Slime is a byproduct of life. Life hates copper. Microorganisms don't tend to grow on copper. Great idea whoever had it. But the outer casing of the plumbing is brass or bronze which is mostly copper anyway.

Depending on what time of year it is, that green on the water could just be pine pollen. It gets pretty thick at times.

Don't know if it works on the mayflies or whatever they are, but mixed spearmint oil w either water or alcohol, been a while so don't remember, and sprayed my dad's pontoon boat and the supports holding the marina roof up. We didn't have any of those spiders on the boat. Sprayed the guy next to us because we fished together some. Only 2 boats that didn't have spiders and webs on the boat

Haha, my daughter's dog would already be in the water trying to catch one. Someone found her in the dumpster at around 8 weeks while she was a college and I was mad. Three job school, eat and sleep. Best dog "we've" ever had. Shoot a gun and she's looking at the sky for something to fall. Gets irritated if you shoot a couple of times and miss. Finds someone that's a better shot to hang out with!

Need to add Ft Jefferson to your list to visit. Seventy miles west of Key West, so need a several day good weather window. I believe it used the most bricks of any fort built. Dr Mudd, accused in the Lincoln assassination plot, was jailed there.

Seems like they are just before and after St Andrews inlet and St Simons inlet. Haven't been on their water much farther north so couldn't tell you where they stop. Giant green headed horse flies is what we've encountered. I try to warn people when they start the loop, but their videos are normal delayed and they've already experienced them. The other thing is the No-See-Ums. Most screens aren't fine enough to keep them out. Know for sure they're all the way up to Charleston. Daughter played soccer against a team on Daniel Is and when the wind stopped we were eaten!

Do they have nets across the inlet? Maybe moving it out of the way for a sub to come out.

I did NOT have to bleed injectors. Just pump until fuel filled the filter and I could hear fuel bypassing the full filter and returning to the tank.

I was stationed at Cherry Point for a number of years. I retired in Pensacola, FL, but I do miss NC. We used to go to the farmer's market in downtown New Bern every weekend.

What's your experience trying to get Stella to pee or poop on the boat? I'm trying to train my dog to go on the boat, but I can't even get him to pee on astroturf set next to his favorite streetlight at our house.

Yuck. At least they don't bite. Better than no-seeums and green head flies. We got inundated by Mayflies when we were bringing a boat back from Detroit to Rhode Island. Big, ugly and they die on your boat by the hundreds.

We call them See-ums the opposite of no see-ums. No biting so that is not the issue, the issue is when they die you get a green spot on your fiberglass. You hit the nail on the head with a fresh water issue. Lots of spiders too! You are just south of Chesapeake city, that anchorage should be better also good places to eat. 225 Prime, best place but others may be less expensive and also good. Safe Travels! TK

A major change in plans, seemingly on the spot. As someone who boats in Narragansett Bay (summer resident) I have to say you are missing a wonderful cruising ground. Newport, Wickford, Dutch Harbor, Tiverton, East Greenwich, Bristol and more. Lots of nice harbors and coves. Peconic Bay on Long island is also a great place to cruise -- Greenport, Sag Harbor, Montauk, Coecles Harbor, and more. Connecticut has Stonington, Old Lyme, Niantic, Mystic etc. New England is a real treat. Nothing wrong with the Chesapeake! Endless lovely coves on the Eastern Shore and enjoyable towns, similar on the west side of the Bay. But it gets awfully steamy there in July and August.

Dad had a 42' Chris-Craft Constellation that was about 17' in height from the waterline, he always made me set two (Danfort) anchors, stern first--bow second. Wind pressure on the side of a large boat is equivalent to a sail, something gotta give.
