As a fisherman, I must say, "no fish" may/may not mean there are "no fish". Just because I AM NOT CATCHING THEM, does NOT mean there are none there. Maybe, there are no fish, but maybe not--maybe you don't know how to find them, or get them to bite.
Its a manatee slow zone. A little common curiosity would be nice when in close proximity of other boats in a congested area. Also, 46 U.S.C. § 2302(a) provides that a person operating a vessel in a negligent manner or interfering with the safe operation of a vessel, so as to endanger the life, limb, or property of a person is liable to the U.S. Government for a civil penalty.
You think that's bad on your boat trying going through there with a 21 ft bay boat. I stayed in Cape Coral for a month one year and fished around Pine Island so every day we had to deal with that crap. I have a house now on Pine Island so no more Miserable Mile. Thank goodness.
After completing the Great Loop I gave up expecting people to be courteous. I'm rarely disappointed. Complaining about wake is like RV camping at a truck stop and complaining the trucks are running. Wake is part of boating unfortunately

I travel this route a few times a week, once they leave the min wake zone it's a free for all.

Kenny! You are responsible for your wake! If you don't understand the law!
Miserable mile comes by its name honestly.
You don't like waves?
Buy an RV!

You are correct my friend. It's not fun in any size boat. Except sport fish. They love it. Okay, maybe not all sport fish.
Think you need a caravan because man you can moan. Boats make wakes... It's not like you were tied to a dock
