Still using my original one X, no issues, no need to upgrade and for anything commercial use the Trisio, occasional 360 videos and the old one X does the job
Thank you for the review. I currently have the X2 and was thinking of upgrading to the One R . This video helped me decide. Will be sticking to the X2 for a while.
Thanks for the comparison video Ben! I've had the Insta360 One R for the last 2 years, and I was contemplating on upgrading to the Insta360 One RS. I decided against making the purchase after watching your review. My camera is still in great condition, so I'll continue to use it until something down the road comes along with significant improvements.
I ordered the One RS Core +4K boost…only because I didn’t buy the 4K for the R. My One R hopefully should sell soon on eBay. My RS is sitting in customs in Alaska at the moment…
Solid review Ben, as I will be buying one at some point and was confused between Insta360 ONE X2 vs Insta360 ONE RS, I already own a GoPro Hero 8, so I wanted the 360 shots while cycling based on your recommendation I think the Insta360 ONE X2 is the way to go.
I have a insta 360 one(1st gen) I just saw matterport selling a gimbal called axis and it used a phone. I have a iPhone X. Wich would give me the highest quality for vr?
Thank you Mr Ben for that comparison; was expecting some bigger differences to be honest. On YT videos shot in 360 with the One R (and RS) you quite often see stitching problems, or is it just me? My guess is, it's because the One R(S) 360 module needs to be more square and the lenses further apart, contrary to the X2, which is flatter by design with the lenses closer together and therefore is less prone to stitching hickups.

You just speak the truth and I agree with you 100% except I would hope they would realize their mistake, quickly release the One R 2 that has real upgradability and so they can have sales. So again, your honesty, honor and integrity shine when you stand up like you have. I hope Insta360 watches, learns, apologizes and do the real upgrade soon.

Hey thanks for the comparisons.. would you be able to recommend a action cam suitable for filiming small sided football games?(5 a side) I guess I need one with a really wide angle. Thanks again!
I’m a bit confused here, I have/had the One X2 and I’m struggling to get decent quality from flat video from it. I’ve tried filming in 5.7K|30fps|Standard profile|Auto with a sunny day outside and did the editing in Insta360 Studio exporting at 4068x2880 with 200MB output and even though that’s the best I’ve managed to get, it’s still not great compared to say my iPhone 13 Pro video at 4K. In fact it looks pretty bad in comparison! So my question is, are you saying the One X2 does as good a job filming a 4K flat video even though the single lens has a lower resolution on it? Or if you take the video image from in 5.7K resolution using both lenses and take a 4K clip from it? Are you saying that’s is as good as the RS’s dedicated 4K Boost Lens filming at 4K? I’m returning the One X2 because I assumed it would be way better to get a 4K flat video from a camera lens more dedicated to that rather than a 360 lens where you are essentially cropping the image?

Thank you, Ben, for your insight, as always. I still happily have the original OneX. After seeing this, I will wait for the OneX3, instead of upgrading to one of these three models.
quite amazing review 👌 ben u r great 👍 also i enjoy the video as you edit so smooth 😎 bcoz i buy one rs & its difficult to adjusting 360 view great done man
One thing that got me to buy it though I have the one r with the 1 inch mod was the fact that I can zoom now and the active HDR. I use my One X for 360 video. I bought the 4k stand alone and the core bundle for my 1 inch mod making it now 5.4k. It also comes with a new case which now I will not need to screw the lense off. I also noticed some additional settings.
Very nice video, may I know if I buy the RS, is worth upgrade to 1 inch Leica lens? Less people compare new 4K boost lens and the 1 inch Leica lens on the RS, thx
Which one is good to buy X2 or RS for professional level 360 video and 360 virtual tour shoot and vlogging videos . Pls also suggest option for 360 video by drone while drone completely become invisible.
You mention the RS' Flowstate, and not that the One R got 'quick' Flowstate in November's firmware release. The R does not have to have its files processed in the app, unless you want the higher quality processing. The RS is an upgrade, no doubt, but the R is still a good camera. I'll get RS cores at some point in the future, but I'll run my R cores for now.
