer.
Awesome.. thanks for viewing and welcome to our channel
Hi James do you sell Elring bottom end gasket sets for these engines if so how much would they be also fantastic video again well done Tracey xx
Lol... Can't afford too
Thought the video was great
Thank you
It's been a fair while, but i thought they needed to be hydraulic - or the OEM type?
Seem to recall something about the profiles used back then destroying the gen' INA hydraulic followers - if they did change the requirement, might have been for reliability?
On that, and it may be a stupid question (wouldn't be my first - or last), do they adjust the cam' timing depending on the track length and conditions? I mean whether to bias towards peak rpm or aim for better torque a little lower for drive off the corners?
I'm not sure about the hydraulic followers, a bit before my time maybe.. you could definitely change the tune for short and long tracks but it would be quite a lot of work
Awesome watch. Quick question. The 4-2-1 exhaust the hotrods run are different lengths for there different cams. How much of a difference would that be to the 2 exhaust you ran? Is it possible you can say the numbers achieved on the dyno?
Thanks Ben next time I run a XE on the dyno I'll try different manifolds and show the Dyno graph
Thankyou. How much is a dyno session. My mate I help has two engines, one for torque. One for bhp. Supposedly. But one Simpson manifold. It would be nice to go check them with you tbh to see what one has better numbers
Sorry Ben I missed your last question.. I charge 450 for the Dyno.. although it's currently being reinstalled in the new workshop so probably won't be back up and running for a month
Nice video, can you make Todd's engine sound and go like that ?
I can try..
Xe power 👌
Awesome engine.. sounds mega
@@graceenginedevelopments yes and hope at some point for you to sort mine 👌
Let me know mate
@@graceenginedevelopments sure thing james. Won’t be yet as got lot more to do
Do you know if anyone tried to put x20xev pistons in a c20ne?
I don't know anyone, I'll look at the specs to see.
@@graceenginedevelopments would be grateful. I've put the engine together maybe 2 weeks ago. Just want to know if anyone tried to use it long term. I already did 1000kms with it. It runs stronger and better than before, and without a tune.
always rod number 4 that lets go on xe engines, cast rods dont like high rpm lol
Yes.. they definitely don't.. these were steel though.
So Ive just bought a pair of reprofiled camshaft’s for my Vauxhall XE engine and they are sold on a fast road basis and fit to the engine on it’s standard timing markings because the clearance are said to be safe. Out of interest before fitting, i measured the lobes on my original cams and they were 44mm, but the upgraded cams had shorter lobes at 40mm. Now I would of thought the upgraded cams would have higher lobes, or atleast the same size for valve lift. Can anyone explain why this is? Do the upgraded cams give me more valve opening durations over the standard ones? Turned engine over by hand several times and it feels perfectly ok as in no valves colliding with the pistons. I’m just a bit curious. Piper cams they are and claim to give a power increase of 12bhp. I’ve already got a direct cold air duct and a large bore 4-2-1 exhaust manifold with a 2” straight through pipe. I’m excited to see how well the power gains with be. But very curious about the lobe sizes being different. Also, it occurred to me that is it necessary to change the valve springs to accommodate the upgraded one or would the standard springs be ok?
Hi.. you need to know the base circle and take that size away if your measuring top to bottom.. without proper equipment it would be difficult to measure accurately. I would also say you would need better springs and depending on what cam profile you have you may need mechanical followers instead of hydraulic.. do the cams have any identification numbers on.
why ddi that conrod broke?
I'm not sure on the old engine. I think a bolt let go
what was the hp and torque?
I can't remember Johnnie. I'll look and let you know
Deae Sir, i am working on the same engine. Can you tell me how much tork i'll need to fasten the crankshaft bearings ( in Newton meter)
I would be glad to hear from you!
Hi Jan, are the bolts standard or ARP?
@@graceenginedevelopments, standard bolts Opel/Vauxhall . My local garage told me it has to be 35 NM plus 45 degrees and 15 degrees.
Could that be correct?
@@ynosdvdtje the mains are 50nm plus 45°
The big ends are 35nm plus 45°
New bolts in both
@@graceenginedevelopmentsthank you very much Keep on posting new video's !
@@ynosdvdtje your welcome, will do
with injector you achive better results, casue they can change fast according to the condition you tunne it...
I agree Roberto, but you have to use carbs in the rules
You did not make any break in? just build it and and send it to full throttle?
Hi, it got broke in on the Dyno.. then full send.
@@graceenginedevelopments how is the engine break in on dyne i am curios of the sequence ...i am not trying to be disrespectful , just do not know. Thanks!
@alexandrucurca7888 we ran it at variable rpm and load for just over 1hr, making sure the fueling etc was ok.. then finished off with the tune
That bottom end/block looks so much like a Ford Pinto 2.0 L engine
Hi Mika.. there a bit different when side by side..
@@graceenginedevelopments thanks for the info that engine sounded great keep up the great work
Will do thanks
265-275 hp Cant beat a good EX , my mate has 2 Swindon XE's in the garage 1 dry sump the other wet sump ....
Hi Giles.. this is on standard ports so quite restricted.. 230bhp..
Does you friend want to sell them?
@@graceenginedevelopments No both are for his Hot Rod again on carbs think its a spaceframe 207 or similar ...
Oh cool.
not in HD?
Hi Harry what do you mean??
Is the picture quality bad for you Harry?
@@graceenginedevelopments The quality is excellent great video
Thanks Graham
36 minutes of no information what so ever, hiding the piston weights and the final power figure was what 20hp? i would rather watch paint dry....least I would know how long it took.
Oh your one of them kind of people are feel free to not watch anymore video's, and it says guess the horsepower if you look on the other comments the title has been answered
