I listened to this song continuously when I got divorced. It wasn't being separated from my wife that was the problem, it was being separated from my Son. This song summed up how I had felt for a long time. Beautiful song.
@@ruly8153 I should be clear. He wasn't knighted by the Queen of England for his contributions to theater and cinema like Olivier, Richardson, Gielgud, Guinness. He was Knighted by some other group or organization. But whether it carries the same weight as being knighted by the Queen of England for Acting contributions I don't know. Doesn't mean I don't like him either. Just pointing it out. If someone knows how big a deal it is and what is was for please contribute.
This song still touches my heart after all these years and the meaning is clearer to me now especially when i have my own family care for...thanks for the beautiful song Sir Richard.....
Hi everybody, This is a French song originally recorded by Claude François in 1970, and is called « Parce que je t’aime mon enfant » (Because I Love You, My Child). You can find it on YT. The original of "My Way" is also from Claude François and is called "Comme d'Habitude". PS : I'm french.
First I fell in love with him at age 8 when I saw him in Gulliver. Then 5 years later when I saw him in Orca. And 8 years later in Camelot. And I did not know that these three men was the same Richard Harris. :) He is not my type at all still stole my heart.
We had this record as a young couple in the 80's. My husband has since passed. Richard Harris songs like mac berth, my boy, proposal, all the little children, bone of my bone on this record bring fond memories.
He was one of the best looking guys ever - he just had that magnetism, and he was scarily good in the Field. He's off drinking now somewhere far away with O'Toole and the likes ;)
A few years back, on my son's birthday, I got for him the CD of this song. He was listening to it for weeks. Over and over again. And each time his whole body was covered with goosebumps.... According to him, up to this day, THIS SONG was the best BD present ever! So, thank you "Little birdy" for sharing this! :D
Beautiful song ! For me, Richard Harris, this Munsterman, is a charismatic and iconic actor ! I love him so much ! RIP Sir, we miss you ! You joined your friend Peter O'Toole, in Heaven, and you're surely talking about rugby, you the Red Army's Fan : "To the brave and faithful, nothing is impossible."
This stunning rendition of " My Boy," by Richard Harris, puts to bed any claims concerning his singing. Richard not only could sing, but outclassed many of those hailed as professional singers. He hit the high notes in this beautiful song perfectly. Not even Frank Sinatra, or Engelbert Humperdink could equal Richard's version of " My Boy." It is sad to think he is gone. But that is life and its cycle. His rich legacy in relation to his acting and singing lives on making him among the immortals.
You're sleeping, son, I know But really this can't wait I wanted to explain before it gets too late For your mother and me, love has finally died This is no happy home, but God knows how I've tried Because you're all I have, my boy You are my life, my pride, my joy And if I stay, I stay because of you, my boy I know it's hard to understand Why did we ever stop We're more like strangers now Each acting out a part I have laughed, I have cried I have lost every game Taking all that I can take But I'll stay just the same Because you're all I have, my boy You are my life, my pride, my joy And if I stay, I stay because of you, my boy Sleep on, you haven't heard a word Perhaps it's just as well Why spoil your little dreams Why put you through that hell Life is no fairy tale as one day you will know But now you're just a child I'll stay here and watch you grow Because you're all I have, my boy You are my life, my pride, my joy And if I stay, I stay because of you, my boy (Repeat to fade...)
GOSTEI MUITO DE RICHARD HARRIS: EM QUALQUER DAS SUAS VERTENTES ARTISTICAS!!! SEJA NO CINEMA TEATRO NA MÚSICA FOI ENORME E FALANDO EXACTAMENTE NESTA SUA CANÇÃO:MY BOY: ESTÁ BRILHANTEMENTE BEM!!! QUE DEUS O TENHA EM PAZ!!!!
I had the honour of meeting Richard Harris whilst temping at 20th Century Fox many years ago. I had always admired him and when I met him I was not disappointed. To this day it was the greatest moment in my life. Thank you Richard and test in peace.xx
That Richard 'Arris fella could sing - i'll give him that.......damn good actor too......i'll give him that. Pretty brilliant actually, that Richard 'Arris fella......I'll give him that.
I didn't know Englishman Bob (the Unforgivables) and director dumbledore (Harry Potter) were great singers. Joking aside, Richard Harris was one of the best actors of his time, coming from the best school in the world that is the English school, always masterfully playing his roles, whether in cinema or theater. RIP
Richard Harris, the top of the hits as an actor, as a singer and as a person. Also a real good sense of humour, but humble too. Listen to "There are too many saviors on my cross" and his reading of "Jonathan Livingstone Seagull", unique texts and philosophy on humanhood.
Elvis had the hit in English...but in France the hit was by...the guy who wrote the song....french singer...claude Francois...who also wrote the original..song..my way...

