You know Wayne these companies needs to pay you a lot for these Videos.. I have over 20 medico, and Mult-T-. Locks and I'm grateful to have watched your videos. I take these locks to Africa to use them on my home, but for the past, I have had so thought over purchasing these locks from Ebay.
I installed the exact same lock for a client yesterday. The back set is adjustable you just need to push that pin in and pull the back of the bolt out and change it inside but you probably know this by now.
Please can you guide me which lock is the best for the apartment doors? Multi T lock or Bilock or there is some other lock which you think is the best?
Wayne Winton - when you say ASSA, which lock are you referring to? I want to replace the cheap Schlage on my apt door. I was thinking of either the MulTLock MT5+ or an Abloy. Also going to install door jamb reinforcement and hinge covers.
This was a fantastic instructional video to watch as I recently prepared to install a Mul-T Lock. Thanks so much for the excellent work you are doing (from a teacher). By the way, as for the problem of needing three hands to install the lock by taping the keyed side of the deadbolt to the exterior of the door. Using painters’ tape secured the lock and protected the paint on the door. Thanks again!
the backset is adjustable .. you have throw the bolt into locked position ... then push those little buttons on the bottom of the bolt housing and slide the bolt out the backside ( in a motion away from the faceplate ) .... be aware of 2 medium ball bearings inside) then you move the black piece one step towards the faceplate into the closest spot .. (also, the ring clip holding the black piece into place spins around the bolt making way for you to move the black piece closer ) .... making it 2 3/8 ... then slide the bolt back in until the little button on the bottom clicks back into it's little hole on the bottom of the bolt housing and viola .. now the bolt housing will fit into the hole and will unlock and lock with the hole needed for the tailpieces in the center ... hope this helps .... my lock smith told me not to put the ball bearing when installing the hex screws or I won't be able to take out the lock if something goes wrong,,,Is he jerking me or it is a true statement,,? I'd put the ball bearing in and I was able to loosen the hex screw anyway,,that mean I am able to disassemble the lock , right? In the future if lock is broken then I won't be able to take the old lock out? I have to replace the whole door? I am confused, thank you ahead for your advise...
mr wayne i am a locksmith tech in las vegas , TOP MASTER LOCKSMITH The back set is adjustable you need to pull the pin out put the letch in a lock postion and it will slide back
If you're renting I wouldn't recommend making your expensive lock(s) permanent. Unless the owner/landlord/manager made a deal with you so you're reimbursed for the cost and the lock(s) become(s) property of the home owner.

Would be really nice if somebody did this move on youtube. A new lock is very stiff and I've had a lot of difficulty getting it shortened.

He's just lazy, ball bearings protect from drilling the screws, a very common method used to defeat locks. Install them