Perfectly timed upload Mr. Ben as I'm looking to upgrade from a DJI Pocket 2 - for a mix of action cam use and 360 filming so I don't have to worry about framing at the time of filming. Modular seems the way to go. The Pocket 2 would overheat in 10-20 minutes when filming and disconnect from it's wifi connection to the phone app. Have you experienced anything like this with the modern Insta360 line?
Hey- not really as I usually don’t record longer than 20 minutes at a time. In hotter climates though all of them will have the potential to overheat with long recording times 👍
I know it's not a 360 camera but, Insta360 is coming out with the Insta360 Cube. It's a "Go Pro Session" type of camera and I wonder if you have any insight on it.
Would you recommend Trisio Lite 2 also for outdoor 360 photography? I can imagine advantages of Trisio solution for indoor (e.g. no wind, stable light conditions) but not sure for outdoor. Thx.
Hi Ben.I already own an Insta360 R with 4k, 1-Inch and 360 modules.I always use the last two of them.Do you think the new core can boost the image quality when using them? And what about sharpness and dynamic range differences between new 4k module and 1-Inch module?
Thank you so so so much Ben! Perfect comparison on every single details and as usual honesty (which can be hard to get lately). Even your subtle humour leaves everyone else "in the dust" 😁 Thanks again 📸
I'm so much into shop for a OneX2, but what's holding me back is the questionable product politics of Insta360 in the past.Older products like my OneX have been purposely crippled in features for no other reason than to push customers into newer products, which are not better at all. So I'm going to wait for a X3 I guess.
So much about no new release in 6 months! I have the RS and based on the cost difference of buying the entire new 1" 360 @ $800 or Upgrading for $650, I think it's time to send the RS back, the way they price it just doesn't make the modular nature worth it for my use case. So its either all in for the new 1" or downgrade to the X2 to get something cheaper, more portable, and lighter.
Great video Ben, thank you for being honest 👍I currently have the OneR and you mentioned I can buy pieces of the of the OneRS which parts should I be buying to continue using my OneR? I also have the 1" Mod already along with battery boost for my OneR. Please advise thank you.
Awesome content! I've been debating whether to get One X2 or One RS (I am currently using the Go 2), so i think in long term, I would save 'big' by going directly on One RS since its modular, unlike in One X2 since the 360 lens can't be replaced when scratched.
Yeah, that's my same reasoning, in case I get the 360 lens scratched. But the module is, I'm guessing, going to be $299... cheaper, yes, but not cheap. But the thing is, as of now, they're not even offering that as a standalone thing to buy. Maybe it's because the RS is just released. Edit: But right now, the footage as seen here, seems like the ONE X2 is sharper than the RS.
@@huyked Agree with you, the image quality is just superior in One X2 for the 360, perhaps these can be fixed with future Firmware updates since it is still fairly new as well. Perhaps in time, they'll offer the 360 module separately for purchase (or even as a replacement purchase with a discount if ever). Overall, I'm still sold to the One RS as one-for-all use.
@@kplatagaw Another problem I'm discovering, which I hope isn't in the RS, is that in the One X2, for continuous recording, there is a blank, non-recorded section between video files of up to 20 seconds! That's been reported by this man: ua-cam.com/video/yJ656ulYdP8/v-deo.html I sent a message to Insta360 just 10 minutes ago. I hope I get an answer from them.
Great vid...finally all three cam review 👍 Some reviewers say that the 800$ cam ain't all that, not leaving 360 X2 in the dust, maybe slightly. That they come pretty close and that 360 X2 is made more for action sports. More rugged. Anyway, with that said... I'm on GoPro Hero 7 currently and been eyeballing on 360 X2. The X2 shoots in regular "flat mode" also or is it just 360 footage recording?? I'm gonna shoot more 360 but not all the time and I'm into action sports (DH MTB). Let's say 60/40 or maybe bit more... So...RS or keep my Hero 7 and get X2 as an additional option? X2 and RS use the same editing software or is there a specific for RS? One important 350 future also...how is the stitching on RS? It was bit of an issue with R because of the cam thickness (when U r closer than 2-1,5 meters) To my understanding X2 shoots from both lenses....how does the RS shoot? It looks like the lens is in a dome on just one side
It really bugs me that my OneR has terrible sound and the RS isn’t much better. Because of the sound I want the DJI action 2. So my real question Is when Insta360 will figure out the built in microphones and how quality adapter for external are done.
