Doesn't seem like much of a difference although now I hear you mentioning the fogging issue with the OneR. It will be interesting to see what downsides come out about the OneX2 over time. Obviously the X2 is being pushed now because it is the newest product and sales are being pushed. One of the things consumers wanted from the X2 were removable lenses that could easily be replaces like a Gopro lens. Bottomline: concentrate on producing good content rather than resolution and stitch lines. There isn't much of a difference with the 360 vids.
Thank you for this excellent test. I find the image of the Insta360 One X2 "crispy" compared to the One X and the One R (which was already more detailed than the One X), more dynamic sensor, perfect stitching even up close, very good sound, Waterproof, lens protections possible, no screw below to screw it and be sure to be in the axis of the pole and see the pole suddenly disappear (which is not the case with the OneR with its system GoPro), Pureshot, and new Insta360 functions for this new Camera which will probably not be added to the Insta360 One X in the future. So tonight I fall for the purchase of the Insta360 One X2, to replace my Insta360 One X. Thank you very much for this test which helped me decide.
I'm a long term One X user and I wish they'd address the smeary line when then sun is in the shot which can ruin a shot. It's on the One X2 also. My ideal One X2 would have been, slightly thinner body (to improve stitch line at closer subjects, even if main body made longer), ability to put down without resting on the lens, ability to turn off the massively annoying short power down time when not using a mobile (number 1 annoyance to me when hunting wildlife with just the camera on selfie stick and finding at 30s or so it has gone into standby), better stability in low light would have been nice but maybe not possible without a bigger sensor. I agree with you, the One X to X2 is not really much of an upgrade. Keep up the good work.
Thanks! The ONE X2 has a mode to set auto switch off. You can set 30 sec, 1 minute etc. Lets hope they actually have a new sensor and lens in their next cameras.
ARE THE UNDERWATER SHOTS FROM THE ONE X2 in sharp focus? Or is the housing still necessary. If it can be used for 10m and above for snorkeling and shallow dives, this is great news. Or is it 180 for underwater, not 360??
This is something I will need to test as I'm not 100% sure. I imagine it will be in sharp focus. You definitely need a housing to get a seamless 360 stitch underwater. So it will be more 180 when in water up to 10 meters without a case.
@@Best360 Yea, the underwater stuff is never totally seamless but if you keep the stitch areas in blue water, it is hard to tell. Thank you for the input. The MAX and Fusion can go underwater but they are soft. The FlytPath guy had his kids jump in a pool and the One X2 looked like the shot was fairly sharp. If so, would make a great snorkeling camera.

The Insta360 community on Facebook is a great place. Insta360 also have a section on the app to upload your photos and videos, and you can earn points for doing so!

Hello. Would like to ask how to export a reframed/edited photo from the Insta360 app to my phone gallery? Every time I try to export, it just comes out as a rectangular photo that has all views. Is snapshot the only way to export an edited photo?
The sound on the X2 leaves a lot to be desired, not least with all their promotion and quad mic's and all that jazz. But I doubt how much they can do with it on software as some of the reason for the sound quality is likely down to the waterproof aspect and not least as high as 10m that is quite deep with significant pressure when we are talking microphones. The sound comes across as quite over-enhanced... have you tried the other option, the wind-noise-option and see if it sounds richer and not as enhanced, as you can hear how much it is enhanced from fx the level on the R.. 4:20 thx for the vid. I have seen quite a few videos now with the X2 vs R and X and no doubt the picture quality are somewhat better on the X2.. the colors are richer and teh detail are better and the contrast also way better. ,, even if the specs are equal the X2 results are definitely preferred... the video also have way more details.. also stands out here 2:30 btw the option of attaching Bluetooth to the X2.. you can definately connect bluetooh gear to the X2 like fx a Bluetooth headset (not apple AirPods) and it clearly connects and it shows the Bluetooth headset by name and connected.. but not sure to what gain??.-- can you use the headset (not apple AirPods) for sound when playing videos back, or can you use that headset(not apple AirPods) mic if they have a mic' to fx speak too, while recording..? Or is the X2 solely locked to only Apple Airpods and even if the X2 do connect and find other headsets.. it got no use-case whatsoever in practice? if that is the case, it makes no sense and Insta360 should ASAP make third-party BT-headsets-mic be valid thru Bluetooth, not least with the massive step back in sound quality the X2 seems synonym with in regards to fx X and R, that IMO sounds better.
you forgot to mention that video will be recorded in short sequences with X2 this is a huge deal breaker, because between sequences (no recording) and you will not get long solid video
One big question. Is the Steady Cam Mode of the One X 2 good enough to be used as an normal action cam? Or is the 4k Mod of One R way better as an normal action cam? So when I only want to by one camera and I don't have any camera. Will be One X2 good enough not only to be a 360 camera but also to be my one and only action cam? So could you make camparing videos of 4k Mod and Steady Cam Mode?
The max steady cam video out of the x2 is 1440p. It is better in a sense because the fov is wider and it has 360 degree horizon lock. The 4k mod doesn’t have horizon lock
As a rule of thumb... the phone should be no more than 2 years old. But everyone's phone is different. Some people may have apps which are doing background tasks which can effect the Insta360 app performance. So even if we had the same phones, it will not work exactly the same.
Great informative video, I am a motorcyclist and do the occasional vlog, I have 2 x Gopros, but would like to get the shots that GPs cannot achieve. I was thinking about the one r but after watching ur video, Im swinging towards the 1 x2. Based on the profile and the "better stitching" would you agree?

