I love the Insta system. My Favorite is the one r. But if I like to film Helmed I take the Wide angel Mod for good Mountainboard rides. If I like to film myself and the Spot, where I am Mountainboarding, I use the 360Stick. I love it.

Excellent, comprehensive review. Best I’ve seen so far. I thought the One R would make more sense but I want to keep things as simple as possible so the X2 wins hands down based on this. One question though, I really don’t like the idea of editing on my phone but have an iPad Pro which I thought would be most appropriate. With this in mind, is the phone a must?
If you want to remote control your ONE X2 then it's easier to do it with your phone rather than ipad out in the field. But other than that you can edit on your ipad just fine.

X2 wins for most uses. One R if you need a one inch sensor or an invisible drone. :)

They both have the same sensors so it makes no difference really 👍🏽
8:51 I feel like Insta360 are not transparent enough on this point. Yes the One X2 is waterproof to 10m, BUT if you want to take 360 underwater footage you HAVE to have the dive case, or suffer terrible stitching, as you correctly pointed out :)
Personally I feel a bit let down, as this was one of my main reasons for choosing the One X2 over the other models when I bought one earlier this year.
Do you think they can correct this with a firmware update at some point?
No - underwater stitching is a very difficult situation. A highly complex problem to solve. Hopefully we will get there in the future

awesome video! thank you! we like to film our bike rides and 4wheeler rides. we are in the desert, so it gets quite dusty. we keep all of our action cams in the waterproof cases cuz of the dust. so right now, I'm leaning towards the X2. if I were to put that in the waterproof case, is it a big deal to move the footage so you don't see the case? what are your thoughts in general in regards to this? would the image quality still be decent? also, please note, we are almost 70 yrs old and we do not get crazy....we are leisure riders both on our bikes and the 4wheeler 😉 TIA for your help!
It will be difficult for you to use the dive case because the bottom of the camera will probably be facing you. So you will see the dive case bottom instead... 🤔

one of my favorite reviewers of insta. More power
A good review, as usual Shanil. I regret buying my One R (before the One X2 was announced) since I have no interest in either the 4k or 1 inch mod, but I wanted a more weatherproof version of my original One X. The main downsides of the One R for me are the "nearly, but not quite" waterproofing of the 360 mod and the not very confidence inspiring fit of the microphone adapter. The weight, brick like profile and go-pro style mounting for the One R also combine to ensure that the camera never reliably stays in position when I mount it on my motorbike, if I ride much above 30 mph. The One X and the One X2 present much less of a profile to the wind and with their tripod screw mount, they stay in place more dependably. With the One R, I also have to make the choice of having either external power to the camera OR a microphone. With the One X2, I can have both simultaneously and the adapter connects securely to the camera. I also don't believe that the modular system will future proof a One R customer. The brain is likely to be the limiting factor in implementing a newer 360 mod with either higher resolution or greater frame rates. If you therefore have to replace both the brain and 360 mod, you are only protecting your investment in the batteries, which are the cheapest component. The one accessory I would heartily recommend though, for either camera, is the GPS remote. That works great for controlling the camera from my bike's handlebar, whilst the camera is mounted somewhere less accessible on the bike. The only downside with the remote is that the battery life is not very good, and it seems to discharge itself within about 24 hours, even if you don't use the remote within 24 hours of unplugging from the charger.

Looking to buy a 360 camera to use on my motorbike and after some research it has come down to the One R or the x2, I am swinging to the x2, mainly because of the profile on the bike. So if you were in my position, would it be the X2?

My Insta360 One R twin edition 360 mode lens always had a fogging in lens after about 10-15 min.recording. also red dot while recording with 4K wide.lens mode. It's a bit annoying since most of my video record for motovlogging

In a nutshell, X2 is still the best 360 camera out there. But ONE RS is better for 4K videos.

With the waist mount, if you use any selfie stick and extend it, and do extreme action sports, it’s likely to crack the plastic mount that holds the selfie stick. Because the selfie stick creates a lever with the camera weight on the end. Soo if there are extreme vibrations than any selfie stick can break 👍🏽
@Best360 ok the mount waist maybe not strong to hold the weight of selfie stick because made from plastick, but on the top question i meant is about your carbon monopod, does it crack when blow wind on waist mount insta360 with insta one x2?

One r version 2 could have a unibody with a side drawer style of battery like the x2.
This way it would also have a vertical mounting 1/4 screw either vertical or horizontal.
Then it would be also waterproof up to 10 meters

Seems like the ONE R has slightly better skin tones. But you can do some colour adjustments in post to make the ONE X2 match

Hey bro, can the One X2 act as a 4k action camera like the One R?
So , obviously - i am thinking to buy one or the other, However the use that i will have for either is both for action camera as well as underwater shots, the Insta360 package does come with the one r diving case for both 360 and regular lense - so i read thta some people stated that the files are huge. I indend to buy a 256gb I v30 microsd, which in theory based on consumption 750MB per minute of footage, give me almost 350 minutes of filming. or about almost 6 hours, Obviously by then the battery will be long dead. Estimated of 70 minutes for both 4k and 360 ( regular size ), i would carry fully charged batteries, so that is not the concern.
The advantage of the X2 in this specific instance, is the larger battery lasts 90 minutes, so not that much longer. Both of the cameras can come with protection cover, however One R seems to have a better setup for the protection of lense, and it is possible to place it into a metal cage, much sturdier.
The one disadvantage is the fact that the one r charging is a bit of a hassle.
Another question is - has anyone tried to use something like Nox to edit with a pc ?

Hi, one remark concerning the mount of the X2 (and X3) that it's more vulnerable during vibrations. My X2 broke on bumpy roads. I'm looking into a replacement and am thinking to buy a R or Rs because of this problem. Any advise concerning this problem? Greetz Ab
360 Video Quality is not as good on one RS unless you’re getting the one RS 1-inch 360 version

I have the one R. The files are huge, consumes all my phone's batery very fast when connected. It takes forever to export files edited on the phone, but the results ar awesome (I'll get a better phone)

X2 is best for 360 videos. One r is a hybrid camera so it’s half good at being a normal camera and half good at being a 360 camera

It can also pair with the instamic and, I would guess, other headsets that can use the same bluetooth profile as airpods (HSFP or something). Look up instamic and insta360 videos to see how.

I just sold my Insta360 with two lens modules batteries etc. They were a pain in the ass to use batteries drained fast etc etc. Less then 6 monyths old only a few times used and lost ⅔ of the value. Buying what I should have in the first place; GoPro
And what GoPro did you go with? I was so close to getting the R Twin cause it seemed cool...but u may have saved me a bunch of money. Any issues with GoPro u regret?