Hello Ben. Thank you for your updates on insta360 lineup. I am using my original insta360 one X and so far happy with it. BTW, no mention on whether the insta360 one X owners should consider upgrading or not :) Also, can you please review the labpano products as I am interested in GSV supported cameras most. It is sad that insta360 ONE X2 and newer models and app does not support it. Any alternatives you may suggest? Go Pro MAX? Pilot One (EE)?
Ben: Thanks for your "brutal honesty"; irrespective of it I did get one even though I have the I360 R; I've got Camera GAS, what can I say! :0))). BTW I love my ONEE X 2 for no other reason than the bigger screen for my aging vision; a One X3 will be on order when one comes along. I've got serious GAS! :0)))
I had oneR and it broke down. Insurance company asking me to replace with OneX2. I asked them for OneRS but They ask for extra money. What should I do? I still have 360 lens. Thanks
Ben, i don't own any so m not upgrading...hence, which 1 wld u recommend for video on a bicycle RS or X2? appreciate your feedback. ps. the audio is better on the RS then X2
@@robertkribs9513 i'm leaning towards the x2 but rumor has it x3 will b out this yr. from what I have read, x2 has better 360 over rs and the only + for having the rs is the 1" sensor mod
@@princeT-369 I wonder about waiting for the X3, too. Do you recall where, or how accurate that conjecture for a release this year is? And which month? If you can point me to the source, I'd love that.
@@huyked sinta360 wont tell u so its pretty much an educated guess based on previous release so, the x2 is over a yr old n it's due for an upgrade. it may come or it may never but if u need the x2 or rs just buy it cos wen the x3 comes out u can always trade in although u will lose out on initial purchase price but u get to shoot some cool freaking shots. i hv already ordered my x2 n I will trade in as soon as the x3 comes out.
@@princeT-369 What you say is true. Now I just gotta make up my mind if I want the X2 (sharper video, and seemed to have more grass detail), or the ability to replace damaged modules (lens).
How do you feel about your predictions now Ben with the release of the Insta RS One Inch 360? :D Also thanks for this, was considering upgrading my One R to the X2, but now I think I might just upgrade a few accessories and wait for the X3 :)
I had/have the one R but just got the X2 because I got sick of all the crap I had to carry around with me. Vertical battery, normal battery, both ulanzi cases, 3 lenses etc etc. I instantly noticed that X2 was way better than my one R. Not sure if it’s just the preview being better but it’s much easier on the eyes. All in all I prefer the x2. The device, the screen and from what I can see, the image quality are all way above the one R. IMO. Looking forward to the x3. Hopefully 45-60megapixels stills on a one inch sensor and 8k video.🤤🤤🤤 it!d be rad if there were one that opened up and turned into a miniature drone. 😍😂 that would be fkn epic. All for less than $200 too 😂☹️
I'm very confused lately which one to buy out of x2 and rs. But I finally go for x2 since its much slimmer, fit perfectly in pocket and little cheaper and quality is slightly better than rs for 360 videos. For normal 4k video I'm expecting to use my iphone 13 with gimbal .what do you think of my dicision.
@@IdeasInfinityTVyeah, good one. Phone camera technology is also evolving faster than all other dedicated camera companies. You really don’t need much more these days. I got the 360 cam because I wanted a 360. I have 27kg of camera gear already so the idea of getting a compact action cam/360 ended up being an extra kg that wasn’t part of the plan and I found myself spending more time packing all the tiny pieces and accessories than my main camera bag. X2 is camera, selfie stick and you’re ready to go. Simple.
