Large Braid Crochet Pumpkin
Вставка

- The Crochet Braided Pumpkins are designed by Mikey using Red Heart Super Saver Ombre. Tabletop fabulousness for fall. There are 2 designs and the large design has 2 versions based on an error that our tester, Wendy, did. Her error turned out to be an awesome idea.
Wendy's error version is actually in the black/gray version where she misunderstood the back post double crochets and made them front post double crochets instead. Her error really frames through braids beautifully and I thought, OMG, I love it!

I made 2 of these, mainly because my co worker wanted the one I made for my desk so I offered to make her one. While waiting, she received permission to have mine on her desk - we’re calling it the ‘emotional support’ pumpkin now… 😆. Thank you, Mikey, for the great pattern and tutorial! Another winner!
The most beautiful crochet pumpkin I have seen.
Thanks Ewa.
Never seen one like this before , it is beautiful ❤
Mikey you are an amazing artist. Prettiest pumpkin on UA-cam!
Do you really believe that? That's really neat to think you could be thinking that.
This is the prettiest crocheted pumpkin ever. Mike, you're an amazing crocheter, designer and tutor. Don't worry about too much fibre stuffing. After some cuddling and squeezing of the pumpkin, the stuffing will shrink a bit, believe me. I love this challenging design. And thank you for the pattern and diagram too.
Love this pattern. Super cute and unique looking pumpkin, as I have never seen cables done for pumpkins before! Love that idea!
I do have one suggestion. I had massive holes where the stuffing was showing through on the first decrease round (round 32). So I went back and, for round 32, instead of skiping the framing posts, I did my FPDC around both the post and the side posts of the braids together.
In other words, for Round 32: SC, HDC2tog, FPDC first framing posts and first post of first braid together, FPDC next 2 posts of first braid
FPDC next framing posts and first post of middle braid togeather, FPDC middle post of middle braid, FPDC last post of middle braid and next framing post togeather
FPDC first and middle posts of last braid (separately), FPDC last post and last framing post together, HDC2tog, SC
Repeat for each braid section.
So cute and can’t wait to make a few. Thanks
Very pretty! I’m making a little pumpkin right now and will make many pumpkins from your pattern. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you ❤ this is a gorgeous pumpkin
You give great easy to follow instructions and I learned more about reading a stitch chart
Thanks for this wonderful pattern and excellent instruction! I wish I could share a photo... it turned out so cute! I ran out of the color I was using & had to finish with a darker shade, which I didn't like. But being on a time crunch (the party is in just over an hour!!!) I couldn't go get more yarn or start over. But then you said we could flip it over, and that totally solved my dilemma! Now the darker color just looks like a shadow on the bottom. Perfect. ❤
Life is yarn. The rest is just details. Thank you for a great tutorial!
Ever notice how some crochet is “just crochet” until it meets Mikey’s Magic?!
Very spicy tutorial. 😂 great minds! Thanks for the pattern Mikey! It’s always fun crocheting with you.
I just started crocheting recently and I love watching your videos! Can’t wait to make these!!
I like the hot spice . Haven't found it around my home yet.
That stem ribbing is brilliant!
Thanks Gail.
This was an amazingly fun and beautiful project!
Thank you for the design, best on YT!
Tip: I felt that there was a bit too much gaping in the top of my pumpkin final rounds- so I solved it by changing the last rounds to half doubles.
It helped to thicken up just enough. Could be my yarn choice.
I was using from a cache of Big Twist Chunky Natural - used a 6mm hook & it took 1.5 skeins.
Looks so posh and modern in this with a very Aran feel. Goes well in a country, modern country cottage, boho decor.
I plan to make it some partners in other companion colours in different sizes and styles.
Oh- I also used Jimmy Beans Wool little bites ShibuMaai in pollen for the stem twists- and 3 cinnamon sticks bundled for stem.
You never disappoint Mikey!! I love this pattern and an ombre yarn makes it even better. Thanks a million! ❤
You are so welcome! Thank you for the sincere compliment. Have an amazing day.
Love these braided pumpkins! So different. This is the first time I’ve really wanted to make a pumpkin. Thanks Mikey.
Hope you enjoy. Happy fall to. you.
These are the cutest pumpkins I've seen yet. So sweet!
Thanks so much! 😊
I've been looking for something to crochet....I've just found it! Thank you for the tutorial Mikey.. I love that you explain the stitches, great for beginners of the stitch and also to refresh non beginners who haven't used the stitch in a while.. I'm looking forward to making my patch 🎃
Glad it was helpful!
I absolutely love this pattern! Thank you so very much!
Had never heard of doing the beginning like that I love it. Thank you so much Mikey!!!
You can do hats the same way. It's called a Magic Ring or Adjustable Circle
Mikey, these look fantastic! I have some leftovers and will make a few. The braiding just takes it up a couple of notches. Thanks for the pattern.
So pretty! I can’t wait to try this pattern!
This pattern is amazing! Mikey you are so talented and funny. You have pretty much taught me everything I know about crocheting all the way back to years ago when i first began. Thank you so so much! I love you!
Thank you so much! I am honoured to have shown you a few tricks.
OMG these are awesome!!! I love this pattern!!! Thank you!!
I just adore you!😊 I love how you break things down. I'm currently in Row 8 and the way you describe it MAKES SO MUCH SENSE! Thank you a million times. Because reading the , (skip the next stitch) is so confusing. 3 sets of 3, for the win!❤🎉
Hey Mikey, I love your work. Thank you for taking crocheted pumpkins to the next level! 🎉
I love what you do! You are very very favorite crochet teacher! You are amazing! Thank you so much! I will be making these for sure!!
Thank you so much! I try. I don't always succeed but there's a ribbon for trying right!?
I just finished my second one. I absolutely love this pattern!! Thank you! 🎃🍁
Love this pumpkin. Finishing is creative choice with stem & vines. I say, there are no crochet police!, so do your own thing.
Absolutely.
Thanks for the great tutorial Mikey! I just finished mine and it turned out cute. I used the Hot Sauce RHSS ombré for the pumpkin and Caron Simply Soft in Bone for the stem, it’s a light tan color and looks like a dried stem
Glad you have this tutorial up. It’s a gorgeous pumpkin. I will watch the entire video but I just HAD to skip to the stem portion first. After watching a certain live video I wanted to see how the stem portion turned out in the editing. 😄
I edited it out the knotty stuff. :D
@@TheCrochetCrowd I see that you did. That took some fancy editing. That was wonderful watching you do the tutorial live. I love this pumpkin. Thank you for all that you do!
Oh my! These are beautiful!
Thank you! Cheers!
Amazing pattern. Thank you for this video. It was so much easier to follow along.
Love!! I just followed along and made one also!! Thanks Mikey!! 💜
Wonderful!
Wow 🤩 This is an excellent video. Very clear. I plan to make one soon. Thank you.
Now that I’ve watched the entire videos- I’m not sure I have the skills or patience to make one. But perhaps I’ll try. 😮. Thanks for the great video and all your hard work putting it together.
Great tutorial! Thanks…. Yes I pack yarn first….
only way to do it! haha
The ombre colors look great. Now I need to buy yarn :)
Yeah it makes for a very interesting look.
Gorgeous!!!!! Thank you sooo much for sharing!!
Thank you! Cheers!

