Here I am at four something in the morning learning to crochet a pumpkin.
Your explanations as to when to count a stitch and when to not use that stitch were so welcomed. I've been following crochet tutorials for ages and not once has anyone thought to show the stitches the way you do. The correct way to count the stitches and the exact place to put the crochet hook in the back "pearl" looking stitch made it seem suddenly so easy.
Thank you so very much
I am the exact same way! I agree with you, she opened my eyeson the correct way to do crochet!
~Julie.
We used to make those back in the 70’s glad to see them coming back again
What would be the chain/row amount for medium & large pumpkins?
Erica! You are amazing and a life saver! I am a teacher and needed an idea for a project for students during our schools first time doing "School Without Walls". I will be teaching students how to create your crocheted pumpkins! This gives me the opportunity to teach high schoolers how to crochet and end with a finished project. I love your creativity and style with both your crochet projects and your quilting projects. Thank you for sharing your wonderfully beautiful projects!
Thanks 6:12
I just followed you step by step and I can't believe how easy was. You are a great teacher I ever thought I could crochet any thing other than a Grandy square.😊
did you just use the video or did you buy the pattern? I just ordered the yarn to do these. So cute
I love not only how beginner-friendly this is, but also how forgiving it is to small mistakes. I love my little pumpkin guy
I have watched a lot of tutorials on crocheting and I have to say that your explanations are the easiest to understand. I thank you for that as I am a beginner. I love this project so much and will absolutely follow more of your projects. Thank you so much!!!!!!
your explanation is so easy to follow. Thank you. Super cute pattern.
I have been wanting to learn to crochet forever! I think (fingers crossed) with this tutorial, I can learn! Clear and concise instruction for a total newbie like me! Thank you!
I love these and can't wait to make some!! I make a lot of amigurumi and generally when making something with stuffing you want to use a crochet hook that's smaller than the recommended size on the label. This is so you don't have big holes and your stuffing won't show through. The size does vary based on yarn and personal tension. Just saying this to help anyone who might need a smaller hook to get the desired result. Happy crocheting!! ❤
That's a great idea!
The yarn with the golden thread adds an extra touch! ❤
The Pumpkins are adorable. Love them.❤😊
This was so fun! I wanted to get started right away, but didn’t have the time or finances right now to get to the store to buy fiber fill. My husband had the perfect idea to use the stuffing out of stuffed animals, who weren’t so loved anymore. It worked perfectly and we were able to have another use for something that was taking up clutter in our home. Win-win!
Oh yay! Great way to up-cycle!
You can also use the filling out of a pillow 🙂
Or you can use some old plastic bags
On October 2nd I was not planning on crocheting anything (I knit more), but these pumpkins showed up and the instructions were so complete that on October 3rd I bought the yarn and the hook and now, October 4th, I am starting on the little pumpkin! Thank you for the detailed instructions!
These pumpkins are sooooo adorable! I just bought some fall colored yarn that would make great pumpkins. Thanks so much for your videos Erica.❤️❤️
Good❤
I’ve watched several beginner crochet videos but yours makes the most sense! Thank you so much for keeping it simple and detailed for us newbies. Great lesson!
I did the stack of three. I know they will probably get stored after the Thanksgiving holiday, but I put a small dowl rod through all 3 pumpkins. It seemed to give the stack more stability to stand alone. But I love this project. You also did a very good job on your presentation of to whole process. I'm a retired language arts teacher and I would've given you an A if you presented this to my class!
I love the stacked pumpkins. It's a great idea! Thank you for you're tut.
I am definitely going to make these. Thank you for your generosity . God Bless you all!
I am so glad I found your video and you are a great teacher. The pumpkins are adorable and your instructions make it very easy to create one. I plan on making many more! Thank you!
Erica, I’m so happy that I found your video. You made a fun tutorial to watch and easy to learn. Thank you.
Really cute little pumpkins! Loved the leaf around the top of the lower large pumpkin in the pumpkin trio. Also loved the cinnamon stick stem! Great tutorial!
I love these crocheted pumpkins. Thank you.
Perfect timing; I've been wanting to make yarn pumpkins! They are so cute and nice and plump, lol! I do like the stacked option, too! Thanks!
I am so making this!! The stacked pumkin design is one I really like.
Love love love! This is perfect for beginners but doesn’t look beginner. I was able to complete in 30 minutes with bulky weight yarn. My house is about to be filled with pumpkins lol.
Erica you are the best teacher both visual and auditory. Thank you so much! I’m just learning to crotchet today. I’m hoping to make a pumpkin soon. God Bless You Girl! ❤
Beginner crocheter and I love how easy to follow this is! My sister and I both have fall birthdays and both collect pumpkins-- she collects them whenever she finds one in her favorite color, mine are part of my general Halloween collection. So now I'm super excited to make us some matching sibling pumpkins this fall. The shape with the ridges really looks so perfect.
Cute simple pattern. Very fun! I think I will be making pumpkins!!
Love the video. Great teaching, and easy to follow. Going to make this for my holiday family surprise gift. Will put Christmas ornaments in with it in a bag. Family will love them.
Love the pumpkins can’t wait to make a few!! Thank you
These are absolutely darling!! I cant wait to make them! You are such a good teacher!!! Thank you!
I haven’t want to make something this much I such a long time! I can’t wait to wake up and this this tomorrow! Thank you so much!!!
Good ❤
This comment is for time stamps! I've never really crocheted anything, so I'm just gonna follow your instructions! Thanks for the tutorial! They're beautiful! ❤ (edit): After HOURS of working on a small one, I made one! It's FAR from perfect....but I'm gonna try again! My yarn was thinner, so it was way smaller than I thought it was gonna be, but I'm excited to make another!

