Here are some links to yarn you might like to use for your variegated base yarn. I am an amazon affiliate, so I may earn a little bit if you choose to buy from this link, but it doesn't cost you any more. If you can find a better deal on these items elsewhere, I always encourage that.
Oooo this one is Red Heart Super Saver and it's called Fall. It's super pretty but also there are lots of other color choices including two of the ones I showed in the video called Camo and Artist Print

I absolutely LOVE this! I'm in the process of finishing mine up now with putting the stuffing in it. I didn't do 3 strands tho, I used 2 strands one single color & one variegated color & I added 4 extra rows & it turned out perfect so far! Thank you so very much for sharing this! This is my favorite pattern from the whole year!
Beth you just made my day! ❤️
@@GinellCooper I'll post a pic on the FB page when I get done. 🙂
Yes! I am so excited!
@@GinellCooper I just posted it. Under Melanie Green...
@@GinellCooper I'd like to know what you think of the leaf part please. Thank you!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who buys yarn that I think looks cool but then can't figure out what to make with it!!
You are definitely not alone on that one! I have a closet full. 2nd only to "what a great deal! I should buy all of it!"
I enjoyed your video. I am self taught and it's because of people like you that have helped me on my crochet journey. I cannot thank you enough. And I love your process. You are brave with your creativity. I'm OLD school. We were taught to follow rules and directions. There was no space to be free. But now, I'm trying, and your video showed me it's okay to mess up - try something different. And most importantly, don't be so serious and hard on yourself. See! You taught me that! THANK YOU!
Mary Ann, I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! If you watch some of the others on my channel you will soon see that I don't really follow the rules anymore and although I often will follow a chart I find now and then, I can't remember the last time I followed a pattern. I used to though and it often made me so frustrated because my creation never turned out like the one in the pattern no matter how much I tried to follow it to the letter. Then after crocheting with a friend of mine who works her yarn very tightly, I realized that she and I could follow the exact same pattern and come up with completely different results just based on how loose or tight our stitches were. That opened me up to crocheting by measurement rather than stitch count and after that rule was broken, I started working outside the rules all the time. It gave me complete freedom to play. Often my projects are just mental exercises to see if I can do something. It's fun and it keeps my brain young right? That's what I keep telling myself 😁. Welcome to the channel ❤️❤️❤️
I don't know how to give a heart, but I'm giving you a big heart and hug! Have a wonderful day!

