In 1978 I was an 19 year old ATAN in VP-6. Today I am 63 and still working on the Orion. In a few weeks I will be crossing over to the P-8 with the kids in VP62! What a beautiful life! I want to thank everyone that made it possible it’s been more than I could have ever hoped for.
I flew aboard in vp-5 us navy as aircrew ordnance man for 5283 hours, and fell in love with the aircraft as it was so reliable. I am proud to see it is not being retired after all, as it would be a very sad day! Thank you for what you are doing!
Good to see a classic get reborn. My middle brother was aircrew during the early 80’s. I maintain to this day that my brother and the P-3C is what got me into aviation about 40 years ago.
Hey! I worked on these for the US Customs Service in Greenville! Scott, Kim, and Mike the sheet metal guy, I miss you all. Was in the Composite Shop working all the ECS ducting and quadropod stuff!
The Royal New Zealand Air Force begrudgingly bought our new P-8A Poseidon ASW aircraft to replace our P-3s, but the 60 feet above sea level in hurricane Search and Rescue missions the Orion kicks the Poseidon's backside, the 737 chassis isn't designed to fly that low. Our new Super Hercules will most likely take over the low level SAR role in the Pacific
That was a great little film, the P-3 always makes me sad though since its purpose is the same as the what the Nimrod MRA.4's would have been. Yes the USAF/USN has some world class aircraft, but that upgraded Nimrod would have been the best maritime recon. aircraft in the world (based on the fact that the old MR1/2 were right up to their retirement), cutting it was an horrific waste of money, the UK needs an aircraft to fulfil this role and the damn thing was already flying...
I know that our RNZAF p3 Orion fleet are about 30-40years old they had a major refit and upgrade about 2yrs ago. They are to be replaced with the more technologically advanced P8 Poseidon aircraft...
Sorry diegomifits666, Argentina didn't get these, another country did. My Dad is working on them right now, but he can't say to which country they belong. CLASSIFIED
Andrea, if it's classified, then he, too, is restricted. It's on a need to know basis as to whom the information is obtained from--unless, of course, he's the man calling the shots. For all we know, you're full of hot air.

gladdens my 76 year old heart to see this. Keep up the good work guys. it's one hell of an airplane.
My squadron flew the P-3C out of NAS Barber Point HI back in the late 80's I get nostalgic every time I see one.
Awsome job to all involved keeping these beautiful aircraft flying. 👍

the uk should get these!
Interesting video as far as it goes. No discussion of the upgraded mission system?
that is cool!
Taiwan beefing up. Good. Very good choice.
The fuel tanks other located on the
belly of the aircraft or in the wings. I was wondering if the wings were not
strong enough?.
just how long does it take to get an aircraft from the boneyard and turn into a refurbished aircraft, how about with F-16s or F-18s?
Could this upgrade be applied to an Electra?
in use by Pakistan Navy for maritime reccon & anti-submarine role

Vp-4 barbers point Hawaii 96-2000 engine mechanic (AD)
I think Canada got these
What dies this cost?
Ho much can i buy one for?
VP-31 & VP-40 78-83, VP-65 88-99
Affordable? Shit, I better win me a lottery or two to get one.
maybe 4 lotteries. Annual maintenance is expensive too.
@@myonlynick Just needs to be a few million here or there. Proper investments afterwards and keep her going.
Well a frowny face would be absurd.
@johnnyboy12498 Haha.
You can't buy a new P3, you have rebuild them. Or you can buy a brand new P8 from Boeing lol
