- Join us on a day trip to Hallstatt Austria, in this walking tour of the top place in Austria to visit. This Hallstatt Austria 4K Video was filmed in the run up to Christmas 2019 and gives a sense of how beautiful a Hallstatt Austria winter is.
Hallstatt sits on the shore of the Hallstätter See in the state of Upper Austria in the Salzkammergut region. People have been living in the area since prehistoric times, and it's known as the birthplace of the early Celtic people of the Iron Age.
How to get to Hallstatt from Salzburg? Hallstatt lies approximately 80 km southeast of Salzburg. It takes 1 hour 15 minutes by car, 2 hours 15 by bus or 2.5 hours by train (with a short trip from the other side of the lake.)
How to get to Hallstatt from Vienna? It lies approximately 300 km from Vienna and will take around 3.5 hours by car, or 4 hours by train.

I live next to Hallstatt and the crowds or the 2 hours of tourism is really a problem for the residents because privacy is no longer present. Imagine you have 50 people around your house who inspect every step of every step or just in or in front of yours Stand house although you only want to enjoy your life in peace and as every day of the year it is stressful because you have no more minutes without strangers
I can quite imagine that to be so Claudia. Our close friends who also live close by also echo the same.
So do you not want tourists to visit at all or just be more respectful
@@cherylcronk1786 the main problem is the masses of mainly Asian tourists who can behave loud/disrespectful. In high season Hallstatt sees 7000 tourists A DAY. That’s a lot for a village of 800 people, the signs on the garage doors say “no drones“ and “please be quite“ in multiple languages. I do feel sorry for the residents.

Hi Meow, Austria is one of Europe's most wooded countries. Characteristic are the hardwood forest (oak, beech), the mixed forest (beech, fir) and in higher altitude regions fir, larch and pine.