"My Boy" wasn't my favorite tune on the LP. I favored "The Sidewalk Song," another Harris/Webb collaboration. For me it is very powerful romantic stuff.
Thor Odinson there is a song on that album and I remember the words bones of my bones and flesh of my flesh. It was absolutely incredibly powerful. Do you remember the name of it and if you do thank you. But thank you anyway
Wonder if he sang this with his (then) 9-10 year old son Jared (who is now a grown man in his 60’s) in mind, considering Jared was sent to boarding school when he was very young….
Oh good lord, no contest . Richard was a remarkable actor and put a fantastic spin in his singing like it was a story just for my ears. Living well was his best revenge, you can be sure.
Excellent version! It's a great surprise to see he sang this song much before Elvis.
Not really considering a Irish guy wrote it
I listened to this song continuously when I got divorced. It wasn't being separated from my wife that was the problem, it was being separated from my Son. This song summed up how I had felt for a long time. Beautiful song.
I think of my 27 year old son Adam when I hear this, I will love him until I die and beyond xx
Beautiful tribute to this great Irishman ❤️ Gone but not Forgotten
thank you, Maurice.
One of the most beautiful songs!
A great song beautifully performed by Richard Harris. My son lives in America now and I miss him so much. This song reminds me so much of him.
David Walsh I hope you see him soon and often .
when we lost Sir Richard Harris we lost a great dramatic actor, and man that lived a full life. RIP Sir Richard.
Rey Ramirez He wasnt knighted.

Surprisingly good. I did not know Richard Harris could sing. He did a fine job with this.
Amazing song , touches my heart and soul especially the lyrics written from ❤️

Fell in love with him the first time I saw Camelot. ❤ So handsome! And what a voice!

A very meaningful song of self sacrifice for the children. ..at least in this song I am relieved. Thnks for posting.

A Great Actor, Singer Very Talented R.I.P. Richard Harris!
Thank you this is so beautiful.
Prachtig nummer van Claude François werd vertaald en EP had er een grote hit mee maar ook deze uitvoering van Richard is schitterend, My Boy.
dynamic rich and a purpose few would ever understand. A man on the edge and yet new the beginning and the end of it all.
The best version by far.
That Richard 'Arris fella could sing - i'll give him that.......damn good actor too......i'll give him that. Pretty brilliant actually, that Richard 'Arris fella......I'll give him that.
I LOVE THE SONG
I have my emotion and this is one of it , to let it co

Only just read your post, but if more people listed to 'Too many Saviours' these wars would lessen, thank you.

Awesome you are awesome singer😅
I'm so sad that you lost your dad😢
does anyone have the rest of this story book album? The album tells of them meeting loving, marrying and falling apart?
He sounds a lot like Andy Williams. I didn't know he was such a great singer. The movie "Camelot" did really show off his singing talent.
Elvis had the hit but Harris seemed to live this!
BARBARA..WELL SAID I AGREE ..ITS THE BEST VERSION EVER,!
Elvis had the hit in English...but in France the hit was by...the guy who wrote the song....french singer...claude Francois...who also wrote the original..song..my way...

Wonderful music
Elvis Presley sang it too but richard put more passion and emotions into it
As good as Elvis -and that's saying a lot!
So handsome I hope his 3 sons r well
Was this written for his 10 year old (now 59 year old) son Jared? Sounds like it.
His real life son was in Mad Men.
Sniff, sniff..
does richard harris sings this song ? is it a song he dedicates to his son ? sorry I am so ignorant, but I want to know
Hi wondered if youd seen this ?
Just has good

A sad, sad, sad album about divorce!
It precursored law and order SVU and placed the image of innocnce against the image of brutality. Nothing like MacArthur park.
Better than Elvis version, and I'm huge fan of Elvis g👑
I AGREE...THIS IS THE BEST EVER..I PLAY IT ..EVERY CHANCE I GET.
No way it's better than elvis version my boys one of the kings best songs I think but this ones ok

Richard 0: Elvis P. 100. This is comedy, what is this?
He looks like Conor McGregor
Anyone remember the little ditty about a child rapist and his stinking blood soaked cloak? Was it Laila?
Facial hair suits him.
