This is literally the first video I watched which actually shows how the android auto works. Every other video I've watched...which is over 20 by now, only mentions that the head unit has both apple CarPlay and android auto capabilities, but NEVER shows the android side of things. Thank you!
Exactly what I've found also. I mean 70% of phones these days are android. 🙄

Hiya I'm currently abit confused.. do we have to use our phones to use UA-cam and Maps or is that installed on the system and ready to use by tapping it on the screen.. please clarify as i was gonna buy one
It doesn't run apps directly. Android Auto and Apple Carplay both allow you to use a limited set of apps from the phone on the head unit. So it always uses your phone to run the apps.

Hello, I am getting ready to buy this pioneer and I have a fundamental question whether it will fit the alfa 159? The horns for the radio in Alfa are with an arc and here I see full angles.

Is it always necessary to connect the andoid phone to the unit with an usb cable before i can make a wireless android auto connection?
It seems like it's for the initial setup.
you can use the cable on setup initially or go through the wireless settings, once setup you don't need the cable for connectivity

I have this unit and it will only allow me to use android auto with the USB connected. Have done exactly what you did in the video but cannot get android auto to work wirelessly. Any ideas?

Go into android auto on phone
Go to settings
Scroll down to version
Tap version 10 times to access developer mode
Scroll up and tap the 3 dots at top right
In developer mode select Bluetooth projection
Restart phone
Wireless AA is sorted 👍

@@katarzynakaminska7418 Okay, but the inputs from my steering wheel (Corsa D), is giving other/wrong inputs to my radio. Ex. "Next station/song" on the steering wheel gives me volume down on this radio. Usually Pioneer has a setting for calibrating steering wheel controls. What adapter do you use?
How do you turn the volume up?
With the + button on the left of the screen.

This one has wireless Carplay and Android Auto, the DA160 only wired.
OK so this is the one. BUT can I fob off the "warning if you look at the floor you may crash!" screen every start up? If that's an enforced thing i'm not buying it - its an aftermarket unit - we know....

Why is the UI still so daaaamn slow and ugly.
I bought a Kenwood radio 6 Years ago, nothing really changed besides some wifi features.
If they don't up their game, they'll get overtaken by Chinese Android units.

Yes both of these are bought separately. The echomaster rear camera and autoleads digital aerial were my choice.
Got this unit but it keeps crashing and rebooting any ideas what could be cause.
I bought this unit and it is coplete rubbish don't buy it.
Some of the problems I have with it.
1. Navigation voice in android auto glitches, it doesn't say complete massages. It's really annoying, and I have no idea how to fix it.
Zero help from pioneer customer support....
2. It is slower than my PC from 2004...
3. Only 5 colors for the buttons no chanse to match the car interior lights
4. Cheeply made in every single way even the wires are rubbish
5. It drains battery like crazy
6. The microphone is awful
7. No menu for dimming the display by preset timer...we drive all day with headlighs, so this option doesn't work ...
8. It is ridiculously expensive for what it is
My advice DON'T BUY IT!
Is it possible to connect Android auto wirelessly AND have your 'phone' connected? If I connect to Android auto my phone and Bluetooth symbol greys out like yours? Is there a way round this? maybe via wifi or something? Thanks

Yes but you need a steering wheel control adapter specific for your car. In general these can be configured for the head unit brand.

I really don't like the on-screen volume control. Do you know whether you can add an after market volume control knob?

The harness that comes with this unit, do I need to connect the car speed signal wire in order to use car play or other features? It’s the pink wire, can I blank it off?

Hello @Cas tv, I bought this unit, because it has GPS Receiver, my car has double shielded windows, and GPS in phone just doesn’t work. When I connected gps antenna to this Pioneer, it shows a lot of satellites and good signal, but it cannot use this signal in apple carplay/maps etc. It keeps pushing phone internal gps which hasn’t got signal, how this should work?? For example apple maps via carplay and internal unit gps with antenna signal.

Android auto apps use the GPS antenna. The date and time are also set automatically thanks to it.

@@kwalnaaimaar5050 I do have one. I have gotten it to work by connecting the cables in another order. Pioneer told me that some models are sensitive in such a way that it matters.

Hello, thank you for the upload!! Will the reverse camera automatically pop up when the car is set to reverse? My Suzuki Swift and the standard multimediasystem pops the camera up when it’s set to reverse, so I hope this one will too?
Yes it will. I have this unit in my 2006 Corolla for about a week now, and it will show the camera when you put it in reverse!

its worst, a lot worst than the 250dab,if you are "upgrading" dont, is not an upgrade, its a downgrade.

@@mertcapkin7263 because i owned both, and the da250dab is x10 better than the 360, 360 has a ui that looks beta, slow and laggy, many audio options aren't available, no rgb colour changing, no video output setup.. no spotify app (only available with Android auto)...2v rca pre (sphda250 has 4v) all these i mentioned were available on the 250. only thing 250 doesn't have is wireless car android/Apple.

just got this unit.... wow.. how embaracing this is... coming from the SPH-DA250DAB is a big Big step back, UI looks like a beta sw.. very few audio settings, no spotify app other than the Android auto one, no rgb color selection, no reverse cam video settings (no PAL/ntsc selection).. 2v rca output... jeez.. slow and lagghy UI.. Total mess. Im returning it superquick.

@@SIG_333 damn sad to hear, i was looking at the 360 because it had wireless CarPlay instead of wired. But if it is slower than the 250 then idk anymore. I’ve heard there is an adapter that lets you do carplay wirelessly, I think I’ll get that with the 250 then.
