    It does sound great, and I'm happy G&L have brought it back but I think a good chunk of Rampage enthusiasts want a Cantrell spec'ed version.

    Dope video Fluff. I'm not a fan of the G&L Rampage at all. Never have been. I played a few in the 3000s. They ripped and felt great to play, but it's the single pickup for me. It's a purely aesthetic thing. If someone digs the single bucker, I'd definitely recommend.

    Random curious question. How do people get along with no tone pot? I've gotten to the point where I have to actively manage my tone unless I want to change my amp settings every guitar. But there are a couple guitars I've always wanted (like the Rampage and the EBMM Axis w/Eddie specs) but I'm afraid, haha.

      Not to sound condescending but you just plug it in and play lol. I haven't had a guitar with a tone knob in decades but when I switched, I realized a lot of what I used a tone knob for could also be achieved by subtly adjusting the volume knob. Ymmv.

    • @nickgjenkins
      @nickgjenkins 3 місяці тому +1

      @@borafett3005 I just don't feel like that works on my LP with Burstbuckers. And in a mix I'm trying to balance out frequencies but still keep a certain bite that I lose by pulling volume down to compensate.
      I'm not saying you're wrong (far from it). I'm just saying maybe I've learned to use it and now it's kind of a crutch. Especially live when I'm switching to different types of guitars for different songs.

    I hope people realize a Kahler version is coming soon. There's a fair bit of alteration that needs to be done before that one gets released. People also need to understand the Floyd Rampage is the original concept - I don't recall if this is an old Leo design like the Espada, or if this is more recent. Regardless - this is the original concept and plan. The Kahler version has been in the works before the Floyd was released, but the engineering for the Floyd has been all worked out already.
    Things to consider:
    -The Kahler has a different footprint. Floyds to strats, Kahlers to Jazzmasters.
    -The Kahler is going to require the pickup position changed. Still has to be 25.5" scale, so adjustments are necessary.
    -The neck pocket is a different depth than the Floyd.
    -The Kahler is not being countersunk. This is so the the hardtail lock can be used.
    -G&L is a manufacturer and business - like Ford, 3M, or anyone else. They are just as susceptible to hurdles and technical problems far bigger entities encounter.
    I'm left with the impression that people who say "this isn't rocket science" don't understand how variations can have drastic alterations to a design. An F150s 5.0 and a Mustangs 5.0 might be the same base engine, but there are some key differences (for further examples, look at the 3.4 V6 in the Tundra and the 3.4 V6 in the Lexus LS500).
    Have some patience, this isn't artificial scarcity or a company not listening/considering what people really want. This is logistics, this has been planned and accounted for. It'll take some time to work things out. Things happen that can back things up.

    Honestly all these single pickup guitars look very similar to each other with their boring finishes and color palates. Take the logo off and it could be a Kramer, Jackson, ESP, Kiesel, Slick, maybe a BC Rich Gunslinger (if you squint)? Some guitar manufacturer needs to bring wild finishes, graphics and colors to this style of guitar.

  • @BXGuitars

    My issue with this guitar is for the price, the back cavity is unnecessarily big. I know some might see this as nitpicking, but at $2300-2500, I feel they could have not taken what feels like a CNC template and applied it. I know the original was larger as well but I don't think quite as big. Why all this to house a volume pot? As far as the pickup, I will defend G&L and say their stock pickups are really underrated. Once again though, a case would have been nice at this price point. Another upside is G&L uses a real Floyd (not a 1500 or special) and the Sperzels are a nice touch (although if you're upgrading to 24 frets, why not locking tuners guys?).
    It's nice to see G&L are making some attempt to advertise now because they do make great guitars. They just need to burn all the Caribbean "Rosewood" and go back to using a species that actually looks like Rosewood. Luckily for this one, it's either ebony or maple.

    • @chris_2714
      @chris_2714 3 місяці тому +1

      Agree mostly with what you said but the locking tuners aren't necessary for a FR equipped guitar where you have the locking nut. Just adds unnecessary weight for the small benefit of faster string changes. Not worth it, but maybe it is to some people.

    I've never played a Kahler equipped guitar, but from the sounds of it, I wouldn't like it. I hate guitars where the strings sit very close to the body, probably due to all of the guitars I have with ABR-1's, and my offsets with pitched back necks for better break angle at the bridge. When I pick up a guitar with a recessed Floyd or something, I feel like the body of the guitar is getting in the way of my picking hand.