I've just ordered the RS yesterday and after seeing this video, I still think it was the right choice. I was using the Insta360 EVO, until it fell on the lenses. I will probably miss the VR180 3D mode, but I don't want to wait until there comes a better one, if ever.
One R claimed 5m waterproof, but in 3m it got damaged. Repair out of warranty in India was equal to the new purchase. The Core of One RS is costing Rs.21,000, where I can get the new One RS at Rs.29,500. Where the company is indirectly encouraging to buy a new camera instead of repairing or buying one single half.
For years Insta360 keeps selling the same camera again and again and again instead of actually innovating and coming out with truly different product with proper upgraded IQ and better/bigger sensors. All the enthusiasm and interest I had in 360 gear has faded away to nothing. This is a stagnant market segmentation with products that have all become lame and thoroughly boring.
I'm glad I saw this, definitely getting the one x2 since I'd need it for solo trail riding videos, works as a first time buyer, but I doubt I'd buy another for several years due to lack of innovation, and reason I won't buy a gt onewheel, I just have to wait for the mods to come out and what is currently my xr will not be an xr anymore, and it will surpass the GT by a longshot. No point to buy into corporate bullshit
Great video I still own the original R1 Twin edition which is still going strong

Hey Ben! For that One X3 camera, what features would you like to see in it?
Bigger sensor, more accurate colours, higher photo and video resolution would all be welcomed 😁
What is the predict time for one x3 launch?
Sir for 1st timers vlogging on a budget , 360 x2 more than enough for motorcycling and trail bike?
quite amazing review 👌 ben u r great 👍 also i enjoy the video as you edit so smooth 😎 bcoz i buy one rs & its difficult to adjusting 360 view great done man
I can buy insta one twin kit 120€ less than RS. which would buy you? Thanks for your reply and for your nice video
Just an observation, the new one, rs has a halo/glow effect to it from the window. Are you sure all lenses where cleaned before the test?
amazing video 👏🏾
One thing that got me to buy it though I have the one r with the 1 inch mod was the fact that I can zoom now and the active HDR. I use my One X for 360 video. I bought the 4k stand alone and the core bundle for my 1 inch mod making it now 5.4k. It also comes with a new case which now I will not need to screw the lense off. I also noticed some additional settings.
Very nice video, may I know if I buy the RS, is worth upgrade to 1 inch Leica lens? Less people compare new 4K boost lens and the 1 inch Leica lens on the RS, thx
Yes definitely, 1-inch quality is better especially in low light
Which one is good to buy X2 or RS for professional level 360 video and 360 virtual tour shoot and vlogging videos .
Pls also suggest option for 360 video by drone while drone completely become invisible.
any huge difference in video quality between insta360 one x2 and insta360 EVO?
Can the 360 one r lens be used on one rs? Please answer
No
I would just like to know which one suits me more between the x2 and the RS only for the fact of portability on the head and chest
Thanks Ben, Awesome video. If I can get the One R twin lens kit for only $50 more. What one would you get?
I bought the insta360 RS twin edition, no comment about this, its great.
Would you recommend Trisio Lite 2 also for outdoor 360 photography? I can imagine advantages of Trisio solution for indoor (e.g. no wind, stable light conditions) but not sure for outdoor. Thx.
It would be fine in non windy conditions with little movement
Do you mind sharing a 6k cinematic sooc footage of the 4k mode for download?😁
Hi Ben.I already own an Insta360 R with 4k, 1-Inch and 360 modules.I always use the last two of them.Do you think the new core can boost the image quality when using them? And what about sharpness and dynamic range differences between new 4k module and 1-Inch module?
Thank you so so so much Ben!
Perfect comparison on every single details and as usual honesty (which can be hard to get lately).
Even your subtle humour leaves everyone else "in the dust" 😁
Thanks again 📸
Very good video
Why is it only for insta onex2 , one RS and One R? What happened with the One X.
Some of them are, check shotlab to see what’s compatible with One X
I'm so much into shop for a OneX2, but what's holding me back is the questionable product politics of Insta360 in the past.Older products like my OneX have been purposely crippled in features for no other reason than to push customers into newer products, which are not better at all. So I'm going to wait for a X3 I guess.
