Another Jimmy Webb masterpiece, one of his most underrated songs but so subtle and simple, its a real heartbreaker. Genius.

I just came across this .. Sent tingles down my spine . His voice is at once so soft gentle and amazing masculine. I'm right back in the 70s when I first heard it. Thank you.

I never forgot this song. My sister bought the LP and I transferred it to my reel-to-reel recorder/player... back in the day. I've always regarded the song as a perfect example of a shy man infatuated with a woman -- too timid to approach her directly but in some sense torturing himself by walking the steps she might have taken. I experienced the heartache of seeing a beloved creature and never attempting any type of communication -- thus I connected with this romantic song -- for a lifetime. When a man loves a woman... well, that's a different song, but connects to that inner-part, the best part of a man's soul. Women do not often realize the tremendous power they hold over men -- even after men get past the point of being noncommunicative. Early on, men look upon women as angels, as celestial beings and as a consequence remain too fearful to approach them. How could a mere man approach an angel -- or one he has designated as such in his unconscious mind? What does this man hope to attain -- even if he were bold enough to approach an angel? Only later does a man discover that women are not angels but human beings fraught with their own insecurities and fallibilities. But, during that young, romantic period, women can be mistaken for goddesses, and every step they take is golden. In a way it is torturous but in another it's almost religious.

I had the album and wore it out. The song proposal was so much like my late husband talking to my father. I have the cd, but can’t get whole album on line.

Thor Odinson I actually found the cd as part of a double cd. Haven’t listened to the second cd. Just today I had it in my car in my driveway. My ac is broken and it’s 90 in nyc so I went to cool off in the car. There were 2 bonus tracks I had never heard. One was a narrative called The morning of the mourning of another Kennedy. I found myself in tears again. Thinking of what might have been.

This song reminds me of My Mum listening to Richard Harris while cleaning the house back in the seventies

Yes the yard went on forever. Fireflies, scents of roses and jasmine, backyard kiddie pools and tire swings. Playing all day till dinner time when Mom would call you. Extended families and believing in Santa Clause. God , how did we get where we are now? Such a tragedy

So meaningful to me as my special guy sent me this 48 years later after we renewed our childhood love just this year. Said it spoke for him back in 1968. Thank you Jimmy Webb for a beautifully written song!

A great actor who could also sing. He could truly interpret Jimmy Webb's songs. Plus, he wrote some great songs himself. He is sorely missed.

A true legand,I know that word gets tossed around a little to much , but this man could get a point across with his soulful voice, that seemed to get life sorted, his part in that indian movie gave me a lesson of humananity, I remember now, a man called horse, his Jimmy webb song, Mc Arthers park is probably the best poetic love song ever..I would like to talk to other like minded people.

TO THE GOLDEN GLOW OF YOUR WINDOW LIGHT. That part stops me in my tracks, but be carefull flying to the sun to quick icarus, good album from Jimmy webb, Johnny harris, and the king of Camelot singing , that combo of lyrics, music , and Richard's use of drama, convays the feeling to the songs, dead on.

My album collection in high school consisted of everything I could get my hands on by Richard Harris, Leonard Cohen and Grace Slick. I still never get tired of them. If anyone is new to Richard Harris, look up Watermark, A Tramp Shining and One Of The Nicer Things. And to give kudos to Jimmy Webb, check out Wichita Lineman and If You See Me Getting Smaller, I'm Leaving.

Hi.the Ford Auditorium in Detroit? was this place built by the Ford motor company, Im sorry for asking dumb questions but I have a brain that wants to know everything.do you know if the Packard plant is still standing .what do most people in the US think of President Obarma. we have our first female leader and most are not happy with the way things are going..

To respond to one of your questions, Brian, I believe most of the thinking people in the United States who actually care about our country, miss President Obama's leadership. The sitting president will go down as a shameless kleptocrat. I trust that the American electorate now see this. Impeachment will be his sorry fate.