“Eeek, so many ends!” that made me laugh out loud. It was exactly what I was thinking.
Lol 😂😂😂
I love how you show your process instead of having everything planned out. I feel like your tutorials are more real and are similar to my own. I’m a new subscriber and will be watching your channel more often.
Oh I'm so glad you can relate. Welcome to the channel ❤️
You be you bc the pumpkins are adorable. Thank you for sharing your skills and ideas with your utube fans. 🎉
Thank you Brenda 🧡
These pumpkins in a basket with some crochet Indian corn would really be nice fisplayed through Thanksgiving.
I love it! Great idea 🧡🍂
I loved your pumpkin very whimsical. but ,you know what I hate? I hate when people come on to your channel and tell you how to run your channel. If they don't like it they can just hop to another channel. As you said it's a journey have to have fun. Plus it's free content.
Thank you Lillie! I agree. And I'm glad you like the pumpkin ❤
Agreed! Whatever happened to "if you can't say anything nice.." That said, I think this idea is aborbs! ❤❤❤
Extremely cute and instructive. You are not only showing how to do it but how you came up with it. Thank you!
I'm so glad you like it ❤️
I just made a pumpkin from watching this video. Thank You, wonderful Real video, not all on the floor from being edited. This is your idea and talented people do not have to have a prepared plan. My dad would say this video was off the cuff. Got an idea Run with it. This was a fun video to watch and then do. I did add some of my own ideas, but without this video I would never had made my u neck pumpkin. They are a one of a kind. Again Thank you. I will be watching your videos, I believe this video is going to increase your subscribers. I always use plastic bags for the toys that will not be played with. I also spray then with waterproofing. They can just be whipped clean. This has been so much fun.
I am so glad it inspired you! Thanks for watching 🧡
Well, I love your journey and I love that you kind of fly by the seat of your pants and do your thing because I think it’s also represents that you’re able to problem solved on the fly. I like that because we might run some of those same problems if we’re working and now we know how to fix it.
Thank you, it feels like more of a story doesn't it? Crochet drama 😁
Stay just as you are!Love the pumpkin! 🥰
😊🧡🧡🧡
I WATCHED THE WHOLE THING, JUST FOUND YOU. NOW I AM RELAXED AND READY FOR BED. THIS IS SOOO CUTE. I LIKE THE WAY YOU DO THINGS GINELLS..HUGS
I love that you loved it. Welcome to the channel ❤️
I am also one who appreciates seeing the process. You acknowledge your difficulties and give suggestions. Too many edit their videos too much. They leave out the tiny details that I need to see. I've been crocheting, sewing, and embroidering for approx. 60 years. Knitting for a few years less. All self-taught. When I finally was able to see that there are errors in written patterns, I began using them only as a guide and finally had success. I prefer making it up as I go. But no matter the method I'm using, I always have difficulties thanks to my constant companions: ADD, dyslexia, fibro & arthritis, astigmatism, and general perception difficulties.
PS - thank you, also, for the idea of using plastic bags for stuffing!!! You mentioned a project using them you'd been putting off. If it's crocheting rugs, my sister has done that. They're wonderful to walk and stand on!
I have always struggled with other people's patterns. I could never get the gauge right and even though I would undo and redo over and over it was still way bigger than the pattern and I was sure it was all me. ...and technically it was...except it's all of us. The chances that a person's tension will be the same as the author of the pattern are small. So I started doing everything by measurements rather than stitch count and that sort of gave me permission to do all of it my own way. I too like to see people work their way through mistakes. It teaches me not only how to do it right and why not to do it certain ways, but also how to explain it to others. You definitely have some challenges to deal with but I bet it makes finishing each piece even more satisfying. ❤️
I think it looks better than the original version. Thanks for sharing your ideas with us.
Your pumpkin is 10X’s cuter than the hobby lobby one!
Thank you ❤️
What a great idea! I love projects that use up scraps. Not having to weave in ends is a bonus!
Yes! And a number of comments on here have suggested making the ends into the stem which could be fun too ❤️
I love love this punkin. The why you explain it is very easy to follow. And I have a hearing impairment. So it's hard for me to hear..( listen, and understand what people say). But your voice is so pleasant and easy for me to hear and understand. My god bless you, and thank you for making this pumpkin video available to us for free. I try to help other people learn to crochet, most of these women are on a very tight income. So I always tell them Free Videos are available.
Gloria, thank you! You make me so happy. All of my videos and patterns are free and you are welcome to share them with anyone who needs them. ❤️
I like the hint about saving my scrap bits of yarn to stuff with. I'm a very frugal person so I try to save everything and reuse it that I can.
I've also used plastic bags for stuffing and make carrots. A couple years ago for Easter on. I made a lot for friends and gave away. Stuffing gets to be expensive. But those plastic bags work real good. And you don't see all that white and I like that? Cause I try to use the darker colors. Brownish Gray color plastic bags. Thanks again, my God, continue to bless you.
I love the way you do your videos. I know this was an older video, but honestly, I was thinking.......if I were to do a crochet UA-cam channel, I would be like you. I would just be talking and I work through it. Love this pumpkin!
Thank you! I have a new pumpkin pillow video coming out this week and I definitely work through the obstacles on that one in real time too.
I love all the colors. Very Autumnal. Instructions were so clear. I may be making pumpkins.
Ironically, I am crocheting and knitting my own pumpkins while I watch this. You have inspired me to make scrappy styles with my leftover variegated yarns, so my pumpkin patch is still growing! Peace 🌻🎃🧶
I love that! 🍁🦇🍂
I’m the one who watches and says , “Alright, I can do something like this!!!” I LOVE the way you work it out as you go along ❤
Kinship in crafts! 😁 ❤️
I have a little pair of pliers I use to pull needles through tough places. This is really cute.
Oh good idea! I know I have some from my beading days somewhere
I do that, too. My finger prints are wearing away (raised 4 kids and now I'm old) so I'm losing my grip! 😂 (on needles, anyway)😂
Loved working this quick little pumpkin. So much fun! Only used two strands because three was too hard on my hands. Also, crocheted a stem instead of twine but used same leaf pattern. My colors were orange & yellow for pumpkin, brown for stem & green for leaf. Stuffed with Polly fill. Adorable! Thank you for sharing the great pattern.
Thank you ❤️ and I'm glad you like it
I really like the way you combined stitches. Very well thought-out! -- it's important, artistically, to be able to change plans when the muse strikes. Thank you
Thank you ❤️
You can also leave some single strands of twine out, wrap them around a pencil, hold in place with tiny plastic bands, spray with a little water, let dry, then remove the rubber band and pencil~ little corkscrew dried vine bits 😊🥰😍🤩
I love it ❤️
I LOVE watching the madness of the creative process. It makes the project much more accessible, for me anyway. As you're talking through your process it's also giving me ideas for how I want to make the project my own. Love it 👍
That's awesome! I remember when I stopped feeling like I had to follow other people's patterns to the letter. I always thought they knew something I didn't. When the project started looking wrong or different I told myself to keep going, they must know something I don't. I can't tell you how much yarn and time it took for me to give myself permission to go off pattern and do my own thing but as soon as I did....complete artistic freedom! If I inspire you or anyone to do the same, then it's all worth it ❤️
I love you doing your thing and not panicking if it doesn't seem to be going the way you wanted, at some point if we crochet much at all we are going to have to adapt, overcome and improvise
I enjoyed your tutorial
Thank you and keep on keeping on
I really love this. Using up scraps of yarn to make a cute pumpkin!!! Thanks. 😊
❤️🎃❤️
Love ❤️ the look of this pumpkin. So cute! Thanks for explaining every step.
Thank you! It's still my favorite 🧡
So cute! Love using all the scraps 👍🏻🧶🥰
I love that you wing it! Gives all of us ideas of how to wing in real life! thanks for not having it all figured out in advance.
Life would be boring right? ❤️ You get me!
I'm glad you weren't phased by her comment and unsolicited advice! I thoroughly enjoy your way of creating. Keep them coming! 🙂
Thank you Michelle❤️
Hi there. First time viewer here.
I just wanted to say how much I love watching people who are creating something and making decisions as they go along. It’s the way I like to work too.
I’m aware that some people like to have an exact ‘recipe’ for making something, and then they follow it to the letter.
But there are others who like to start with a rough idea or who have seen something they like, then rummage around to find what they can, and make something useful or beautiful.
All different sorts of people and all different ways of doing things - let’s celebrate the difference and enjoy what we like. Yey!
Beautiful pumpkin and wonderful idea. I’m going to make some for my grandchildren 😊
Thank you 🧡 Well said
Gorgeous!!!!
❤️🎃❤️
I like it. I know how to crochet in theory but have never really made anything I just know the stitches my mom taught me. But I know I can follow this and make it. Very well explained. I've tried other videos but this is the one that I can follow best. Thank you for sharing. It brought my confidence back to try and take up crochet and remember my mom.
I'm so glad you feel inspired! I have a number of beginner friendly videos on the channel you might like too. Also there is a playlist of one minute videos that teaches one stitch at a time.
Absolutely wonderful!
❤️❤️❤️

