Passageways isn't a church. Above the door it states Outreach Center for Homeless Veterans. My mother and I started Passageways 10 years ago. We have given out almost 1 million dollars in supplies in the last 2.5 years.
It may not have a lot of stores anymore but it’s a nice quiet place to go to get out of the heat and also get your mileage steps in. Lots of senior citizens come here to walk their miles first exercise. I really hope they are able to find a way to keep the mall open. It would be a shame to shut it down completely. It’s a beautiful mall and not in any disrepair except for the outside parking lots being cracked and full of potholes in some areas. There’s even a movie theater there.
I remember when it opened in 1981. I was 11 and we'd drive up from GCKS for various reasons and to come to this and Towne East. It's sad to see it in the shape it is today.
I go here for vintage stock. People would go here if there were places to shop. I don’t understand how new market square is better. Now I have to drive to the far west to get anything specific
Found memories of this malls heyday from when I was little decades ago lol. Still looks pretty nice on the inside. Outside parking lot is a different story. This place needs new ownership.I feel like if Towne East can succeed, there's no reason this place can't. Just my 2 cents. Not everything is meant to be bought on online or Amazon and clothing stores are a great example.
Towne East is surviving because it has better access from Kellogg (US-54/400 for you non locals), still has middle class to upscale neighborhoods around it, and is still owned by Simon Properties which once owned both malls plus the Hutchinson Mall, but has since jettisoned the other two after they went into decline.

Sorry for the misinformation! That's great!

Every time I go to Towne West and walk through there, I always remember what stores used to be where. It's sad what has become of this place.

I bought a new car in august of 1980 and drove it to town west.
I will not agree with Wikipedia on the opening date.