Don't insta360 have replacement stores in Europe. I know they have in the USA.. so if your scratch your lens, you will contact them, and you will need to show them proof of the defect and likely also some proof that your the legit owner, and then you will ship it to them and they will ship a new to you. but it's not cheap, and something like 1/3 of the total cost in Europe if you have scratch both lenses..
One x2 if you want to edit videos on your phone (fast workflow). GoPro max if you want nicer looking video but ok with desktop workflow (slow workflow)
Next time.. less roll of you at a desk talking about it.. if you want to talk, go for it, just show video/photo examples instead of you at the desk.. footage: that's all we want to see.. the whole time. You're a nice looking guy, but I saw more of you than I did of actual footage comparisons.
I’m surprised I only read one comment about sharpness and detail. It seems much better on the X2 than on the X. I’ve always been annoyed with the X’s lack of sharpness and detail. Is it just me?
Thanks for the great video. I have been using the mi sphere 360 for a long time and now looking to upgrade to either One R or X2. I mostly want to do vlogs and virtual tour pics and videos so I have 2 questions. 1. Using the built-in mic, how big is the defrenc between One R and X2 (Since x2 has 4 mics) is it possible to vlog with both (without using an external mic) 2. Is there a huge difference between the Normal 360 pic taken on One R and Pureshot on X2 (keeping Virtual tours in mind) because I think they wont be bringing the pure shot to One R 360 and is it a deal breaker when it comes to virtual tours? To be honest I love the One R design as I can place it on alot of places without using a tripod and wont have to worry about it flipping and damaging the lense, but if there is a huge defrenc in the points mentioned above then I will get the One X2.
The ONE X2 has a better body for virtual tours because its tall and slim. Their internal mics are pretty much the same. And there is no significant different in photo quality between the 2 cameras

Hi, thanks for the review. My X2 is on order as a Christmas present and I can’t wait to see how I get on including it with my drone videos. As a matter of interest there is one feature I’ve seen very little information on and that is the ability to record GPS information and I wonder if you could please clarify if you need the extra module to do that or can you use your phone GPS. How good is the information recoded?, the insta picture seems to suggest its coordinates and a squiggly line. I have a video camera that has built in GPS and I can take the file the camera creates and import it into, say Google Maps, and get a plot of all my videos which is, I think, a great idea. The ONE X2 is a great Christmas present! You can record GPS data via your phone or the Insta360 GPS Smart Remote. The GPS Smart Remote is more reliable, as long as it's exposed to the sky, don't hide it away in your pocket for example. Hope this helps!

Simply not the video quality I was hopeing for a new released 360 camera. I don't care about mobile phone app but I do care about the image quality. At 500+ euros I espected more. X2 must have a considerate drope in price before I consider it. I think 350euro would be a fair price for the image quality it delivers.

