The DMH-A240DAB is a nice device - unfortunately with some weaknesses in the firmware. The device often hangs when you play music via Bluetooth, the clock is automatically set via the radio and very often gets the wrong time, which cannot be turned off. The clock therefore very often shows the wrong time.
Bluetooth itself is very weak point of this device. It acts like a cheap BT speaker, no way to switch connected devices from the radio, poor voice quality and no way to set microphone gain. BT media is always connected even when you output radio, so phone output to BT device. The SBC mode has extremely poor quality.
Where do I find face plates for my car to go with one of these units? I have a 2009 ford focus zetec and I don't think the current faceplate will house this unit
I don't recommend this device. Or anything from Pioneer after I found how they care about their customers. When I wrote them about issues with this device (some potentially dangerous, but solution would be possible with a simple firmware update), they just replied that it's all in specifications - even though I'm not alone who complained about some of these issues. Issues I found: Multimedia player cannot skip folders Bluetooth audio has poor quality if SBC codec is used. Ok with AAC. It doesn't show whether phone is connected anywhere except for "phone" menu. Sluggish navigation in the contact list, no rapid contacts Poor microphone reception, no way to set gain. With power off, Bluetooth is disabled too. If it's connected to turn on with ignition, it turns on everytime, even if it's powered off with power button. Button backlight is very bright and without dimming option. Weblink app asks for connection every single time and that cannot be turned off (if you want to use the USB only for charging, for example). Weblink alone is hassle to use.
@@blankedsoul6890 Bluetooth handsfree. Call must be received by onscreen touch button, which is somewhere in the middle of the screen. Other radios can receive a call by tapping a physical button or at least put important onscreen buttons to corner, so there's no need to look at radio. Hansfree should allow receiving calls without diverting driver's attention. That's the point of handsfree systems. Also, lack of favorite contacts, default phone screen being a number pad and no indication of Bluetooth connection state make the handsfree feature pretty useless. Another problematic part in terms of safety is lack of a dimmer for buttons with combination with a large "home" button. It is not good idea to have bright light in view during night. Best part? 4 year old Pioneer HU with same MSRP had none of these issues and more features.
@@V8AmericanMuscleCar you're welcome. I was really disappointed by this unit and I'm happy if I can save anyone from the same experience. FYI, I happened to get a second hand MVH-A210BT, the predecessor of this unit - in terms of features and user experience, it's miles ahead of this unit, although it lacks on media formats support... Knowing that all the things I complained about were solved on the previous model makes the new unit even worse.

You didn’t touch on the phone mirroring I’d really like to see that working
As a former owner, I'd also like to see it working

Quality unit for that price too !
@Adrian CV not a fan then? I’ve not had an aftermarket head unit since my Kenwood stealth/mask one 20 odd years ago 😂
@Adrian CV agreed. It's GUI is really poor and handsfree almost unusable.

@Adrian CV any other radio you can suggest?
I'm sorry to say, but the background music is very annoying