It was so fun watching this video. I’m so happy I found you. Thank you. You are a good teacher.
Thank you, what a fun project! Going out tomorrow for yarn! ❤
Excited to make these. Lions brand thick and quick is my favorite yarn. I usually find knitting easier than crochet but I can do these!
Erica, thank you so much. I made the first one already and it turned out so cute. Getting ready to start a couple more. This was a great and easy tutorial. Thank you so much. I looked at other crochet pumpkins before finding yours, and they were so much more complicated. Yours was easy and looks exactly like I wanted it to. Thank you, thank you.
Great tutorial, Erica. Been crocheting since a girl and now 74. Love these cute pumpkins. Will make cute gifts.
thank you so much! this was my first ever crochet project ❤️

Already made plans to go to Joann's to get the yarn and the cinnamon sticks and twine to make these adorable pumpkins... Thank you Erica you’re the best...🤗😊🤗
Good ❤
I made two of these in knit. Mama in a Stitch has a knit pattern on her website. For the stems we used sticks from the front yard. Super fun decoration!
Love the adorable pumpkins!!
I made one, a small one to try it out. It's beautiful. Followed the video which is easy, love it. Thank you. Now off to make various sizes and colours for decorations.

I love this... Your do a great job showing each step/stitch!
These are so adorable Erica! Love the colors. The Clover hook you are using are my very favorite hooks. I have one in almost all sizes. Really comfortable in your hand. I’ve tried lots of different brands and these are the best. Can’t wait to get some new yarn and make a few of these. Thanks for all the inspiration you give us.
Such a great tutorial! You are an amazing teacher. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for this awesome tutorial! I'm not new to crochet or amigurumi, but I struggle to figure things out on my own with crochet and knitting. I never made a pumpkin before and never understood it was a BLO trick along with using the long tail to create those indentations along the sides. Took me a little while for the first one, but now I think I could crank out a few of these in a day. Thank you again!
I love this tutorial and heading to hobby lobby tomorrow for yarn. Thank you for your channel ❤️
Ms. Erica, thank you for the inspiration. I think I have some chunky yarn around in my stash boxes to make those adorable little guys. If not, I'll have a good reason to go shopping. God bless.
Love this!! It's the perfect tutorial 🩷
Thank you! Wonderful video!Adorable pumpkins!
I’m definitely going to give this a try. They are so cute
Thank you!! Lovely pumpkins and such a helpful tutorial!!
Oh my, you make this look so easy. I am going to go out and get some supplies. Definitely need to try.
Thank you for this tutorial! This is the first thing I've ever crocheted, and you explained it really well. My pumpkin turned out a little wonky in a couple places but with the chunky yarn it wasn't noticeable.
Really love this video! Came up as first suggestion when I searched for crochet pumpkin and I am so glad that you show us the end of each row as that is usually where I get lost when a speedy crochet pro assumes I understand to catch those hard to see pieces at each end! Fairly new at crocheting and this is going so smoothly thanks to your clear, good paced and nice looking video! Have a lovely weekend! ❤
I’ve made two and a half since I wrote this, so easy and fun and everyone I’ve shown loves them! Thanks for bringing joy to my crochet learning phase 😄
Loved the out-takes! Great project. It got me in the mood for fall and to take up crocheting again. You are the first instructor I have understood. I'm so excited. 🎉 Thank you Erica.
Best pumpkin pattern I’ve made!! Thank you
So Adorable can't wait to make some.
