Chasing Your Border's On!

- Continuing on from the Red & White Log Cabin Quilt, it's time to add a border. As Jeanette calls it - she chases the borders on the quilt. What do you call it?
Jeanette uses simple maths to figure out the length of the borders she needs for this technique. She simply measures her quilt (28.5" square), then adds the width of her border (2") together, which equals 30.5". Then giving a quarter inch seam allowance on both sides, minuses 0.5", leaving the border length to be 30" on all four sides.
If you don't want to measure and cut your border, Jeanette also shows the technique of trimming after sewing.
Jeanette uses a Red & White Gathering Jelly Roll for the border: www.thesewings...

Thank you for the tutorial. Darling quilt!
This little log cabin quilt-top is so sweet! I ❤the red and white! Great inner border tutorial.
I'd ❤ to see the cabin quilt completed with the outer border, batting, binding and machine-quilting! 😊❤👍
I've never seen this demonstrated. Thank you, Jeanette! I love all the tutorials from The Sewing Studio!

Thank you! A new way to add a border. Looks so easy and it’s a cleaner look.
Great demonstration. I sometimes forget this method. Thanks for the video 😊
Thank you for showing this. I saw your video on the red and white log cabin strips and ordered two honey buns and have the block pieces cut out labeled and pinned. I am sewing blocks, like you suggested when I have some extra time and grab a pre-cut block and sit and sew, how easy. Would love to finish this one for Christmas so am following any suggestions you are coming up with and filming, what a great help for this senior 🪡🧵🙏👏🥰
Thank you Jeanette, a clever way to add border x