The new one doesn't need to be twisted to lock/unlock. Just pull it out and it stays out. Push it in to collapse it. I do think it's a bit shorter than the older one.
@@JH-qx6wq There are actually a lot of off brand selfie sticks out there so I didn't bother mentioning which is the best and just referred to the newest one of Insta. FWIW I went with 3rd party since they fulfill my needs at a much lower price but, to each his own. I have 2, the regular length (a little over a meter fully extended) and the really long one (about 3 meters).
The newest Insta360 ONE X2 selfie stick is probably the cheapest and easiest selfie stick to use. You just pull it to extend it. The old selfie stick was pull and twist to lock it.
At the high end, there is also the Best360 selfie stick which you see in my videos. This one provides the most security. The selfie stick will not collapse on you like the Insta360 one. The video quality from one r is of poor quality.. I edited it in app on iPhone 11pro max with highest quality selected.. Any inputs on how to get high quality videos

What a piece of junk, the Insta360 one X2 !! Had I known from the begining that you need to connect the camera to a phone( in my case An Apple Phone because my $1'000 dollar samsung Note 8 that accepts everything refused to connect by bluetooth to this camera. Maybe you should make consumer aware of the pitfalls of investing in junk like this and not so much what a 360 video looks like.....( as far as tools go...) its garbage and can not stand on its own..

The One X2 has lens guards on the B&H site for $19.99. I was wondering if the One X and X2 have the same size lenses and would it be possible to use the lens guards for the One X2 on the One X. Thanks for all your input and advice, specially your editing tips. Keep up the good work.
I think they are the same lenses but I am not 100% sure whether it will fit. Because the ring around the lens is slightly different.
Hi, thanks for the review. My X2 is on order as a Christmas present and I can’t wait to see how I get on including it with my drone videos. As a matter of interest there is one feature I’ve seen very little information on and that is the ability to record GPS information and I wonder if you could please clarify if you need the extra module to do that or can you use your phone GPS. How good is the information recoded?, the insta picture seems to suggest its coordinates and a squiggly line. I have a video camera that has built in GPS and I can take the file the camera creates and import it into, say Google Maps, and get a plot of all my videos which is, I think, a great idea. The ONE X2 is a great Christmas present! You can record GPS data via your phone or the Insta360 GPS Smart Remote. The GPS Smart Remote is more reliable, as long as it's exposed to the sky, don't hide it away in your pocket for example. Hope this helps!
Thanks for the quick reply. One quick request: in your editing tips video, would you be able to explore the possibility of removing the red dot in post production? I know some editing suites can automatically remove selected objects, I wonder if this red dot is as removable? Thanks again. Peter
It's hard to remove unfortunately. I'm looking for best practices to prevent the dot at the moment.
Simply not the video quality I was hopeing for a new released 360 camera. I don't care about mobile phone app but I do care about the image quality. At 500+ euros I espected more. X2 must have a considerate drope in price before I consider it. I think 350euro would be a fair price for the image quality it delivers.
can this version be used with an external battery pack to extend run time...or only with the internal battery?

What do you think is the best selfie stick for the Insta360 One X2 and may you explain the difference between the normal invisible selfie stick and the X2 one?
The new one doesn't need to be twisted to lock/unlock. Just pull it out and it stays out. Push it in to collapse it. I do think it's a bit shorter than the older one.

@@JH-qx6wq There are actually a lot of off brand selfie sticks out there so I didn't bother mentioning which is the best and just referred to the newest one of Insta. FWIW I went with 3rd party since they fulfill my needs at a much lower price but, to each his own. I have 2, the regular length (a little over a meter fully extended) and the really long one (about 3 meters).
The newest Insta360 ONE X2 selfie stick is probably the cheapest and easiest selfie stick to use. You just pull it to extend it. The old selfie stick was pull and twist to lock it.
At the high end, there is also the Best360 selfie stick which you see in my videos. This one provides the most security. The selfie stick will not collapse on you like the Insta360 one. One r and one x2 right now is pretty much the same video quality. I prefer the x2 overall. It’s a lot more convenient than one r.

Did you use similar shutter speeds and max auto iso values?
They were all on auto mode. EV 0. It's what you get if you do not change any settings what so ever

The video quality from one r is of poor quality.. I edited it in app on iPhone 11pro max with highest quality selected.. Any inputs on how to get high quality videos
Maybe the next camera won't have the red dot of death 😂👌. I will probably update my one X to X2 just to speed up my filming 👌

I'd go for ONE X2 simply because of the app. It's quick and easy to upload a shot onto social media.

What a piece of junk, the Insta360 one X2 !! Had I known from the begining that you need to connect the camera to a phone( in my case An Apple Phone because my $1'000 dollar samsung Note 8 that accepts everything refused to connect by bluetooth to this camera. Maybe you should make consumer aware of the pitfalls of investing in junk like this and not so much what a 360 video looks like.....( as far as tools go...) its garbage and can not stand on its own..
