    Wonderful aircraft. I was in VP-50, 48, 19, and 31 and have 7 deployments. 6 WestPacs and 1 Med.

10 points for the first person to correctly say what the Flight Engineer meant when he said "4's good" at the 2:50 mark.

+douglas747wct Flight Engineers don't set four. That was the observer setting 4. The flight Engineer was starting the engines and setting take off power (he set normal rated power). +10 points to me! ;-) 10 points to you if you can tell me what normal rated power is on the mighty P-3.

Nope! Something different was going on... Power on the P-3 is determined by many variables: reduced thrust, press temp, etc. At S.L. 15 deg C 100% rated power is 4080 SHP... And you missed why the guy said 4's good... :)

The pilot calls for the observer to set four after take-off to do a visual inspection of the inside of the plane and as best as possible on the outside too, to see if everything is still good to go once airborn.

Ok, nobody caught it. If you pause the video at the 2:01 mark you can see that the #4 generator was not on line, as indicated on the overhead panel. When later on the FE/ Observer says 4's good, it means he was able to get it on the buss.

+douglas747wct sorry my friend but thats wrong. It har nothing to do with the generator, you cant even see the gen switches on the overhead panel during the takeoff. And the observer/fe is not the same person. The guy talking in this video is not the fe, so he wouldnt know anything about the gen being offline anyway
