The door frame looks really good! Per my husband, you can take wood glue and mix it with the saw dust to make a paste and use that as a filler.

If you machine cutter has a collection bag for the wood dust chipping you can mix them with a little filler more wood then filler and put it into the gaps and it will be more like the wood colour then varnish or stain x

Hi Kelly the doorway is beautiful! If the wood filler does not stain perfectly you can take Wood markers and match the stain color and pattern perfectly. 🦋
Kelly- minute marker 16:00 regarding the wood filler- it definitely is not neutral; the darker the stain being used, the more it stands out. I put up a faux beam at the entrance to my dining room. I wanted a "used/worn" look, so I intentionally kept the stain lighter. It's slightly noticeable, but something I can live with. Like yourself, I was just happy to have something aesthetically pleasing that also divides two rooms. Keep up the great work! 😊

You can always try a pre stain wood conditioner - it will help your stain go on better and reduce the blotchiness. It’s an extra step but prob really helpful when using that type of project wood.
The doorway looks really cute Kelly!! What a transformation! It was the space so much warmer. Maybe try the next one with no woodfiller? Or even stain the wood prior to installing them?
Love it, when I use wood filler I apply it on with a wet wash cloth easier to spread. I wipe away all the access wood filler that goes on top of the wood just leaving it in the cracks so less noticeable when staining you only see a faint line. Love your channel!!!

Looks beautiful, Kelly. A little tip with wood filler: mix some of your stain in with the wood filler, fill area, wet a bit and sand (first with 80 grit then 100 grit), then stain over piece.
You go girl, i still like that small shelf in your kitchen. If i may, while your staining, if its to dark for you, wipe off the stain. Brush on whip off.

I am always impressed 😆 at how much you do with imPRESS nails on. You just do all the things. I wear imPRESS nails and feel like I have to baby them. That doorway is stunning. 🤩
Kelly talked about this a few weeks ago. She said scuffing her nail surface and inside the tips too makes them stay on better.
I was watching another creator (destinylashaemakeup) and she uses nail dehydrator and layers three kinds of gel also. Base gel, top gel, and one more I can't remember. Plus uses a UV light to dry. Look in her videos (not her shorts), she has a tutorial. She said with her method they last 3 weeks 😊🦋

The doorway looks amazing! Forget the imporfections they blend and the wood takes the stain differently all throughout the panels so it looks fine. Somewhere down the road you may want to paint them and it will be gone! But what a transformation. It gives such a nice look and feel to your kitchen and laundry room. Great job!

Try adding a little bit of stain to the wood filler before filling your holes. And yes a butter knife works for a lot of things, I use one all the time.
I always put stain on with a brush and wipe it with a rag. It makes a big difference. Still looks beautiful!!
Gorgeous! I did this to my entry way in my mobile home from my living room to my dining room. Mine goes to the ceiling as you mentioned and I just nailed the wood straight to the ceiling and I LOVE it. It has the same feel and look.

Girl I love it. Nx time use some cheese cloth and wipe it as soon as you stain the wood and u will get a total diff look. I use stain a lot. I love staining more then painting. But it turned out amazing. Have a fantastic wk hun. 💜💜💜🦋🦋

You could do like Merina on fearfully created,she did a white wash over the stain and that would lighten it up and probably cover the cracks, either way it turned out great. 💞🦋

Great job! Just a tip. Stain your boards first, and buy one of minwaxs wood filler that is the same color as your stain :)

This turned out great. I am repainting a shelf and my daughter’s cube shelving. You are an inspiration. I have a few projects to do within the next 2 months. To include painting 2 rooms. And while I wish I had help, I know I can do it myself I& I chose to. Keep it up Mama you are doing great. 🦋
If I'm not mistaken, they make paintable wood filler. Might be more expensive but would be worth it. But I would just skip that step next time. I think it would look just fine. I love the stain color. 🦋 🦋 🦋
Kelly if you take and paint the wood filler first and feather blend with the wood close to the stain your using, it blends better

🦋 I loooooove this! I'm going to do this in my house! The place where I want to do it doesn't have a door and on one side it goes up to the ceiling so I'm going to make it maybe four inches lower on the side with a wall: enough to attach it to the wall but also enough to make it look like a solid beam.

🦋 now I want to do my doorways the same way, such an upgrade. I really dislike how mobile home doors look cheap. I have plain hollow core doors and want to do something to make them look less cheap looking.
🦋Beautiful! Could you build a faux beam over your doorways..build a 3 sided box..add a piece of wood across your doorway and screw that 3 sided box over the wood? I think Andrea from Pine and Prospect Home did it in her house with barn wood. Looks great!

Try going back on the seams & sand off all the filler till it down to the bare wood it will look much better.but it will also be a pain unless you have a elc sander
You might be able to put the stain on a cloth instead os a brush to wipe it on and wipe some off so it’s not so dark for you but it looks great x
Hey girl, you need a sander. I've worked with wood for years. You're not sanding enough of the wood filler off. You should only have filler in the cracks only. Hope this helps.

Hey love! Great job here. I flip furniture and I know that wood filler doesn't take stain, my solution is to get some saw dust and mix with wood glue. Boom holds stain :) hope this helps

Love the faux beam door way! I had the same thing happen with wood filler so I no longer use it either. I find putting stain on with a cloth tends to go on lighter than when I do it with a brush. Thanks for sharing! 🦋