I love the journey, and the pumpkin!

So adorable!
❤️🧡❤️
Absolutely adorable. Going to have to try this
🧡
I just love the colors of this pumpkin. Something you might like is "wired twine", it is awesome to wrap around a pencil and you get curly tendrils. I bought at hobby lobby. Try it.
Great idea!
Cute! New project! Thanks for sharing.
🧡🎃🧡
Absolutely gorgeous pumpkin. I love this one the best.
Thank you 🎃❤️
These are so amazing...Can't wait to try this!
I'm so glad you like them! ❤
That was fun. Can’t wait to try one
❤️they are addicting
Creativity is usually very spontaneous 😊. It’s like quilting…unique and one of a kind. No two are alike regardless of the pattern you use. No one else has one just like yours 😊.
❤️❤️❤️
I love this pumpkin! Your process is just fine with me. I tend to wing ideas myself. Where there is a will there is a way!
Thank you, I agree! ❤️
❤️❤️❤️ your process!!! Do it your way!!
That's right! I am here for the journey
Love this pumpkin
🧡🎃🧡
Love the stem. Here's an idea...once you start twisting it...use aleenes craft glue while twisting so the twine stiffens and stays twisted. Once dry, trim and add additional glue to cut edge and let dry. 🙂
Great idea. I haven't had any issues with it coming untwisted but it's good advice just in case
@@GinellCooper Liked the video. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. - New subscriber 😁

I love this pumpkin…I made some with you last year but I always struggled with the stems. I can’t wait to try this one!! I also really, really love the thicker fabric created with the 3 strands and the scrappy look!!!

You did great. I like seeing it real.
Thank you Lisa! ❤
This is just beautiful! Nice job!
Thank you🧡
Clever! Really like how this turned out.
🧡🍁🧡
I am having such fun with this! I tried it with a single strand of yarn, alternating black stripes with a variegated yarn, and it turned out great! (I used a base of 15 stitches... wanted a quick project... so I did 3, 9, 3 for the second row). It is in my video from October 3. Now I want to try black with Retro Stripes. Since Retro Stripes has a longer color change, I'll probably have to go full size for that one.
I would love pictures! Post them on the Facebook group at Ginell's Quarantine Crochet
Wow, you’re a good teacher.
