    I'm loving the coverage. I was a driver/mechanic at at Chrysler starting in 69. I did more BB performance work. But drove these a lot and the actual race cars for development. Great job.

    340 probably the best small block ever produced until the modern small blocks of today. They made tons of power and strength was amazing, it was a screamer and hard to kill.

      Boredout454 Amen. No such thing as a "grocery getter" 340. Every 340 was hi-perf engine!

    I purchased mine from 2nd owner in 1978, for $900.00. Sold it for $2000.00 to the guy I bought it from, without the motor.
    Sold the motor in 2015 for $10,000.00 complete, in a box.
    Never drove it! Just towed it in and out of my garage to wax it. Quite exciting just the same.

    Chrysler V8 'LA' (lightweight 'A engine') was and still is one of the best engine (pre-fuel injection) dessigns ever made.

    My first car was a 70' 383 Gran Coupe that was B5 blue with a white vinyl top and the optional luggage rack. Paid $320 for it in 1981, loved that car like you wouldn't believe.

    The most accurate way to be sure you're looking at a genuine AAR 'Cuda is check the VIN number. AAR's had their own model ID number imbedded into the VIN. If it's a genuine AAR car, the first 7 characters of the VIN will be "BS23J0B."

    Surprising how many styling cues my 2016 Challenger R/T takes from this Cuda! Side body line, front grill, spoiler, side mirror shape. You could even get it which that hood, although mine has the traditional Challenger R/T dual scoop hood. Awesome car!

    Late 80’s I pulled into a Hardee’s drive thru in my 340 Duster, and there was a dude pulled over by the cops in the parking lot who had a AAR. I gave him the thumbs up, and he waved me over. I waited for the cops to leave, and drove over. He says; “Dude, this is like, my 10th ticket in this thing, I gotta get rid of it, you interested?” It was a very nice looking original, so I said “I’ll give you 2 grand.” He whined that was too low, but he’d take $3000. I said ok, and just then notice my wife giving me the “WTF are you doing?” look, then she actually said; “WTF are you doing!?” I didn’t get the car...

    I had a chance to buy one in the the early 1980's for $1,500, minus the 6-Pack motor.

    Is the Cuda the performance version of the Barracuda ? Didn’t Chrysler Corp also make a 440 ? I had a friend at work with an old car I forget which it was and I am sure he said it had a 440 in it. But I know almost zero about Mopar. Sweet car

    what is the date code for those LED fog lamps. possibly a little after 1970?

    • @V8TV
      @V8TV  8 років тому

      Those are not LED lamps. Perhaps the yellow sticker on the lens appears like a modern LED panel, but that is a reproduction of the original dealer-prep sticker that came on these cars new.

    • @aarmancuda3570
      @aarmancuda3570 9 років тому

      actually the rallye gauge package is sorta rare for the AAR's.. most did not come with this extra cost option..

  • @davecee4459
    @davecee4459 8 років тому +1

    The 290 hp figure has to be rear wheel hp or just simply a BS figure . These cars will run right with a 375 HP 440 MAGNUM in a slightly heavier 69 dodge charger in the 1/4 mile at right around 14 second times . We raced these two bone stock cars together and they were basically identical ET times both have automatic transmissions . Horsepower to weight ratio means the 290 hp must be wrong .

    • @w41duvernay
      @w41duvernay 6 років тому

      a LOT of those musclecars hp rating where funny numbers. From what I understand, a manufacturer may of taken the hp rating of an engine at 5000 rpm, and used that number as the hp rating for advertising.

    • @jeremythompson9895
      @jeremythompson9895 6 років тому +1

      They put out much more than 290 hp......probably between 325-350
