Yes he was! If you remember he was designing plays to the strengths of his players which is why we had so much success for several years! He is an offensive genius! Kenny Irons came out of nowhere to b probably best back n sec that year 2005? Dominating O line helped for sure! I loved those Tuberville years from like 2002-2007! Consistently in the top 10 n his record during that stretch first top 10 teams I believe was either number one or at least in the top three? I was in Auburn for most of those games n it was a special n memorable time to b Auburn fan!
Are you kidding? We were terrible in 07. Sure we were worse in 08, but if we don’t fire Borges we don’t get Malzahn and he winds up at Arkansas after Petrino’s wild motorcycle ride. We also don’t get Cam Newton.
Oh and I just realized RIP Rod bramblett! Our announcer for 20 years or so now passed away n a terrible car accident! He will b missed for sure n can not be replaced!
After this game, the series turned big-time in UGA's favor. Winning streaks - 2006 - 2009, 2011 & 2012, 2014 - 2016 - 11-3 in the last 14 games. Who would have thought that one team would take over the rivalry in a series that has always been VERY even... As a Georgia fan, I think the Cam Newton, Nick Fairley, etc game in 2010 turned this friendly rivarly into a bitter one and UGA circles this game every year on the schedule. My opinion..
Yes you are right Georgia has dominated Auburn last decade! The problem with Gus is there's never been any consistency? we might look really good for a couple of games and then we might look bad for a couple games! Unfortunately with teams like Georgia and our rival Alabama being inconsistent just won't cut it! To me this is the make or break year for Gus because we do have probably one of the toughest schedules in the country but we have Georgia and Alabama at home so we need to take advantage of that! If we don't we need another HC! Sorry but too many games where it just looks like we don't know who we are ! Leaves us scratching our heads trying to figure it out! We've had a top-10 defense are we last couple years and we haven't been able to capitalize on that because of our offensive inconsistencies which is very disappointing considering we've had a lot of talent and Gus is supposed to be a offensive guru and I haven't seen that so like I said we'll see this year!
We lost at home to Georgia in gut wrenching and sickening fashion in 2023. It is absolutely sickening to be a mid College Football team, and to be leading for most of a game against an elite team, thinking that you’re gonna win, and then lose it at the end. I really hope we can beat Georgia in Athens in 2024. That, and that we can beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa. It’s been a long time since we’ve beaten Georgia at Sanford Stadium. I had just turned a year old the last time we beat Georgia in Athens. Like I said, I’d also really like to beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa. And I think we might… just might… have the head coach to compete with Nick Saban and Kirby Smart: Hugh Freeze.
The 4th Down rule? If so, yes, you cannot forward a fumble on 4th Down and recover for the spot gained. The ball goes back to the spot of the fumble. Thank Kenny Stabler and the Raiders for deliberately abusing it for a TD, thus creating that rule..
@@donaldstubbs8641 Incorrect. As Phillip Crain noted, it's only a touchback if the defense recovers or the ball rolls out the back or side of the end zone. If the offense recovers on 1st, 2nd or 3rd Down, it's a TD. If the offense recovers on 4th Down, it goes back to the spot of the fumble.
This was voted SEC game of the year by the AP by a large margin that year.
It will go down in History of the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry in a 31-30 classic
That 4th down play late in the 4th quarter will always be one of my favorites.
Wish we'd go back to that type offense. Auburn must flip that rivalry back in our favor for recruiting purposes. WDE!
I remember this game like it was yesterday..sitting on my bed ecstatic about that 4 down play..
Some of the best memories include Auburn football when I was 17 and 18 years old.
Al Borges is one of the great offensive minds in the history of college football. Tubby never should have fired him in 07

The chippiness left with Richt. No coincidence.

Back when we had a real football team.
That was a great night to be in athens ga.

11:47 Hmm that score looks familiar lol
Auburn and Georgia are one most the most historic schools in the country

Does that same rule still stand? I don’t think it does, could be wrong

That rule has changed. If the ball is fumbled into the end zone, it's a touchback. Georgia ball, game over.
@@donaldstubbs8641 That is only the case If the opponent recovers or it goes out the back. Otherwise, it's your ball.