A very intriguing pattern! Thank you for the tip on closing the magic circle! A well done video will be looking at more. Ps you have a very calming voice.
You are so welcome! It's my pleasure to show you.
Adorable pattern!
I LOVE these! I wish I hadn’t already made a whole patch, I don’t have room for any more.
That's a great problem to have. Least you don't need any more. :)
Love this pattern!
Love this pattern. Definitely something I NEED to make. 🎃

Oh, wonderful!!!
Ty Mikey beautiful
Aaa cok güzel olmuşlar ellerinize sağlık 👍👍👍👏👏🇹🇷
Rica ederim. - You're Welcome.
I have made 3 of the large pumpkins, relying on help from the tutorial. I couldn’t have done them without it. I would love to make a few small pumpkins using a tutorial. Will there be a tutorial for it? I have started a small one a couple different times, but I don’t feel like I’m doing it right.
Yes you said it the name of the grey correct, it is a type of coal we use in South Africa I don't know were else in the world its used
Ah... I wasn't sure. Thanks for telling me.
@@TheCrochetCrowd my pleasure 😊
👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I’m not sure what to do. I love these pumpkins, but there’s a couple differences in the printed pattern and the tutorial. The one I’m dealing with now is the repeat of rows 12-15. The video says to repeat 3 times, the pattern I printed says to repeat 12-15 four times for rows 16-31. Which way is correct?
He said to repeat it 3 times after doing it once, for a total of 4 repeats, as in the written pattern. :)
Edit: Ok, I finished the 4th repeat and am on row 27... So maybe just add another repeat for a total of 4 repeats, so you do rounds 12-15 5 times. That's what I am going to do, as that gets you to round 31.
I’m confused by this as well, even in the video though it says repeat 3 times, it then skips to row 32 (when it would’ve been row 28)... I’ll probably also just do an extra repeat to fix it
There is also a mistake between video and printed pattern on row 4. Not sure now if I should go on, looks like there are a lot of mistakes. :-/
Do you think additional repeats in the middle section will fit? I need a taller pumpkin. Thanks.
I make sure the yarn is packed before anything else.
That makes you a great crocheter.
Mikey when Is your fall book coming out I am interested in getting it so I can practice your braided pumpkins and I don't sell patterns I share the you tube link video. I do bazaars and I wanted to ask permission from you as you created the pattern.
Maybe I missed something but after you repeat rounds 12-15 three more times, wouldn't you then be on round 28? To be on round 32 you would repeat 4 more times, not 3. Am I counting wrong?
I have always packed my yarn first if I don't have a to go bag ready
Good stuff! Makes you great!
@@TheCrochetCrowd using up scraps to make dog bed
Would love to have bumblebee pattern is there a pattern for it
Yes. It’s a free pattern. Go to our website and put in search crochet bee. It’s there.
There is a discrepancy between the video and the written pattern on Row 4. The pattern states "1sc in the next st. 2 hdc in next st. Skip next st ,3dcfp around next st. Skip next st. 2 hdc in next st. 1 sc in next st. This tutorial says to do 1 dcfp around each of the next 3 stitches. Does anyone that has completed the pumpkin know which set of instructions is the right one?
Follow the pattern if you are following it.
I am confused. Regarding rounds 4. 6, 8 etc the pattern says to skip. The diagram does not show this nor the tutorial
hi Mikey I'm looking for
crochet horn of plenty pattern ...I am writing it thru here cause I don't know where to leave u a message at...
I don't know if one exists like that. If you need to reach me, you can come over to my website and put in the search, contact. Our email will pop up. I don't know any designs for the horn. I''m sorry.
Is it just me but, row 4....has skip next stitch .....video doesn't?
I agree about row 4 and row 6 and 8. Pattern says skip a stitch but tutorial and diagram does not show this. I am confused
What did you end up doing ?
