I’ve always loved Kim’s playing, he’s definitely one of the most unique players to come out of the grunge era and the guitar definitely sounds awesome. On a similar note, I’ve been rewatching a lot of Fluff’s Recreating Album Tones videos and now this is making me want a recreation of Kim’s tone on Badmotorfinger or Superunknown because his playing on those albums sound so damn good

Cool. My first ever electric guitar was a Guild solid body SG from the 70s my parents bought me for a birthday. It was used, had a bigsby dual humbuckers skinny neck and a phase toggle switch. Had to buy myself a polara. Not the signature but the standard. Has become my preferred guitar. Love it, great quality, super comf neck. Can't stop playing.
I just got mine yesterday. It isn't an SG. SGs are smooth whereas this Polara is dark and dirty. Even the clean tones sound dirty to my ears. A great instrument. I can definitely see how the Soundgarden special sauce worked - Chris's brigher Gretsch with Kim's dark and dirty Guild.
I only started learning how to play guitar a month ago & I'm documenting my journey on here but I'm looking forward to the day when I can play this well!

I'm unsure if I want to buy the new one though since it is an import version. How's the fretwork on it, Fluff? Is it sharp or anything? If it feels fine then I'll probably get one at some point.

Sounds great. Thanks. A pity the Guild bits on the headstock are such a cheap spray-on vs classic Guild inlays or even the DeArmond MIK inlays. Also bothers me that the only Soundgarden/Kim symbols are on the plastic bits that screw off/on; more effort could have been there. I have always wanted a Guild Polara but I feel this "tribute" falls a little bit short. Good guitar but a D for effort as a tribute. For the price a few inlays would not have hurt as it ain't cheap for a far eastern made guitar.
I have a Guild S-200 Thunderbird guitar and I absolutely love the thing. Guild are so underrated. I don't really dig the SG shape, but I can recommend Guild guitars for anybody who has never used them. The best way to describe the vibe of holding one is a weird Gibson/Fender hybrid.

Looks like just the US model ($7k!!!) and the import ($900). Think I'm gonna trade in my Red one for the KT model...basically the same with a phase switch. Seems like a good reason to swap1

I've now built exacting replicas of Kurt Cobain's competition Mustang, his Jaguar, and the sonic blue In Utero Mustang (sorry Fender, your "replicas" of those guitars sucked as far as being replicas go), as well as Slash's Kris Derrig Les Paul.
I got the email announcing this from Guild yesterday and lost my shit. My biggest gear regret was selling my red ‘99 S100 a few years ago for an amp I barely use anymore

I was mythed cause I was looking for 1 the last 4-5 months & all of a sudden retailers where saying they where discontinued. But now I see why. Its great they are priced what the previous models where. Well .. the usa limited white ones are I think I seen like $8,000 ? I think the funny part of this Ryan is your limited edition signature guitar launched yesterday when these did. Kinda ironic if you think about it thought cause of that seattle connection thing !! ha :)

After playing my Les Paul Custom for 2 weeks straight on tour, I decided to play my S100, out of the blue. I literally threw it AT the case after and never played it again. Still, love guys who play them especially Puny Human.

I had a DeArmond S67 which was essentially a 7 string version of this guitar. Super stoked to see this one come back.

Kim's playing is like a cross between Tony Iommi and J Mascis.
Honestly, this was long overdue. He should have been given a signature model a long time ago. Glad they did it, regardless.