Yeah but when do you think they will release a one X3?
@@Flonic the day after he finally buys a new 36” camera 😂
So much about no new release in 6 months! I have the RS and based on the cost difference of buying the entire new 1" 360 @ $800 or Upgrading for $650, I think it's time to send the RS back, the way they price it just doesn't make the modular nature worth it for my use case. So its either all in for the new 1" or downgrade to the X2 to get something cheaper, more portable, and lighter.
I have the same iMac you have, 27 inch. I still like using the GoPro Player and the GoPro Max.

Great video Ben, thank you for being honest 👍I currently have the OneR and you mentioned I can buy pieces of the of the OneRS which parts should I be buying to continue using my OneR? I also have the 1" Mod already along with battery boost for my OneR. Please advise thank you.
I am still using the original One X and I don't see a reason to update. And that's worrisome for the consumer 360 camera market.

Another problem I'm discovering, which I hope isn't in the RS, is that in the One X2, for continuous recording, there is a blank, non-recorded section between video files of up to 20 seconds! That's been reported by this man:
ua-cam.com/video/yJ656ulYdP8/v-deo.html
I sent a message to Insta360 just 10 minutes ago. I hope I get an answer from them.
GoPro Max, insta RS+360 or Insta X2? Only 360 photo and video.
I'm new to the whole action camera. Should I get the one r or the one rs?
Watch this video for the answer 😂
Great vid...finally all three cam review 👍
Some reviewers say that the 800$ cam ain't all that, not leaving 360 X2 in the dust, maybe slightly.
It was bit of an issue with R because of the cam thickness (when U r closer than 2-1,5 meters)
To my understanding X2 shoots from both lenses....how does the RS shoot? It looks like the lens is in a dome on just one side
It really bugs me that my OneR has terrible sound and the RS isn’t much better. Because of the sound I want the DJI action 2. So my real question Is when Insta360 will figure out the built in microphones and how quality adapter for external are done.
Yes, One X3 with 8k video and 12k photo would be very nice for my Quest2 :)
Your experiment is quite interesting, I hope you give some tips about onex2 camcorder
Please more details for photography
Such as? Like I said I do not recommend these cameras for photography when there are much better options out there.
I had oneR and it broke down. Insurance company asking me to replace with OneX2. I asked them for OneRS but They ask for extra money. What should I do? I still have 360 lens. Thanks
Take what you can get, all are good choices
Ben, i don't own any so m not upgrading...hence, which 1 wld u recommend for video on a bicycle RS or X2? appreciate your feedback. ps. the audio is better on the RS then X2
I have the same question and after this video I am thinking RS. Let me know if you decide first
@@robertkribs9513 i'm leaning towards the x2 but rumor has it x3 will b out this yr. from what I have read, x2 has better 360 over rs and the only + for having the rs is the 1" sensor mod
@@princeT-369
I wonder about waiting for the X3, too.
@@princeT-369
What you say is true.
Simple.
3:05 you owe that coffee that i just spit..
I've just ordered the RS yesterday and after seeing this video, I still think it was the right choice.
I was using the Insta360 EVO, until it fell on the lenses. I will probably miss the VR180 3D mode, but I don't want to wait until there comes a better one, if ever.
There is a VR 180 version for the one RS
It was made for drone footage but with an Accessoire it can be used as vr180 dual lens.
Why not 360 one R for virtual tours?
Because there are much better options
One R claimed 5m waterproof, but in 3m it got damaged. Repair out of warranty in India was equal to the new purchase. The Core of One RS is costing Rs.21,000, where I can get the new One RS at Rs.29,500. Where the company is indirectly encouraging to buy a new camera instead of repairing or buying one single half.
one x2 has steady cam mode, the R and RS do not have this feature.
Damn right. Gopros doesn't care about their costumers........ Wait
Maybe one day we will get a 360 1 inch camera 🤔👌
That day was 2 years ago with the Theta Z1 😉
