NYC has a lot lower crime rate than Wichita. It is a much bigger city so there is more crime but if you take into account the population, Wichita is way more dangerous.

...Wichita's rates are higher than Chicago's. BUT crime rates alone are not a good metric for if a city can be 'safe' to live.. nor is it a good metric for if the city itself is good!!

Wichita crime is someone broke into your car, NYC crime is getting pushed onto the tracks in the subway. Wichita is NOT more dangerous than NYC. Cant remember the last time we had a terrorist attack either but I'll never forget the twin towers

@@carriemartinez2933 ~ The pic that had mountains in the background was Los Angeles, and he was comparing a murder rate of .02%, based on two murders in one night in a town of 9,000 people, and saying how many people that would be in LA. Problem is, he's not smart enough to fact-check himself, or he'd realize the two murders were in Independence, MO... a town with a population of 117,000! Big, big difference. But since he was using LA as an example, the picture was not out of context.

Its nice to see a person on the internet insulting the cities you grew up in😐 as somebody who grew up in Coffeyville, currently lives in independence, and frequents the other cities, i can tell you that the crime here isn't as bad as this guy makes it seem. Its not like you're going to get mugged on the street as soon as you walk into town, like this man makes it seem. How can you speak about how the crime in these cities is so bad if you yourself bring no evidence that you live here? And for independence, you've got the wrong city. Thats Missouri's Independence. Get your facts and your script straight before you start calling everyone's city a ghetto

I live in Wichita. I do not think of it as a dangerous city. I know it is statistically as a whole, but it all depends on the neighborhood you live in and where you spend your time. Probably could be said of any city. I live in the NW corner of the city and it is quite safe here and the Far East nicer neighborhoods are a good place to raise a family as well. My sister has been in so much trouble and had issues that you talk about, but I have had very little. The worst thing I have had was when my sister borrowed my car for the weekend and then let her at the time bf take it to go get ciggies, because she was too lazy to get up. He never came back with it. About a week later it was left running in some people's driveway. It was full of gang and drug signia so the police said and it was totalled. I've had a few tickets that I felt were not my fault, but doesn't almost everyone think that too. I have had a couple fender benders, but mostly i watch out for the other guy who may not be paying attention and do pretty well. Anyway, I love Kansas and really have no desire to leave.

I am from a tiny town in Kansas and I can honestly say where there are people, there is crime. The issue with Kansas is there are few drug rehabilitation centers and mental health services so we tend to have a large number of meth addicts out and about. And due to lack of funding and spaces available they cannot receive the help they need.
Also, small towns are great for classroom size, but can lack due to funding issues. My school didn’t have any AP programs, and our special Ed classrooms where limited in funding so they couldn’t offer as many opportunities as the bigger schools. Just something to consider for families thinking about moving.

It's actually supposed to be pronounced Toe-peka. it's an Indian name. It just turned into Tapeka. It's kind of like saying the word Toe-peka with a slight hillbilly accent.
