I'm critical of Quebec's power and role within Canada similar to JJ but I'll suggest one big thing that Quebec gets right - the school system. It is my understanding that in Quebec high school ends after grade 11 instead of grade 12 in the vast majority of North America. This allows students who don't have much interest in official post-secondary education to get out a year early. 12th grade is often pretty wasteful even for those who do go to university/college anyway. Then everyone interested in higher degrees goes to the Quebec equivalent of a community college for a few years instead of straight to a university. Only the last 2-3 years of a bachelor's degree is earned at a traditional university. This sounds like a very reasonable and cost effective system to me. By contrast Ontario has a pretty bad school system. For many decades they had an unnecessary grade 13 in high school. Even though it was officially eliminated shortly after the turn of the century, it is my understanding that a not insignificant minority of teenagers still hang around high school even after grade 12. Ontario stills struggles with the difficult political issue of taxpayers funding Catholic schools but not other private schools. Growing up in Metro Detroit I met many Canadians from Ontario and they typically spoke rather poorly of that province's schools. If we hate the EU so much it would’ve made more sense to force change upon it. The issue itself had divided political parties more so than ever. Both the Labour and more so Tory parties saw a split of pro and anti Brexit factions. The former of which now runs the country to our dismay, as they are all the younger MP’s within the party whom have little experience in governance. Good example of this is Matt Hancock whom is the Minster of health. Now when he was appointed this job was rather small by comparison to say Home Secretary or Chancellor. Low tax rates aren’t popular. But nationalism is. If Maxine Bernier won the CPC election the Tories would easily win. Basically preservation of culture and support for the citizenry’s well-being. Or so they claim. Conservatives lose when they cannot deliver. Which will always happen.
@@ashkitt7719 I mean, low taxes are pretty popular with conservatists AND so is nationalism As for Trump, we're talking about Canada... In Canada, conservatism is a negative thing and if they SHOW their conservatism, they don't get elected but like you said, all they need to do is often let the liberals fuck up and just slowly walk their way in Most of the time, they don't need to do anything to win at all and Scheer is an example right now: when asked about questions on public transit, abortion or anything, he just answers '' we will let the provinces decide for themselves '' and since it's indeed provincial domain, it's a free win for him to just not propose anything... Also consider the possibility of a Charlottesville-like Nazi rally based around wanting to protect statues of John MacDonald and waving the Red Ensign, aka Canada’s answer to the Confederate Flag. I really don’t see Trudeau winning. So many Canadians hate Trudeau it seems. Go on r/metacanada and the comments of National Post articles and see what a lot of Canadians believe. Guy quits his job. He says he’s going to apply at some other companies. Says he’s pretty confident that he’ll get a job in time to pay the bills. When he goes to a job interview, the interviewer says “I’m offended that you would suggest that it’s my job to make things easier for you after you made the decision to quit your last job!”
Hey J.J. I only recently discovered your channel while searching for (of all things) a good debunking of the so-called "Mandela Effect". I'm pretty well hooked. Your speaking style, along with your thoughtful, and very well spoken nature is super appealing. Thanks.
Watching you laugh so genuinely was really nice since you’re usually so put together and serious feeling
Edit: it feels like these days I am not supposed to want to be famous, and yet I very much do.
I’m a new subscriber and I didn’t expect JJ to be a conservative
Hey J.J.! I saw that you are interested in travelling in the Balkans and experiencing new types of culture. If you eventually come,I recommend you to also visit Romania.Want to see how bad roads really feel ?Come here.Want to learn and make a video about the ...."special" political situation of Romania?Jokes aside, here you can find the melting pot of latin, slavic, greek, dacian(indigenous people),hungarian (a sprinkle ),german and french language and culture. The history of the country is interesting because 70% of it the struggle of the romanian people to survive and keep their culture alive. The food here is great (but it's a nightmare for vegans)
P.S. :Forget about Dracula
Grigore Lăzărescu Balkans is great. But Romania is not a melting pot. The others are.
@@iMonsieurAnthony I know that the Balkans are a melting pot,but Romania is too!If you hear a conversation in Romanian,we will start with some slavic words, continue with rare dacian words, french and then turkish.
These are very informative, thank you. Being a Finn, I did know hockey and things like that, but your takes are offering insights and viewpoints that are not generally available on this side of the World.
_"I guess you could say that my indifference is itself, kind of a revealing statement of my opinion of Britain's place in the modern world."_
As an Englishman who voted to remain, this sentiment from non-Brits is *exactly* what I was worried about. We behave like we're still an international empire, whereas what we actually are is a dysfunctional poverty-riddled provincial nowheresville whose primary function these days seems to provide private schooling for future third world dictators. I guess somebody has to do it, might as well be an otherwise irrelevant land like Britain!
Thanks for airing your thoughts on Brexit.
JJ are there any Canadian conspiracy theories just like there are millions in USA?

I spent half of one of my teenage years in young offenders (prison for kids) for returning a stolen camera I had found while cleaning up after one of my house parties.
I spent my "sweet 16" in jail.
6 months for returning stolen property. My advice to anyone who finds stolen property, destroy it and pretend you never saw it.
I once was a "good person". Until I was punished for it.
Bruh I can't believe you'd snub Nevada like that, why won't you annex my state supreme leader jj?!
12:55 broooo you forgot about Australia and Antarctica

My ten states would be
Alaska
Vermont
Minnesota
Washington
Oregon
North Dakota
Montana
Idaho
Wyoming
Maine
I feel like these would make the most sense geographically.
Why is everybody ignoring Wisconsin!?!? lol
I feel like strategically the west coast New England and Alaska would be the best choices (not sure if that is more than 10)
@5:22 You suggested that Wikipedia is not a reliable source. When I was in graduate school in 2017 @Texas State, we were not allowed to use Wikipedia. Some claim that it has an anti-conservative bias. What is your beef with Wikipedia?
Anyone can edit Wikipedia that's why it's not 100% reliable. Though it's citation section does give links to some good official sources
Can you do a video on the Doug Ford effect at a federal level?
I think you find this interesting. My aunt is the former US Ambassador to Botswana. If you ever want any trivia I can ask her and send it your way.

Question: What's the coolest province to travel to from the US?
Probably, Quebec since the rest of Canada is very similar to the US.
Dont listen to that guy...yukon in the spring, very hippy. Interior BC all summer. Kelowna!
Thank you J.J for giving me a better view on English Canada and Canadian Political Commentary. Thank you for uploading videos in the first place. From Oregon, I thank you
If Canada were to take any state from the US it should absolutely be Alaska.
THEN THE NORTH WILL BE OURS!
Alaska and Greenland. 🇨🇦🇬🇱
@@AfroAsiaticLanguages
But we (USA e.g., me) still haven't traded Puerto Rico to Denmark for Greenland, so it's not a state yet, so you can't take it from us.

I feel like the first step in journalistic integrity should openness about your biases. Trying to pretend like you’re unbiased is inherently dishonest.
Brexit: in 1975 the British people only voted to enter a free trade area / common market, not a customs union. In other words, Britons were never asked to join a customs union, from which is what Britain now wishes to retreat through Brexit. They were pushed into a customs union by British governments without any political mandate.
